You mentioned on the pod about Addamo's precise sizing in these situations. Addamo got into actuarial studies in Australia straight out of school. That requires, elite, and I mean fraction of percent elite vs population maths ability in high school. In terms of the pure maths of his decision making and bet sizing he would probably be better than anyone else in these high rollers. This is probably a factor, among a number of factors, that make him stand out even among these crushers.
It feels like the only better hands Brewer has here are KK no spade and AA maybe occasionally he 3bets T9s-ATs and plays it this way but man oh man is it a tough spot

Watching the turn pre-commentary, I was thinking the optimal choice from Brewer was to shove because there are way too many bad river cards that can come. I realize the downsides - you are never getting called by worse and unlikely to fold out anything that has you crushed; but it just feels like the best choice to me.
They started 200 BBS deep so calling flop with the intention of check jamming turn isn’t such a great idea. Addamo not only never calls with worse in that scenario, but he just gets to play perfectly (call with Tx and fives full, fold bluffs). QQ definitely has bad clarity across rivers here but doesn’t warrant a check jam on turn.
Definitely the best choice, shove once Addamo bets 32k
If Adammo has the ten then all the money is going in because Brewer really has to call, so going all in after Adammo bets 32k on turn is best option to deny equity. I know some will disagree but we all play different. peace.
Check showing the turn is okay-ish, but 3betting the flop is way better according to GTO.
The way solvers construct ranges nowadays, there are many hands that raise on the flop for equity denial or as a bluff (like 87 of diamonds or 44-88) that we crush with our overpair. So while it might seem scary, 3betting QQ or KK on the flop is the preferred way to play by the solver.
Knowing how wide Addamo is compared to more GTO players, that makes 3betting more profitable (and the fact that QQ block QTs that's in Addamo's range).
But what's scary about this is that it still forces you to play huge pots early on against Addamo, which is not what anyone is looking for in these high stakes tournaments.
Regarding the fold on the river:
Addamo has just a massive range advantage by the river. Not only does he have a decent amount of Ts (one combo of TT, a couple of AT, KTs, QTs which we block two combos of, JTs, T9s) and other hands that beat us on the flop (AA, 55), he can also have turned a boat or hit an A wirh a nut flush draw) that he feels obligated to bet.
That is a loooot of value, so ee cannot call too wide here, even against someone that we know can have a lot of bluffs.
Plus we can have a lot of those hands ourselves, so we are really not that high in our distribution and we don't really have any relevant blocker/unblockers with the queens. We just have better hands to call with (I'd set my treshhold at any Ax of spades I get to the river with)
And that analysis is exactly why Addamo crushes people like you.

@@tomcads1604 Is that who hes crushing tho? Like whos his opponent in this hand? I never heard of him. Btw Addamo uses zero live reads which is interesting. Kinda hard to be the best live tournament player in the world without utilizing live reads. Im suspicious of Addamo actually being number 1.

Hello Poker Guys, what are your hendon stats? It seems odd to me that people are putting educational/ training videos (not just in poker, but in general) without any advertisement about what qualifies them to speak authoritatively on the subject. You guys have any bracelets? major tournament wins? HighstakesDB online profiles? It just feels very odd couple of guys with zero credibility just decided to make videos talking about poker blabbering some terms they heard / read without knowing what they mean.
100% agree, announce who you are, before you start talking about one of the most complicated subjects in poker and the very best players in the game.

@@kingsally2864 it doesn’t happen enough imo. I think you need to check value to him a bit more often and then just close your eyes and call down. In this hand I think you have to call on all non spade turn/rivers.
There's numerous online hands where they station him and run into it. Bencb has been involved in a lot of hands where he "had to call" and Ben was then busted as a result. Addamo is just ahead of the curve currently vs world's best. Great player and a lot of fun to watch, also a gentleman who reps poker really well.
He's exploiting peoples weaknesses. He is good at knowing who will and won't do that. And when.
@@jeffreyyoungblood7438 no they've caught onto him which is why he's no longer dominating. People just started stationing him more and raising him more and he has been completely ineffective since the change.
Without specifying ranges & bet sizes, solver analysis is useless…
If you are non-gendered, can you ever make a binary decision bet? I think no matter what you do, it will be a non-binary act.
