- We've rescued more than 30 rare original master tapes of the Canadian version of Let's Make a Deal starring Monty Hall from 1981. Here's a full episode! www.bonusround.ca
I believe this was the penultimate episode of LMAD80. There were more episodes planned, but Catalena's financial difficulties as well as its legal issues with Hatos-Hall prevented that.
Newspaper archives from the time it was in production announced 200 episodes being taped.
@@VahanNisanian The main Wiki lists 195, so this is definitely one of the last ones.
Considering the difficulties Catalena had with Hatos-Hall over this incarnation of LMAD, I'm surprised they were anywhere close to getting Pitfall on the air after this.
@@Tubewings We don't have episode 195. Episode 194 is the latest master episode we've been able to find.
Did you find more outside of the 40 you previously found? Sounds like you did. Regardless, I'll take what I can get.
We have not found any more masters. We keep looking but are not hopeful...
@3:27, the announcer looks and sounds like Jay Stewart, but it's not, right?
yes, but his voice sounds like a combination between Brian Cummins and Dean Goss, the shows' two announcers for each of the seasons that would run on american tv syndication in the mid-80s back in Hollywood.
Chuck Chandler, a radio DJ based in Edmonton and BC was the announcer of this version
@@Rewindium Jay had committments to Joker's Wild, Tic Tac DOugh, and Bullseye in the 1980-81 season. CHarlie O'Donnell took over announcing those shows in the 1981-82 season, and LMAD80-81 didn't get a second season. Jay was up in years by the time of the mid 80s All New LMAD, and was committed to $ale of the Century and Scrabble at the time. Not to mention his outside issues, including pains of some kind and the death of one of his children in the early 80s.
Today is the 35th anniversary of the Jay Stewart bucket kicking,
This version was taped in Vancouver so perhaps it was a Cancon quota requirement to have the announcer from Canada
