I've had this case for 3 years and I love it. Got a 360 rad sitting at the top insider the case with the fans sitting ontop pulling air in. Removed the plastic that covered the front top fan while having the mesh covering the other two and half og the third. Doesn't really pull that much dust in and compared to an open case it's practically nothing. Only issue I have is that it's heavy.

So having the same case, I randomly thought to re-read the manual. Turns out that we both were mounting the AIO and the fans the wrong way. We are suppose to put the fans on the outside, right beside the mesh and the radiator is suppose to be where we put the fans. Cougar wasn't lying when they said it can hold a 360 AIO.

What type of screws were you able to use to mount the fans to the Top of the tower?
I purchased Cougar LED fans, and the screws it came with, and the screws that came with the case just fall straight through the Slots for the fans.
The 120MM fan screw holes are MUCH larger than the 140MM screw holes for the top of the case.

Your max-g case review is much appreciated, what is your opinion of the panzer evo rgb case, it seems to be the updated version of the max g with features like the usb type-C in the front panel interface and no flimsy mesh panels on the front or top, plus 4 rgb fans adding some value. Also how would you compare the evo rgb case to the thermaltake view 71 rgb case, i can't decide between the two for my very first all around build that i will keep for probably ever.
    Thanks in advance.

    • @ElevatedSystems
      @ElevatedSystems  5 лет назад +1

Of the two the Thermaltake will provide much better ventilation as the Panzer Evo is a purely show case with almost no ventilation. If you go with the thermaltake and are using a liquid AIO it will perform best if you install the radiator on the front of the case pulling air in, as if you put it on the top the tempered glass top panel will reflect the hot air back into the radiator. However, if you are using an E-ATX motherboard in the View 71 I think I remember there being some issues with the Mobo covering the cable pass-throughs to a point where they are not usable. You may also want to look at the Lian Li PC-011 XL which has a similar look to the 2 cases you are looking at with better thermal performance and more build room and options.

This review saved my ass. I am building 10 duplicate systems and, as some here may agree, the case is sometimes the item which takes the longest to pull the trigger on. I found this case late last night and thought maybe my search was over... Nope! This review kept me from making a terrible and costly mistake. While it is visibly shown, I think it should be mentioned that the 5.25 drive bays must be removed to fit 3 fans in front or in the inside top. These builds will be in a training area and I don't want external blu ray burners to "walk away". Too bad, nice looking sturdy looking case, and reasonably priced. BTW, no USB C on front panel, WTF? My search continues....

Check out the Phanteks Enthoo Pro TG. I'm not sure if there's enough fan configuration for you, but it has storage for days. Finding a case with a 5.25" bay and a Front Panel USB-C may be the biggest challenge.

Great review. I bought the case for my son's computer last christmas(about 18months now). I had issues with the non working fan speed controller. I tried numerous times to contact Cougar - they Never answered me...ever. Although Newegg was awesome with the RMA process. It's a monster case and you're right, it's a bit big for just a gamer system case - it looks good and does spaciously hold a good gaming system. But would I replace it - No. For reasons you said and just poor(non existent) customer service. There are tons of great cases on the market these days customers don't need to deal with companies like Cougar.(I've watched plenty of cougar product reviews and they are shaping up to be a not so customer oriented company) just my 2cents.
    Cheers..again, great video

I love the look of this case, but I had the exact same problems...
The fans at the top, towards the back, will always hit the motherboard I/O shield, and the screw holes on front will never fit anything I put in it. I have to leave things partially screwed.
And the piece of removable plastic at the top serves literally no purpose.
For a case this huge, you would think you could fit anything in it... but surprise surprise.
    I wouldn't recommend this case.

I really wish they would revamp this model, it has basically everything I'm looking for except the design choices are making me second guess picking this up. I need room for the ODD but also need room for liquid cooling. With some modding it could potentially work but I don't want to spend 200 on a case that I then have to cut into. It seems liquid cooling would either get in the way of the ODD or the motherboard, that's not taking into consideration the rest of the components. With a radiator on the back, extra fans could go on top but you can really only utalize 2 up there. If I end up deciding not to go with liquid cooling this case could potentially work out great.

Thanks for reviewing this case as honest as you can, Bro. I Own A cougar panzer Max not A Max G. You can make a Perfect Air Cooled Beast with this case with Some Badass Noctua Chromax Fans. Liquid Cooling However? Very Tricky...HEAVY modifications needs to be done, Like Installing The 3 Fan Radiator OUTSIDE of the Front Panel just to make to make room for the Extra Fans and Reservoir inside the case(Which I'm Planning to do in the Future). It's a neat looking case, But It does have a lot of flaws due To marketing hype.

