If the FedEx situation is that dire I wonder if there’s a scenario where they’d temporarily play in Baltimore’s stadium (for reference, the Ravens stadium is only 30 miles from FedEx and is practically as far from DC as Landover is)
There's no scenario in which the Commies would ever play in Baltimore. You even suggesting that says you know nothing about the two cities. Landover is 10 miles from the District border, and in PG County, which is a million people. It's not "in the sticks", there just isn't much around the stadium itself. The Commanders will move when their new stadium (probably in DC) is built in the next few years.
@@MP-ps2yw Well, use some common sense: The Commies practice facility is in Loudoun County, which is 90 mins from BMore on a good day with Beltway traffic. The scheduling conflicts of two teams sharing that particular stadium would be massive. The Commies OWN their stadium, while the state of MD owns the Ravens'. Who do you think gets shafted in this arrangement? Why would the Commanders do that, under any circumstances? And oh yeah, the two cities have absolutely nothing in common. Landover is only about 10 mins from the District line, and a LARGE percentage of Commies fans live in PG or MoCo, which are the MD counties adjacent to the city. It's also accessible to fans in NoVa. You can get there via Metro. All that changes in BMore. You clearly know nothing about this area if you think the stadium is as close to DC as it is Baltimore. Keep your misinformed opinions to yourself. 🤡
I don’t follow your logic in picking Hawaii. Yes the stadium is small but you said yourself that there’s little demand for college football in Hawaii, so why should they invest in a new stadium that they’ll never fill, purely as a vanity project? Venture outside the resorts and you’ll quickly realize the state of Hawaii has a lot of problems and not much money.
The NFL Pro Bowl was really the only thing that ever made Hawai'i having football, let alone a big stadium, make any sense. But since that's now moved to Orlando and is a shell of what it used to be (hardly an event worth travelling to like it once was). Maybe a 20-25K seat stadium is all they need. No need to go any bigger than that.
Hawaii should look at Empire Field in Vancouver, the stadium used by the CFL and MLS teams while BC Place was renovated. It was all temporary bleachers bolted together and covered in tarps to make it look presentable from a distance, but it held 27,000 and only cost $14 million to build. After two seasons, the contractor disassembled and took back the leased grandstands, and they left the turf field, bathrooms, and light towers for the community to use. Not as good as a permanent stadium, but certainly better than the current field. Of course the university might not want to do any temporary fixes; the longer they put up with this current stadium, the more pressure it puts on the local government to fund a permanent one.

The Winnipeg arena was built for the AHL team Manitoba Moose and then the jets moved in 2011 when the thrashers moved because the arena was already built
Ummm no it was built to bring the Jets back to Wpg. It was openly stated as such when the city council first announced it would be replacing the old Eaton's Place building which was sitting there empty. The idea behind building the Life Center was to prove to the NHL that a small market can still house a NHL team and it was sized as such. Building a bigger fancier arena wouldn't do squat to bolster fan attendance it would only mean a bigger more expensive building with more empty seats and probably more expensive ticket prices. Personally, I'm not surprised that right now the Life Center is only selling to around 85% capacity during regular season games. You only have to see the financial turmoil caused by the COVID lockdowns and the ever increasing squeeze in cost of living to the lower and middle class fueled by Trudeau's carbon tax hikes to understand ticket sales for most sporting venues are down across most of Canada, especially small market locations. In any case, the Jets are more then likely gonna make the playoffs which means sold out games plus overflow into Winnipeg square are gonna become a thing again. Also, you only have to see the latest polls to know that the federal liberals are on their way out and the new conservative party will probably become the new majority govt. Once that happens the carbon tax will get tossed out the window, or so the conservatives claim, and that should also go a long way to reducing the financial pinch of the middle and lower class in Wpg as well as other small market Canadian areas with sports franchises. I think in the long run the Jets will be just fine. They're doing a lot better financially then a lot of other franchises right now. Considering Wpg and the province of Manitoba is considered a hub for hockey fanaticism the Jets won't be going anywhere anytime soon nor the foreseeable future. I've been in the Life Center tons of times for hockey games and concerts, the arena is sized perfectly fine for the market its in and its a nice modern building with a great atmosphere. Don't fix what's not broken.
Honorable mention nycfc in mls plays in Yankee stadium as well as city field, and their rivals stadium in New Jersey since 2015 but they are finally getting a stadium in a few years
It was always intended and built with the intention of getting an NHL team.....they said that from the day it was first announced so that's a major cop out. It cost twice what most AHL rinks at the time did like $150million which is $250million today when almost every AHL rink is still sub $100million
If anything, the bears have the worst situation in the NFL. They've been talking about a new stadium for years and now the White Sox want a new stadium. The city of Chicago most likely only getting one new stadium.
Not to mention the grand trio while most cities are very liberal sanctuary states are funneling money into their asylum status that they are just now trying to deflect from... Places like NYC and Chicago don't have money to spend.... They already tax the hell out of the contributures of the population and they more they try to shake the money bags the more will leave.
No, the Bears do not have the worst situation. It may less than ideal, but Washington's stadium is a dump. Just reference all the videos where you see flooding, rats, fans falling because the railing collapsed, etc. Players used to complain about the condition of the grass at Soldier Field, but the Park District replaced the turf before the last season and that has improved. Still Soldier Field > Commander (FedEx) Field.
Maybe a major renovation of Captial One Financial Corporation Arena in Washington DC is needed. Leave it alone. Federal Express (FedEx) Corporation Field will no longer be that anymore. FedEx broke their naming rights agreement.

