    That's so funny about English knitters feeling "lesser than" sometimes because I knit continental and I feel the same way! All the knitters I know (AKA all the old ladies in my knitting group who taught me how to knit) knit English. They taught me how to knit continental since I came from a crochet background and it was SO much more comfortable for me, but I've always felt like the odd one out!

      Yes, I guess if you're surrounded by people that do the opposite of you, then you might feel a little left out. But honestly, all styles are perfect

    I'm so happy to have found your videos! Everything about them is so lovely.
    I also knit English and throw my yarn. The way I knit actually looks really similar to how you do, and I was just thinking about how nice it was to see someone who knit like me when you went into the little section about it haha
    Great pieces, lovely videos, keep 'em coming

    The soft lilac sweater is so beautiful! Wonderful work. I love that i discovered your channel, your content is so calm and cozy and beautifully shot and edited. Very nice to watch :) I am currently watching all of your videos chronologically.
    I am from germany and knit continental style. I feel like it is very common here. But i agree, everyone should pick the knitting style they are most comfortable with.

    I too always felt somewhat lesser?? Or slightly inadequate? About knitting English style, even to the point where I practiced continental for agesssss - it just never felt comfortable/natural for me. Loved the lil voiceover lol and the color combo ideas were great inspiration ! Love dressing in variations of primary colors
    ❤️💙💛
    This has given me inspiration to crochet too! Loved the video💜

      Same here! I soon realised there’s no need to feel like that, English knitting is as good as any other method. Thanks so much ❤❤

    I knit continental because my grandma taught me how to knit and that’s the way she knit ❤

      I think who you learn from definitely dictates how you knit❣

    I recently started knitting again and I noticed that what I learned from my granny is a weird combination of both continental and English style. So maybe that’s the best of both worlds.
    And of course I just wanted to say that I love your channel and I’m so happy I found it💕

    I knit continental- however I don’t agree with the judgement over English style knitting. Both styles have the same results, you just get there a little differently which I think is really cool that you can do something differently and still get a really cozy and beautiful result. I think people need to judge less and just enjoy their own journey and learn from others’ methods. ❤
    Edit: I love your channel! It popped up on my recommended videos and I’m so glad I clicked on it!!

      Thanks so much! Yes, that’s exactly what I wanted to emphasise, no matter how you knit, you can achieve the same result, I hope that sentiment came across 😊

    I'm a continental knitter because I learned how to crochet first, so I just held the yarn the same way when I started knitting. As a continental knitter, I romanticize English-style knitting. Continental knitting is typically faster, so it's easy for me to get lost in the speed of the knit, and get very tight and stressed. English knitters seems to slow down and enjoy the process more

    I actually knit Continental, English and Portuguese style.
    The reason is I want to avoid repetitive movement injuries. Also I match the style with the type of knitting. Nothing beats Continental for knit stitches; I use Norwegian purl for ribbing; English style for normal purling and Continental + English for colourwork. Finally, if I have huge amounts of purling, Portuguese style is the best.

    • @woozybyceline
      @woozybyceline  4 месяца назад +1

      That is insanely clever to change styles based on the different stitches! You’re a pro 😍

  • @AlinasBlog
    @AlinasBlog 4 месяца назад

    I knit continental with my index finger super close so my purls are Norwegian style 😅. I don’t think it matters which style as long as it works well for you. I heard Continental is supposed to be quicker but I never tried English so I can’t actually judge that.

    Ah, I've been desperately looking for a local knitting/craft group. I literally can't locate a single one, since they seem to be just composed of people who already know each other :( Finnish people tend to be quite reserved around new people, so I get why it's that way but it still sucks.

      It's hard to find people to knit with! Have you tried going into your local yarn shop? The might know of some groups xx
