  • What You NEED to Know About Flipping PCs
So many people make videos about flipping computers for profit, but what you need to understand is things are different in other places around the world like USA compared to UK. The UK used market is way overpriced.

You may not be able to make money building and then reselling PCs but by building your own PC you might save yourself some money by never having to buy a new PC again.

There are lot of sellers that dont understand their value, once you clean it and properly balance the build.

thanks Britec, lots of good information there great video need to get my flipflops on after that one. As you said need to do a lot of research to get good deals, and to make some kind of profit! You have given me really good tips on what to look for so hopefully I can flip this one I'm building and have enough profit to take time and look for a cheap deal.

It is not possible to make $500 a pop build PC's in the UK because the UK uses the pound instead of the Dollar. You might be able to make 100 pounds but that's a lot of weight to try and lose.

To be fair Brian, I'm running an old optiplex 990. I5 - 2400, 12 gb ram, GTX 1050 graphics card. Had it since late 2019 I think, works fine, does everything I need it to, that includes gaming. They're not bad machines for outdated, former office machines. I don't endorse scamming in any way fyi, just adding that in there lol. They're probably good for the say gamer who's systems blown up, not got much money and needs a temp replacement perhaps but for me it works fine as a main system. Each to his own though.

Yes well Brian out here in Australia prices of components like the UK are obscenely priced especially for CPU's and GPU's. Motherboards, cases, SSD's, CPU coolers are just affordable on the whole as are some other addon's for example fans although it does depend on what quality one you want or need. As for used stuff myself would steer well clear of them unless I knew the owner personally and could depend on their honesty. Frankly nothing beats building from scratch with new equipment from a reputable seller. The thing that I hate is buying some components only to find the price is in US dollars that stinks!! Now I have used a company in Melbourne for many years for components and they offer that customising feature and like you say it can be so much cheaper to do that.

In Germany it is the same. Second hand pc parts are too expensive for what you get. I watch these videos from us creators that are building cheap pc and I wonder how they can get the use stuff for the price they say. They must spend hours on eBay to find the prices they need. That’s ok if you make money with content but not if you want to make money with pc flipping. One has to consider the time spent to finish a pc that you want to sell.

Here in Florida, just a couple of years ago, there was a guy who sold absolute garbage computers, I mean rubbish for exorbitant prices at a local flea market. He would set up a system and the technologically ignorant would be wowed and dazzled by media playing on it. He even put the specs right out on a paper taped to the side of it, so they couldn't claim he misled them. To give an idea he was selling Pentium 4 computers with low capacity IDE drives, integrated graphics, and Windows XP for more than $300 . People with little or no knowledge put a lot of misplaced trust in sellers and it is a widespread problem not just online. The guy at the flea market I am told had been there for a decade doing the same con and was doing a bustling business. I saw quite a few gray-haired people browsing his wares with interest.

These days, every PC seems to be a 'Gaming PC', and noobs think they'll get a top of the range PC for cheap. In fact, if you want a fast PC, without any hidden issues, better buy a new one; at least you'll have warranty on it. Look for a reliable seller and low prices, and you might get a good deal. If all you plan to do is email and RUclips, you don't NEED a fast PC. And, if so, you could settle for an older model, and forget about Windows 11 - just go for Linux, and save a LOT of money.

      That's too low.
If you calculate the time used for hardware /software you will be on 4-5 hour mark, if you install the os and software also, to test it, drivers and os updates.
You get 10-11-12€ per hour, minus electricity costs.
Put at least 80-100€ margin, then you spend your time right.

Not possible to do Anywhere, let alone the UK. Only those who are ripping people off would make that much per flip. Before the scam'demic it was close to that but since... theres no way. $100-200 profit Max and thats of you scored dirt cheap parts. Its just not worth it these days. I find flipping Components easier, you may make less per flip, if you will, but Volume of sales will be the key. The market here in my part of Canada is saturated with systems that are Beyond over priced... I see the same systems for sale over Months and never sell. If its longer than 6 months its never gong to sell and will soon be Old and lose its value Fast. Its a hard graft these days and caused me to not be bothered anymore. Ill do Builds for a Fee now and/or do upgrades for customers. That way I get my Hourly Plus a few bob on the item.