I don't think there has ever been a stadium that was built for as bad of reasons as FedEx Field and it was pretty bad even back when it was new and it just has gotten worse. Talk to ANY old school Redskins fan and they will tell you how much they hated FedEx field from the very start. RFK was a great stadium, it had great city access, the end pillar of the Mall in Washington and just served a great purpose and was in use after the Redskins moved for over 20 years after and I am 99% certain the Redskins could have squeezed another 15 years after that and instead would have gotten a much better stadium in Washington in the early 2010s and we would not have this discussion about crappy FedEx field.
why did they build FedEx in the first place, as the team should be In DC and one would think they could of upgrade RFK or maybe built a new stadium on the same site?

You should point out that arenas and attendance is a much bigger deal in the NHL since NHL doesn’t have a strong media deal. They depend more on their arenas for revenue.
With few exceptions, every NHL team shares a venue with an NBA team. Attendance isn't always better for the NHL Team, unless that team's good and the NBA team is bad (like in DC).
Explain Vegas then? Putting teams in deserts is only stupid to hockey fans who want their sport to forever be only in cold weather locations and not grow beyond that. Props to the NHL for ... You know... Trying to go the actual sport beyond cold weather white majority areas

Georgetown - Capitol One Arena. Also played at the Capital Centre/US Air Arena in Landover. Former home of the Washington Bullets/Wizards.
Marquette University - Fiserv Forum. Also home of the Milwaukee Bucks.
Creightion University- CHI Health Center. Professional Level Arena (No NBA Team in Nebraska obviously).
Providence - Amica Mutual Pavillion. Professional level stadium. No NBA team obviously.
St. John's - MADISON SQUARE GARDEN. Need I say more about that one?
Seton Hall - Prudential Center. Used to play at IZOD Arena which was home of the Nets before they moved to Brooklyn.
Villanova- Wells Fargo Arena. Used to play at the Spectrum and moved along with the 76ers.
The only 2 exceptions that play ON CAMPUS are Butler and Xavier. Hinkle Fieldhouse is historic by itself and by it being in Indiana it is going to be built big. I'm from Indiana so I know. Xavier is rather new to the Big East as are several others.
The POINT is the Big East was BUILT on playing in the large NBA/Professional size arenas. Don't take my word for it. Look them up.
"The whole Big East conference plays in NBA arenas."
Butler: Not an NBA arena
UConn: Not an NBA arena
Creighton: Not an NBA arena
DePaul: Not an NBA arena (WNBA moved in after the Blue Demons did)
Georgetown: NBA arena
Marquette: NBA arena
Providence: Not an NBA arena
St John's: Plays *some* home games at MSG, but it's not their permanent home arena.
Seton Hall: Not an NBA arena (NHL)
Villanova: Plays *some* home games at the Wells Fargo Center, but is not their fulltime home arena
Xavier: Not an NBA arena
Ya, seven of the eleven members don't play *any* home games in an NBA arena. Six if you want to get really technical with Seton Hall since the Nets *did* play there for a few seasons.
@@ReinSouls I may have misspoken by saying the whole conference. The point I’m making is that when the Big East conference was put together the made their mark by playing in large arenas and not in small gyms on campus. Of course there is not an NBA team in each of those cities. But I’m sure you understood the context of what I was saying which is clear by your response. I had another comment on here earlier which did exactly what you did. I listed where every school played or used to play. But it was deketed.
@@ReinSouls I think what the OP was saying was most Big East arenas aren't your typical on campus venues. Of the arenas you listed, only Butler and Xavier are on campus. UConn plays in a former NHL arena. Creighton plays in the city's civic center. DePaul used to share an off campus venue with the WNBA, and still does. Seton Hall has shared a venue with the Nets (in East Rutherford and briefly in Newark), before they left for Brooklyn. Providence's arena is also off campus and owned by the city, and shared with minor league hockey.
And the Hawaii legislature has apparently shot down the latest proposal for the stadium district I personally think this is a DAMN SHAME!!! I think that the Hawaii football program could be a good to reliably really good football program. Football is the most popular sport in the Hawaiian Islands. The state for its size produces a fair amount of D-1 football talent including some of the most recent better D-1 quarterbacks. The island of Oahu has more than a million people on it which provides a ready-made near fan base. And I personally think that this program could actually be a Power 5 (or whatever it will eventually be) program. Hawaii football deserves better than this. It is actually a proud program with a decent history and tradition. And this is coming from a Tennessee fan!!
Smoothie King Center really isn’t a bad arena. I’ve been to plenty of games there, and it’s perfectly fine. It can’t be much worse than Dallas, OKC and others.
@@robertl.andersonii5926 and replying with absolutely nothing to back up your statement is supposed to make it look like you do?
How is their current stadium different than your brilliant idea?
You STAY on the wrong side of the argument when it comes to Georgetown basketball and the rest of the Big East. The whole Big East conference plays in NBA arenas. The proposed 'Rogers Garden' (if a shovel ever goes into the ground) is expected to cost around the same as the original complex for just an arena that will be SMALLER than Edmonton's Rogers Place. And it will be built on a floodplain again. Ginger is too fussy. There is nothing wrong with Smoothie King Center.
Hawaii’s new stadium looks like a soccer stadium
Lived in Hawaii for 23 years, the chances of a new stadium in 20 years is remote.
Hawaii is in a tough position. But I don’t know what’s stalling the new stadium development.
Just wait 'til the Las Vegas A's play in the Sydney Australia Opera House!!! That'll be interesting and colorful!!!
Honorable mention nycfc in mls plays in Yankee stadium as well as city field, and their rivals stadium in New Jersey since 2015 but they are finally getting a stadium in a few years
Canada Life Centre was built for the Manitoba Moose to play in. When the Jets moved in, it was to small and not up to NHL standards
They can both have new stadiums if these billion dollar businesses would build their own instead of making the public pay for it.
@@pjbth Yeah. It's Chicago though. 99.999999999999% the public is going to have to pay.
Neither team needs a new stadium.

