Canning Caramelized Onions!

- Not only did I do the easiest caramelized onions & get them canned up - I also used one of the meals in a jar we canned together with some instant mashed potatoes to make a shelf-stable meal that was DELICOUS!!!

If you cut them in half then freeze the onion before chopping them they won't be as strong.

I’ve read about how herbs can get bitter when pressure canning. Maybe next time you could add the herbs when you drain the broth to heat before adding flour….?
It was definitely the Thyme in there that I didn't care for. I made it again & only put in the tiniest pinch & I still didn't love it. I don't think it turned bitter in canning (mayeb a little bit?), I think it's just one of those herbs we never used growing up (my mom isn't big on using spices or herbs) so maybe we're just really lame? Lol!! But I'm going to leave it out next time too. The flavor isn't for me. 😆
What brand of food processor did you use it looks great
It's a KitchenAid & I LOVE it!! The bowl lifts straight off, you don't have to twist it to get it on & off but my favorite part is because the buttons are like switches they are easy to operate even if your hands are wet. My old food processor had buttons that I had to push pretty hard & it was tough with wet hands. This is SO much better!!
What is the brand name of the food processor?
It's KitchenAid. I don't think I showed it in the video but the container part of it just lifts right off & sets back on the base, it's so much easier than twisting my old one off & on! And because the buttons are more like switches than buttons to push its easy to operate even if my hands are a little wet. I have been 100% happy since upgrading to this one last year!
