If he for some reason got beat with lopsided chip lead, people will question why didn't the tournament official hand him the suit first! As you know this is poker, anything can happen. I understand the timing of it
Ya, timing makes sense. It would snub the other player if he wins, when they hand Addamo the jacket anyways. Completely overshadowing his achievement. It was a good call imo.
@@izzyduzzit00 do they pretty much all use backers other than old school guys like dnegs and helmuth and all them? What about guys that win a lot like chidwick does he still need backers you think ?

@@Romans8-9 what a fucking gangster. Never even heard of him now he’s instant legend. Do you know how he got those funds, just from personal online and live tournament play and maybe cash games?
Can someone answer a question for me. When these guys win any amount of money. What tax do they pay ? I thought in America that amount they pay 40% tax on gambling winnings , is that the case? If so it’s not worth it in my opinion as even the guy who cashed for $200k he entered for $100k. Wins $200k but then pays $80k straight away so effectively they’re risking $100k to enter in hope that you knock out so many of the field to cash at the main table to win a measly $20k? Surely risk vs reward seeks it not profitable? Can anyone shed some light on it as I know here in the UK any gambling winnings is not taxable
Professional poker players pay tax on their winnings subject to their income tax threshold, and can write off buyins and such as expenses. The guy who won 200k would write off his buyin and any other expenses (plane tickets, hotel, etc) he had in playing the game, then pay tax on his 'profit'. Also in the UK professional players are not deemed as gamblers, and do have to pay tax on their winnings.
There's major difference between playing leisurely and doing professional in terms of taxation. If you are an occasional seasonal player, gambling winnings have to be taxed while losses can also be deducted up to the winnings if you itemize and that's it. However if you declare yourself a 'professional' with intent to do it as your occupation, you may treat it as a 'business', all the expenses including losses, entry fees, hotel, meal, transportation, class, internet, massage, consulting, telephone, travel, mental and physical therapies should be able to be written off. Still if you keep losing year after year, the IRS may question about your 'profit seeking' objective, lol!
Addamo automatically loses 30% from withholding tax since USA has no tax treaty with Australia unless he is a dual citizen with some euro country and can get a better tax deal. If he has a good accountant he can still declare losses and get some back but would be hard since he wins everything. 🤣
Why is he getting the jacket before the tournament is finished? He still has one more opponent to play. Has the game been ruined by a point system over last man with all the chips?
The jacket is for the most points over the entire 12 torunament series and he had locked it up with his finish place already. Of course they were still fighting for the money and placement of this last toruney.