CapOne Arena is slated for an $800M renovation but the place is hardly a dump.
Your content is so stale. How many times do you have to talk about the smoothie king center. It's not top tier nba arena, but it's nowhere near as bad as you make it out to be. You have probably never stepped foot in the place either.
I have said this many times before over the last 25 years, FedEx Field should have NEVER been made.
Well RFK would have needed a upgrade like Lambeau Field and Soldier Field. But RFK was a better site then across the river in Maryland
why did they build FedEx in the first place, as the team should be In DC and one would think they could of upgrade RFK or maybe built a new stadium on the same site?
RFK seated about 56,000 at most. The builders didn't think ahead and should have realized it needed at least 12,000 more seats.
@@davidlafleche1142 depends on the demand. When the Raiders came back to Oakland. Oakland at the time should have built a small nfl stadium for them to match their market. We over built especially now in a social media age. Depends on your team/market

I've seen Hawaii's old stadium in person before.
One of the most legendary stadiums in world football, Old Trafford, is in a horrible state because the glazers have done little to no work on it since they bought manchester united in the mid 2000s. Capital One Arena is NOT one of the worst arenas in the NBA/NHL. It is actually one of the best. That being said, it has never been a good arena for college sports.
It's fine for Georgetown when they're winning, just as the Capital Center was.

Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. L O L. Built for the NFL.
Saint John’s is once again saved by capital one arena jeeeez give DC a break one time just allow it.
What does the outside matter? Fans don't stand outside they go inside watch the game.
I'd say that maybe matters in MLB, but that's it.

dude why are you always shitting on smoothie king center??? it’s not perfect but it’s not nearly as bad as you’re always making it out to be. our city is not one of great wealth, and most people going to pels games are basic blue collar middle class who really don’t give a fk about whether we have glam suites or ridiculously huge LED screens or not, we’re there to watch a real game, we don’t need the flash and glam! added bonus we have reasonable ticket prices and that makes going to games affordable to the average joe! the place consistently rates 4.5 / 5 on all major sites, has great acoustics, is in the heart of downtown, it’s got the luxury of having access to all the superdome amenities of parking and champions square, and no one here is complaining about it! it’s ridiculous that the nba is trying to extract these billion$+ arenas from teams that then price themselves out of reach from die hard fans who go to a game for the sake of the game itself not the venue! stop hating on the place!!!! we’re good with it …. and the superdome !!!!
The Hawaii stadium looked fine for that program. Way better than Aloha Stadium.

Putting an NHL team in the desert is just plain stupid.
Explain Vegas then? Putting teams in deserts is only stupid to hockey fans who want their sport to forever be only in cold weather locations and not grow beyond that. Props to the NHL for ... You know... Trying to go the actual sport beyond cold weather white majority areas
