With beef stew meat. Put it in the crock with a small package of beef short ribs. The short ribs have soooo much fat it helps the stew meat get super tender and faster.
A cheaper way to make jerky is with pork loin. Its easy to trim the fat off of and half the price of beef. Also pork shoulders are cheap. If you have a grinder you can make your own sausage with just the basic spices. I cook it in big batches just like hamburger crumbles. Then its easy to throw in with your scrambled eggs. With that same pork loin you can cut your own boneless pork chops. Pork can help bring the budget in line.
Wow! 😮 I so wish there was a Costco near me. I'm jealous! How lucky you are to have access to all that. Dextrose Dextrose Dextrose!!🤬🤬🤬 How I wish I knew about this while I was raising my boys 😢
Right?! Makes you so mad. We are farther from a Costco now but still go about every 4-6 weeks to stock up. It can be a dangerous store for your wallet though lol!
Wow great video! The meat portion was informative. I also enjoyed your "back in the day" moments of reading ingredients. It amazes me how many people never read what's in their food.
Good thing I just ate! 😂. We have Costco but rarely go there because it’s the farthest place from us (Sam’s is closer) And we still have a ton of beef left from our quarter cow and half hog be bought. Plus my work gives us meat boxes for Christmas and so I got a poultry box. My freezer is stuffed. 😂.
That is great. And that is the perfect gift (meat box). I'm all about 'consumable' gifts - I don't want to store things! We have some local farms nearby and hope to buy local in the future. Thanks 😊
Oh my goodness folks~ don't walk, run back to costco & grab one of those whole Sirloin Caps! That's the elusive, beloved-by-many Picanha steak, also known as Coulotte steak, Cap steak & sometimes it will just say "Sirloin", or "Sirloin Cap". We are usually able to get Picanha on base, at the commissaries, & sometimes at regular grocery stores in our area, but a whole lot of people in the meat-based community have a very difficult time finding it. It is absolutely divine, & plenty of info/videos on cutting it into steaks, very simple. I've not seen it whole like that~ good price btw~ as we typically see it already cut into steaks, which is known for a beautiful fat cap that runs the entire length of the steak, which is tender perfectly grained all one way to cut across, which I love. Hope you get a chance to try it~ maybe look up "picanha" or "coulotte" to see if you're interested first, of course. Is one of the beefiest, most buttery tasting cuts on the cow, imho~ SO tasty. *Pardon the dramatic first sentence, I was just surprised to see that @Costco.=) Thanks for sharing your walk through, & btw, most of us are well aware that you're not professional meat cutters, butchers, or cow disectors...just sayin'sheesh~& neither are we! Some of us simply enjoy seeing what others are seeing in their neck of the woods, so thank you for taking the time. ~Samantha in AZ
OMG - thank you so much for your comment. It is so frustrating that 1 cut of meat can have 4 different names. Stay tuned for more videos featuring the elusive Picanha!!!
If you got a Aldi near you they have the best price for ground lamb 🐑. I don't have a Costco so i tend to shop Aldi and food lion for my meats . Thanks for sharing the walk through and tips .
What do you make with the ground lamb? I love leg of lamb but I've never made it before. Our Aldi is a bit lack luster in the meat department but occasionally I can find good things there. Thanks for watching!
@@sideninehomestead the organic ground beef I find at Aldi . I mix pound each with my own homemade seasoning. I cook in crockpot for meatloaf or I'll make Italian meatballs. I add eggs to get as well then freeze it so it sticks together when I cook it.
@@sideninehomestead love leg of lamb . I normally use Redmond salts . Then grill it or roast . You can slice up for sandwiches or eat as is . There's a lot of great recipes for seasoning for lamb just look up see what you fancy.
Thanks for watching. It depends on where you live probably. Our selection in rural PA at our local stores is not good. It makes it worth it for us to pay a bit more to get better quality and selection.

Oh that's a great idea! I love stew - I bet the short ribs add a great flavor and mouth feel. Thanks for sharing!
4:51 Picanha (Top Sirloin Cap) is soooooooooo good!
Thank you!!! It's crazy that a cut of meat can have 4 different names. Stay tuned!

Keep in mind the pre cuts that are “tenderized” have a higher chance of contamination if not fully cooked

U often forget to give the price per pound so we could be compare
Making me hungry . ❤❤
That's the key - never go to Costco when you're hungry. That guarantees an additional $200 to you bill!
You always cut across the grain
Costco is too Expensive.. you can get better deals elsewhere. Plus the fruits and vegetables are garbage too

Absolutely correct!
Seriously??? Why are you making a video about meat??? You have no idea what you are talking about!
Never claimed to be a butcher - just a regular consumer buying food for my family.