    • @JohnnyKronaz
      @JohnnyKronaz 4 года назад +1

That's the whole point of the clearance between the case and the mesh on the front: So you can put the radiator (or fans) outside, and the fans (or radiator) inside. I've only got a two-fan radiator because I wanted an optical drive, and the radiator is between the case and the mesh, with the fans inside the case, and it works perfectly, and still gives tons of room on the inside for the reservoir.

  • @JK-mg8vt

This case is great. Been thru 2 builds with it. Most of what is mentioned as "issues" are more like minor inconveniences. I mounted the 120mm fan in back on the outside (avoids any MB confrontation) and got an extension cable to get connected to my Corsair Commander in the back. I removed the front air deflector and the PSU shroud. Neither is needed. I managed to get an Asus Thor 1200w Plat in there, had to remove the floor fan though. No biggie. I have a Corsair H115i-Pro up front inside with 4 140mm fans in push/pull config. 2 mounted outside and 2 mounted to the AIO inside. No biggie. 2 140mm up top under the mesh panel. There is so much air flowing thru there it isn't funny. As for the broken pin on the front panel, ok that suks, My way to fix that is to get another case, swap the panels and RMA it back. Inconvenient? Yeah. But you end up with what you want. Nobody gets everything without a little effort. Sometimes you have to drill a hole or file an edge down or pinch a flap of metal out of the way. This case is soon to hold an MSI Meg Ace-7950X3D-64GB Corsair DDR5. Oh, I just added a PNY RTX 4080 Super Verto OC. It came to within 1.25 inches of the radiator fan. BUT, it fit damn it. Yeah. Love this case.

If those issues, which could have been avoided with a little more thought to the design, weren't present, this would be a case easily worth the asking price. As it is, there are just too many other cases in that price range with more features and without those design flaws.

I wonder if you could help. I bought this for my first build as, much like you, couldn't find any robust reviews which highlight what you have.
I have recently bought a GPU which doesn't seem to fit, how would you best solve this problem, or alternatively (as mines also came with a damaged panel) could you recommend an alternative case.

It depends on how you mount it. Are you mounting the fans on the top of the case and the radiator inside, or both the fans and rad inside?

Of my panzer max case isnt like the one in the video its just the mesh with a bunch of holes and whenever I line up the rad i dont see how its supposed to screw into the top the holes are to big for the screws.

Just looked at their site today and they have updated it to show that this case (of the 4 different versions) is the ONLY one that doesn't come with the front fans. Very odd that they wouldn't include it... especially since this feels like a higher model than just the Max. Basically only the side panel is different.

A bit of a warning it also doesnt support top 360mm AIO as the 3rd fan is covered by plastic and not mesh, also it does not support 140 or 120mm fan at the bottom if your PSU is larger. The design of this case is baffling.

The glass panel is different in my case. its more integrated with a push latch like the back pannel. How is this possible? Also, my case is more strudy. I tried the same movement before installing mb and didn't flex at all. I think there are different versions.

No. I wouldn't have had a justification to return it if it arrived intact and as described. It was even said in their description that it had one fan, so that didn't surprise me that it was a negative here
I am really curious as to how big of a power supply that thing can fit. I've found a nice 1000w for the RTX 3080 since it is super power hungry but I would like a big case with cable management. Does anyone have recommendations?

If they spent an X-Tra $25 on quality instead of that piece of glass it would be better still. Overall I am happy with mine and those handles are AWESOME for moving it around. Thanx ES!

