- Written Review: masters-of-musi... This video is a review of the Alesis V25 MIDI keyboard controller. The other V series keyboards, the V49 and V61 are the same as well--they just have more keys. amzn.to/1q82WMr (affiliate link)

This looks amazing! Just enough knobs, pads, and just a little less knobs than I want, but that's not a problem because there is the v49.
I also love the fact that the pads are on the left because it's easier for me to keep a simple beat with my left hand. Definitely buying this!
It's really not that amazing. I'm using an Arturia Minilab 2 now that's quite a bit nicer. More knobs, more pads, nice keys, takes up less space on the desk.
v49 also has 4 knobs if you want more knobs you have to get the upgraded vi25 or vi49
@@masters-of-music7602 ok hobo
thank you for making such a comprehensive review.
solution is? D:
I know what you mean about the double hit. Thought mine was defective at first.
Its weird but I got the v25 first. Found out that i needed more than 25 keys. I loved the way it felt. I Actually felt my finger muscles working. The keys felt more expensive than my previous m-audio. I went and upgraded to the v49 and quickly realized that that the keys felt different. lighter and more m-audio ish. I didnt like the fact that i just spent more and got cheaper keys. I felt more inspired to create with the 25 keys because it was more dynamic and felt weighted. Now it feels like everything has the same range. Am i the only one that noticed this from testing both v25 and v49 within days of each other?
i used my alesis v25 like 5 times and my middle B key died. didnt realize all my favorite scales utilized B until i got my alesis. 😒 had the same problem with pads too. i bought it because it looked aesthetically pleasing, where it looked like actual piano keys. i thought it would have the same feel and resistance as a real piano but that was a long shot. if youre a musician going into production, just save up for a 49 or 61 key like he said. this thing is only good for mobile production.
JC Dator you should get the nektar impact. Any of there controllers in that series are great. Better then these.
Good review. As mentioned in the review, I do like how the pads are positioned to the left of the keys instead of above like with the Akai Mini and other controllers. The design of this is also much better looking overall than the Mini, but the Mini has more features. I can't decide on which to get.
Hey, which one did you get? I'm in the same position now
@@Ramix09 lots of complains about build quality on the alesis, but it has the better design. wondering if quality control is better now.
@@renatorod94 Yeah, I would buy an Akai but I already have a small midi keyboard, that's why I would prefer to get the big keys haha
You might have already checked it but komplete kontrol a25 could be an option
@@Ramix09 I got the the akai MPK mini2 and it been magic ever since.. ✌️
imo it was really fun to use SURE the drums have double tap but it's more likely if you softly touch the pads if you press them hard they hardly double tap
Wow so much information in just a few minutes, thanks for share.
It’s almost like there’s a feature for a slide-roll on the pads. But..it’s happens when you don’t want it to.
The akai mini does double hits too
I’m planning to buy this for my bday
Pog,
very helpful, looking at this, but will need good sounding drums, is it possible to import other sounds?
Its a midi controller, it's not about the controller you need a digital audio workstation to be able to utilize it.
@@jesusacristo307 so yes?
@@Psycho_SugarCraze no. you cannot import sounds into the alesis v25 midi controller.
GREAT review. Thanks so much for this!
man the double hit on the pads is killing me
I got the Alesis VMini. I love how compact it is, but the small keys get to me sometimes, that's why I'm here checking this one out. I also wish the keys and the pads of mine were more sensitive so I don't have to smash them when I want to play, especially the pads. (For the pads there is a setting in the software editor to set the volume output of the pads to a constant value, so if you want you can set them to the full 127. But that doesn't change the fact you still have to hit them relative hard to produce the sound). How hard do you need to hit these pads and the keys?
is there any way to assign a button for arpeggiator?
Thank you for the Review. I am buying this right now
trust me it's worth it all i feel like you should know about it is too NOT throw away papers and too tap the drum pads hard to not have them double tap
Good stuff. Thank you for posting this. Very valuable information. Stay safe and healthy.
those are some thicc keys
shut up key boy
works with every DAW? or only Ableton Live?
Hi, thank you for video. I`m choosing between m-audio keystation 61mk II and alesis v 61 or vi 61. I like key feeling on all of them but i hadn`t posibility to check sensetivity of keys, dynamics, responce. What will be if you will slowly press a key? I know that at good keyboards there will be 1 lvl of velosity at played note. It means a good sensetivity of keys. Give me an advice, please:)
Akai mpk 25 or Alesis V25?
For me Alesis V25 had a better design. But what about equipment quality?
Care Alesis plug and play on Ableton?
I´ve just sell my akai mpk 25, and i´m thing about to buy a Alesis V25... Could you help me ?
+Fábio Bittencourt Funny, I sold the V25 and got an Akai mpk61. The Akai has better build quality and way more features, so I'd stick with it if I were you. Both have automap with Ableton.
