Nice collection I backed HD DVD at the time 😕 I realised while watching this vid that I've never watched a HD DVD in full 1090p. At the time I had a 720p HD Ready Hitachi Plasma. I've been thinking about building a HD DVD collection lately. Would be really nice to see the films in there full resolution glory
By the way I bought an LG Super Blu Player Model BH200! It plays both blu-ray & HD-DVD! I bought it before the Blu-ray format won. So I have about 50 HD-DVD's in my collection! I have about a half dozen of them combo disc's!
I love to see stuff like this! And I didn't really know this format existed until I heard Gary Whitta on Xcast podcast talked about this format. Now I'm digging everything I can find about this. Thanks! Subscribed.
Nice Collection You have there. I have all 480 Pal UK releases and the Toshiba HD-EP35 this Is the top of the Range player. You should look out for a copy of "Unleashed" (Jet Li) this Is the only format that has the Huge 5.1 Sound (Depending on your system) I guess you have the DVD and Blu-Ray copy's of this. So pull them out and check the Audio, and both will be 2 channels. Also Star Trek first Season Box set, and The Matrix box set as well. Thanks for Sharing.
@David Mander Hi David. There were Two machines at war with each other at the time. These were the Toshiba HD-E1 and the Toshiba HD-XE1 These were the European versions of the one I have. Mine Is the UK Pal version of these. Here In the UK It was between the Toshiba HD-EP35 and the Toshiba HD-EP35ke. So We both own the top of the range Machines from both Regions.
I collect HD DVDs also have the Xbox 360 HD DVD player I wish they would Implement in playing those in my Xbox series X that would be cool great collection
Im a huge fan of the LG super blu players. I have a BH200 i use so i dont need a blu ray player and a hd dvd player set up. have a spare toshiba a3 packed away as a back up. Fun format to collect for, this and LD are my personal movie formats for collecting.
Collecting DVDs is so much better than streaming number one you only have to buy the movie once not pay monthly Number two and you get higher audio Quality That’s why I collect DVDs still
Oh yeah, and the more absurd stuff was to dissapear disc recorders, obtuse manufacturers,Netflix can´t have all the programs in the world that you would like to watch often and to remember after their live transmission, physical formats shouldn´t fade away, streaming is not always possible to connect, committing the same mistakes what happened with Betamax.

My Warner Bros. discs have problems playing. Oftentimes while watching a movie on my HD DVD Player, the movie will just stop mid-sentence and I have to forward to the next scene. That doesn’t always work either.
All warner titles pressed between 2006 and 2008 will end up with rot, sooner or later, it's just a matter of time. Back in 2010 when people started to complain massively about it, warner admitted themsleves that problem caused by the faulty resin they used to coat the discs at that time and started a worldwide exchange program to swap the faulty discs for their bluray counterparts. Out of the 286 warner hd-dvd titles i own and that were bought in various parts of the world (US, UK, Spain, Italy, France, Australia...), only a dozen of them still work after 15 years ☹️
@@thierrydelage1681 that's not true. Only the titles produced in the Cineram plant in Olyphant, Pennsylvania. Warner had two other manufacturing sites, one in Toronto, Canada, and another one in Mexico somewhere. The fault can be traced back to a couple of machines In the Olyphant plant operating at that time. I thought exactly the same, that I would avoid WB discs. I originally bought 300 that didn't work, but recently I've been picking up the odd WB disc. To my surprise, all my recent WB pickups work just fine. There is a way to identify if the disk was manufactured in this plant. On the see through plastic ring on the middle of the disc, stamped very small, there will be an identification mark that reads 01FF. If your WB discs have this stamp then they were made in the Olyphant plant.
I live in a very small town but i own 8,000 movies in my collection but only 3 hd dvd's of Smallville , half baked and Elizabeth but I recently moved to an apartment and I couldn't bring my shelves so they are all stacked in my spare bedroom just waiting for my shelves to be made but if u live in canada I'll trade u 1 of the hd dvd's for the thing I love that movie
Oftentimes while watching a movie on my HD DVD Player, the movie will just stop mid-sentence and I have to forward to the next scene. That doesn’t always work either. Do you think the issue is with my HD DVD Player or with the HD DVD Disc I am watching? Also, do you have any experience with the HD DVD add-on Player that attaches to a Xbox 360 console?
That’s weird! I love never had that issue, I would think it would be the player if I had to guess. I’ve never had The 360 Add-on but I’ve always wanted one!
That's first signs of disc rot. It starts with random freezing during the movie or during layer changes, then some chapters start to be completely unplayable (usually towards the end of the movies) and eventually the disc will end up not loading at all (that can take a few years or be very quick depending upon storage conditions)... A good trick to know is that when a disc starts to rot, the color of the reading side of the disc shifts from silver to light gold (easy way to compare is to put side by side a non-rotting universal or paramount disc and a warner disc, if the color is more goldish on the warner disc, then you should better be ready to face problems with it at some point)

Cool background music. Nice touch to the video
Awesome! I’ve only just started collecting HD-DVD’s and I’ve got 43. Easily my favourite format to collect for. Loved the video, I’m gonna subscribe.
Stay away from wb titles they won't play they all suffer from disc rot
I still collect these
Nice to see I’m not the only one
Same here!
I still have my Toshiba HD DVD player, and about 15 movies
I would love to have a copy of The Thing to in my collection 😊 amazing collection. Streets of Fire is epic!
I wonder how different it would be now if the 360 had a built in hddvd player

Have you ever seen the Combo packs, that had flipper disc's with HD-DVD/DVD on either side of the disc's! I've got a number of them!
Nice collection although be weary of the HD-DVDs from Warners, as they're the most prone to disc rot, of all the HD-DVDs out there.