Yeah top and front space for cases is dissapointment, i was at the point of disassembly and cutting holes on top frame the way it shown in their promo materials, but i found out that front should be aligned by middle fan slot, then you will be able to screw in 8 screws into frame, and remaining 4 will get from fan to radiator directly, and to compensate lack of frame between fan and radiator i used thin silicone layer in between. 8 screws enought to keep radiator. What i did not like is that fans on front are not centered, they are shifted to side a little, my perfectionalist self is upset by that. I got original model with metal panels, want to replace it with latest revision with glass, but i dont like holes in it - its source of noise and dust i like more tight frame of origina just wante to have bigger window inside. also new revision has glass on top and front and i also dont like glass there with same issues, i just want glass on 1 side... and the problem is that for some reason they got glass with same holes on other side where you can see ugly cable managment, plue because glass is flat it does not have this bumpy extra space behind it to fit in fat cables.
It was 4th revision of case, which actually had 1 type C now, but it still not perfect. I really love this case, but i wish them do a new revision with modular options and all problems fixed. There is no case like this in market and i really wish it to be perfect. I dont know how can we able to influence Cougar and make them see our feedback and fix everything, but it needs to be done, i want 5th revision to make a perfect case! What needs to be done is -left pannel with shape and even sliding mechanism of V1, but with curved tampered glass attached to thinner metal frame to make window bigger but still keep tightness of V1. Right side should be metal, no windows.
Top pannel should be like V1 but full mesh, no solid plastic, front pannel also should be full mesh, this time with no windows for 5.25, just a one solid mesh. Front frame should be redesigned with 12cm and 14 cm holes in mind but without such a big space between them or there should be modular swapable frame for 14 and 12 cm to perfectly match both. Inner shell for power case should have modular window at side of power supple and also on top of power supply which may be equipped with RGB fan, also these widnows should have detachable meshes for dust. Front part of this shell should be shorter by 3 cm to support configuration with both radiator and fans attached behind frame inside case. Mechanism of fixing this shell should not require to detach video card just to open it and should not rely on screw to hold it.
Upper frame should have holes identical to new and fixed front frame, so you can set up fans bellow radiator, front should also be tweaked to actually make some radiators like MSI coreqliquid 360 fit in with tubes both directed to front and back both on upper and inner side. Reobus aka fan speed controller should be changed to analogue thin slider, with MB position and should have "incoming" port to get fan control from motherboard and to let switch between manual overrider and automatic motherboard control, with return channel to let motherboard know speed even in manual override mode. 4 pins pwm should be default option with 3 pin as fallback to backwards compatibility. Also all rubber parts should be replaced with black silicone because rubber decays fast. And all places where front, upper, left and right pannels supposed to touch case should have silicone layer to cover all gaps between case and these pannels and make them sit supper tight.
All plastic locks should re replaced with metallic or better to magnetic. Lower dust filter should be made same way is in older cases of Cougat where its inside some rails and cas has hole bahind where you can detach this filter without moving case. there should be modules to replace 2 x 2.5 ssd holders by 1x HDD 3.5 holders. case have enought space to support it. In modern NVMe SSD era i would better use 2.5 taken space with extra 2 HDDs 3.5 with 12-16 TB of space. instead of useless 2.5 Also space between PSU and front fans actually could be used as extra bay for 3.5 HDDs and i wish there be a holder next to fan space to be able to put it 3-4 hdds under shell. There needs to be a detachable plastic cover on shell to hide wiress on a low of motherboard. Also shell should have hole and built in vide card holder.
One more thing i really wish this case to had - is support for vertical video card alignment with ability to move it so far from pci EXPRESS SLOTS SO YOU CAN FIT some audio cards and other PCIE devices behind card, with PCIE 4 or 5 cable and possibly modular back panel. Also back panels for each pcie slot should have dust filter. Back fan should not be aligned to same level as motherboard panel, it should have sub-fram to let fan be put inside, because it covers motherboard RGB logos they way it is now, so it should be shifted behind motherboard deeper 2-3 cm.
Holes for cables should be wider and there should be 4 vertical instead of 3. USB 3.0 cable should be thinner and more flexible, especially connector, its pain in *** to attach and get it outside. All panel cables should de modular and detachable, in so tired to hide unused stuff like fan cables. Rgb controller should support regular ARGB and 4 pins ports or should at lest has connecters from cougars ports to regular argb+4pin. case should have all 8 fan slots equipped with their latest rgb fans.
Motherboard frame should be no so thin and screw holes should be detachable with solid metal, because current one has literally no limit of how hard you can screw them, them are bending and you can bend motherboard and have problems with PCIE alignment. This is really serious issue. Back panel of motherboard need like one extra mm to tie in well, because now its getting bend a little. Air routing panel should be 2-3 cm shorter to support radiator+fans inside config. Also i forgot to mention that upper panel should support 3x14cm fans config. Holes for fans and argb connectors of fans should be 2-3 mm wider. Maybe front, and upper panels should come packed with glass and mesh option so you can choose. But glass should not be designed like this, it should be inside metal frame that will use mesh connectors and upper and lower part of frame should have few CM meshes with detachable dust filters. and tight connection of frame with case. so the air could flow only through these dust filters. Oh and they should not forget to center fan frames on front and top to make them look perfectly symmetric.
Im pretty sure i forgot something, but thats all the problems and and things i with to improve for 5th revision that i can remember now. I really hope cougar would not stop production of this case and will improve it with new revision. i would pay extra 50-100 bucks if they will do everything i listed above i just want ultimate perfected edition of this case.

All Cougar Panzer line is garbage. I have the Panzer-G and im tired of modifying it to get basic things like mount a 240 on front and 360 on top. Also the gap between top coolers and motherboard is sick. The worst is the tempered glass of my model; had to separate them 1/2 inch with WC hoses (like expanded the glass support) in order to get a decent air flow. Make a lot more mods and im getting tired.