Sorry for my English. How can I set the buttons (keys) and the pads in order to have a more sound equal to any pressure?
what software? in fl studio u have to disable the velocity linking in the midi settings
Thank you for doing this.
I have the v49 and have the same problem with the double hit on the pads
and the solution is? (buy the v49 or no)?
i have no idea as to how to set up my Alesis v25 using the v25 editor ):
casimir thomas have you figured it out
I hope you did my man
Will I be able to learn how to play piano using a 25 key Midi Keyboard? 🎹
No! get yourself at least a 49 key piano
Will this fit in my backpack for traveling?
It would take a large backpack and if it did fit it would take up a lot of space. The mini version would be better suited for that.
Now its like $90 erebody found out about it..i wish i been knew...beautiful pads.. And pitch mod and all
is there much difference between the V25 and the VI25 other than just extra buttons and knobs?
Bueno y muy funcional. El v49 aún lo considero mejor por la extensión. Pero este es muy práctico.
How does it feel compared to Alesis V Mini or Akai LPK 25 or Korg Microkey? I'm looking for something with sensitive keys to be able to play softly, mostly for ambient synths etc.
how do you change the switches' functions? for example, you made #1 the record button. how do you do that??
I need to know the same thing
probably use the software you can download?
69 bucks? It was 129 last year and now 109. I wonder if they added anything to it that I didn't know
I need help seting up my V25
wait, so it comes with a version of ableton live and expand 2? Also, what are some good velocity curves for this?
Yeah, it comes with Live 9 Lite and Xpand2 usually. You just have to make sure, depending on where you get it from. I saw a version that came with something other than Xpand2. I never could get a velocity curve setting that I really liked.
Masters-of-Music Oh, I only needed it for the velocity sensitivity, since I already have a keyboard
+Masters-of-Music Yeah do you prefer synth weighted?
Nunya Dambidniss I like both, but yes, I prefer a lighter feel with stuff like this.
i use my v49 on both my macbook and my windows all in one and the sound is very low unless you slam the key. I love my Novation midi though.
Does expand just download?? Or what do u have to do
do you know if the drum pads, can be configurated to be lighted all the time?
how do you assign instruments to different keys/pads. like how you had a snare and a kick on 2 different pads. and how do you put drums on the keys?
you figure it out yet? 🤣
@@eleanora.c.h1450 did you? 😂😂😂
Can u use a Mac book Air?
ye
Could someone please show me how he set it up so the buttons would start recording and stuff like that
That’s what I’m tryna find out
@@Zavier21 I figured it out, in the top right of Ableton, where it says midi, if you click ok it you can assign the buttons
@@Zavier21 look up Ableton midi mapping
Can we use it for FL STUDIO 12 ?
There i a bundle where you can get fl 20 with this device

its a midi controller. Of course you can
What is better, Aturia minilab mk2 or Alesis v25?
This is awesome I use it for FL20
It works with FL?
hey, have you ever tried Nektar Impact GX series?. I was kind of confused, which one is the best to buy between Nektar Impact GX series and these Alesis V series.
How do I assign the buttons on Logic Pro X? I need help assigning them to stop, play, and record... can anyone help?
Thanks!! I was thinking in getting the something small but based on this video I will get the 49 instead of the 29 Do you think Alesis is better than m-audio?
I don't know which is "better". Both seem to be about the same level.
Does it work with FL Studio Mobile if I use a micro-usb to usb otg cable?
If buy the alesis keyboard music software Ableton free or what and ableton music software free means its full version or what?please tell me?
Sathish Kumar the alesis keyboard came with an ableton lite serial
Ernesto Montelongo thanks bro
how do I download the music software my pc
try google it??
Can the velocity sensitivity be turned off?
is it compatible with fl studio for rrecording
+DJ Dre Yeah.
+Masters-of-Music i just bought that one...im a fraid i never learn, im so old :(
+Tenori Huttunen SUOMI
Nana Nelli yees :)
is this for mac os x too or no? like the software and keyboard etc.
Jori Parson hope I'm not late. yes it is.
Arlen Loretz No you're fine. I am waiting a bit before I get it. Thanks for responding!
Jori Parson cool. I'm excited cause I'm getting it today!
I wanna make beats is this good for it cuz i just bought it
mee to
velocity pads are the reason i don't wanna buy it. older keyboards have same problem.
How can I set the buttons to a little timer or a play button????
Is Novation launchkey mini mk3 or the akai mpk mini mk2 better - if you work with ableton live10? (why?)
- because I already ordered the akai mkp mini mk2, but i can still cancel the order tonight and get the launchkey.
It's too late now..
I have trouble with the multilink buttons and the drumpads (Not the vst's) with Fl Studio 12... Any help?
this comes with xpand2? will it work in other DAWs?
Has anyone created a library of presets that can just be downloaded to the computer then to the midi keyboard without breaking your brain trying to figure out least byte most byte Etc.?
