progressive is always better than interlaced, so it's 1080p. a better comparison would be between 1080i and 720p (both are brodcasted), but in my opinion 1080i is better than 720p.
Yeah. I found it strange that not to many people have heard of it. I think I seen it on a show once and then while reading Stephen King's bio, he said that it was his favorite. I'm a really horror movie buff and it's hard to find a movie thats scary. But this one really got to me, I guess it was the setting, out in the middle of no where with all these creepy mannequins. I have yet to find a film that gets to me like this.

If you dont see a HUGE differ in animation movies from the old DVDs to the new ones, check your eyes. Animation is actually one format of movie who has the most improvment from the old format...
Well, technically 1080p is much better than 720p...over twice as many pixels. Although the human eye are not able to tell the difference over a certain distance. If you have a 50" screen and sit around 1,5 meter from the screen, you might see a greater amount of detail with 1080p. But otherwise, the 720p/1080p isn't really much of a difference on average sized TV screens.

i just download them or on the rare occasion buy the dvd but i am trying to convert most of them to my computer becuase the have been watched thosands of times and they are finally starting to show signs of wear

Since you have the HD DVD of "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory", It recently came out on Blu-Ray somewhere in October. You should check that out if you have another update coming.

The real advantage of HD-DVD and Blu-ray is not having to choose between full screen and widescreen.