Hi, can one of you guys help me. Do I just connect the Alesis V25 to the USB on my laptop, and then can I use GarageBand or some music software?
I just got this keyboard today and I'm wondering what I am supposed to do download in order to use it and I have no idea what that to do. I would like to know what software I am supposed to be downloading. Also, how'd you make your keys make sound?
Anyone know of a keyboard similar to this size that is stand alone? I want something that's portable that DOESN'T need to be connected to a computer or controller. Needs to have it's own speaker or output to a stand alone speaker. Thanks in advance.
Great review, honest and to the point, thank you!
can i intall a sound from my pc to alesis v25 and play this sound again
hello i am between Alesis V25 and M-Audio Keystation 49..which one is better?
Does it has a Transport button? Or can you configure it? Like moving the tuning half step down/up
The click sound on the button is really a no go for me.
Looks far better than the akai mpk mini mkii.
can you change the sound of the keyboard in the Alesis website? example piano to synth?
Why Amazon do not sell to Cambodia??????
good pad?
yes very nice...I just got one today
I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW TO SET THIS SHIT UP ON MY MAC. I downloaded ableton and xpand by xpand doesn't show up in my applications and the keyboard makes no sound in ableton. I'm just so confused...
Does it have the arppegiator button?
I have the V49 and it is fabulous.
Please could you give me a step by step guide to setting this up
I have downloaded Ableton live lite but cannot get xpand 2
+Kieran Mills That's sort of a one time thing that I can't go back and redo, and I don't remember the exact steps. Alesis support should be able to help. I do recall the download page requiring a very specific date format to be entered. I had to redo it like six times before it would work.
Are some parts sold separate??? Cause i seem to be missing the peddle
What are the dimensions of the Alesis v25? Height x width x depth
I just recently got a v25 and I downloaded the software that came with it (ableton lite 9) and I noticed that when I play a key or a pad it is delayed which really screws with my playing. please help.
+Noah Taylor Read up on latency. It's determined by the buffer size set in preferences and is set by your audio interface. Lower is better. If you're not using an interface download Asio4all.
Does it works with garage band on ipad?
i just started making beat using fl studio
my question is does a midi controller kind of replace the fl studio sequence
because i want to be able to make beat without having to be clicking on the sequenser for every kick or clap.etc
Yes, you can record live into the channel rack as a pattern instead of using the sequencer
Hello, I need to make a big choice and I'd appreciate your help; Which MIDI should I get as my first/starter MIDI keyboard: ALESIS V25 or ARTURIA MINI LAB MKII?
i have the alesis and it's super good. the big difference between the two keyboard are that the alesis has normal sized keys, and the arturia has mini keys
150$ today !! Yes, the 25-key version !
$129 at guitar center
where tf are you shopping? the V25 is $90. the V49 is $150. fake news
Glloom guitar center. Brand new $129 had a sale going on.

Glloom what point are you trying to make? I paid exactly what the link says.
is it compatible with iPad apps (synths, daws...)?
how do i make it make sound, mine is scilent
how does this compare against the akai mini 2? im a beginner and it seems like the v25 and akai mini are standard to start with....Xpand2 makes me wanna go with the v25 but the velocity complaints are scaring me
+Sonic Asaad I didn't go with akai mini because they are so tiny. They are like kids toys and I knew my large hands would have trouble with those tiny keys. Xpand2 is pretty cool to start with. You can make lots of sounds with it. The pads just aren't the greatest on the V25 but they are usable. If you can afford one of the akai mpk models that's the way to go. I ended up getting an mpk61 on eBay refurbished for less than the mpk 25 key models go for new.
@@masters-of-music7602 you're a very honest person.. I'm buying the akai tomorrow instead of this . Thanks.
Does the keybed makes noise? Like nektar?
So should i buy it?
can you do a review on the software
Would this MIDI Keyboard work with FL Studio?
Jousty Yes
Jousty yea sharpie uses it
Incendiary Beats Sharpie makes shitty beats
with octave up and down the 25 key can be be switched to 88 keys ?
i mean i guess technically yeah lol
Is there a way to change the octave of the drum pads?
Thanks in advance!
Not specifically, I don't think, but you can change which notes are triggered via the Alesis V editor software.
Ok, Ill give that a try. Thank you.
How do I get the buttons to play and record?
Does it come with a USB cord?
would this work with garageband on an ipad?
Yes I have it and I play with it on iPad but you can’t start loops with it you can just play with the keys.
And you need the camera connection kit.
will this work with logic pro x
Raj T yes
can I like use a voice sample and set it to the keys to be able to play a melody with them?
+PierZeNation Yeah you can do all kinds of things like that using Ableton, which it comes with, or another DAW.
+PierZeNation of course
i cant connect it to my laptop help me out
I use Cubase how I can upload and download tones via keyboard control?
If you're wanting a different tone or instrument you have to toggle that in the DAW. The keyboard is only a controller.
