I look forward to the breaking of the siege of Betazed video. Your Earth Romulan war battle breakdowns were fantastic. The formations, tactics, and ship types and capabilities make me wish they had shown that war in the continuity of enterprise show when it was on air. Keep up the good work sir.
Extremely exciting month to say the least! It really is interesting to see how this war takes a toll on Cardassia through this series specifically. As the war goes on, the Cardassians just take more and more casualties and slowly but surely their navy is wittled down, until now we only have 10 cardassian orders left (not counting the joint orders). During much of 2374, the Cardassian navy significantly outnumbered its dominion allies but now they're even if not lesser. Its a subtle detail here but it goes a long way to show how low Cardassia fell by the war's end.
"Breaking through the perimeter will be a very ugly very bloody job." Vice Admiral William Ross (DS9 07X24) "The Dominion has demonstrated the capacity to build ships incredible great we should continue the attack." Chancellor Martok. "But at what cost, we have already lost a third of our fleet?" Vice Admiral William Ross. "Admiral, with the Cardassians joining us we have an opportunity to end this war." Captain Benjamin Sisko. "Very well, we continue on." Vice Admiral William Ross. "My friends, song will be sung about these day." Chancellor Martok. (DS9 07X25,26) These are some of my favorite lines of Star Trek DS9. I pray and hope you can do them justice in your retailing of these Dominion War series, I enjoy the last two years of series Qu'pla Venom Geek Media
The Dominion found lots of ways to bounce back, but they also enlisted allies and support at the most opportune times. What happens when they have no more allies?

@@venomgeekmedia9886 wasn't morphogebic disease/cure work to convince the founders to stand down and end the war before the would be blood bath Cardassia Prime. The female Founder was ready to have Dominion go down fighting to last soldier until Odo convince her otherwise.
The dominion falling back into a strategy of defence in depth is probably the best strategy they have at hand. If the Breen had entered earlier during their massive raiding campaign then they could have possibly employed their skills in their raiding campaign, they could have also used the energy dampening weapon more sparingly at this earlier phase of the war and targeted the biggest threats of the Romulan warbirds to keep them out of the war. (James Ryan BTW)
The Dominion defense strategy is very reminiscent of both Soviet and German defensive strategy. The many layers of defense was a Soviet speciality. But a hidden defense with intentional canalization of enemy probes, as well as strong maneuver units to act as fire brigades to seal off enemy armor penetrations was the bread and butter of the German defensive specialist par excellence, Field Marshal Walter Model. Obviously the Joint Orders are not unlike the Panzer Corps Model used, with such elite units as GrossDeutschland and the independent SS Heavy Panzer Battalions.
If you look at a lot of the past Dominion successes, the Cardassians played an intregal part as well. Cardassia was a formidible Alpha Quadrant power once equipped so their rebellion was the serious error that pushed the Dominion to defeat. Funny, how Dumar is helped by Kira. Both had great story arcs and Kira saving Cardassia was another one.
I was watching this video and started thinking about fronts. In land battles, you can literally have a frontline, manned by infantry and studded with strongpoints. At sea, you really can not have a front line due to the vastness of the oceans. At best, you may have contested areas by patroling ships or fleets. In this scenario, you would need key islands or landmasses to base naval bases to support the naval vessels. What would you have have in 3D space? I think the scout ship with long range sensors suddenly becomes a more vital and larger portion of a starfleet. Might be a good topic for you next long car ride with Drachinifel.
I imagined, . Dominion vessels using cloak detection, long range tacion sensors. ( late war version) with a breen cruiser ( and its dampening weapon) hunting klingon and romulan warships. , and the breen can cloak. , I imagine the romulans were the prime target, and then the klingon fleet was defending ( 1500 , say 500 on each front) .. the decision to refit the entire dominion fleet with the breen weapon was a major strategic error. The failed to fully exploit the advantage. ,and it bought time for the allies
I love the effort you put into these videos. What were the Breen thinking putting their resources towards the Dominion who were LOSING the war up until then? It HAD to have something to do with that Breen being held at the internment camp in the Gamma Quadrant. He was probably replaced but still how did the other Breen go along with that? Maybe they thought they would never get a chance again at creating a huge Breen presence in the Alpha Quadrant
So the Dominion plan also implies the use of strategic reserves behind the front lines. Large battlegroupds which can rapidly be deployed to counter threats/counterattack. Your front end fleets/systems take the first punch, stall the attack, then your reserve fleets hit.
It would be good if there was a long term outlook of the breen and cardasians after the war. I think there would of been significant military restrictions on both.
I sure hope the Dominion aren't planning anything serious like the complete annihilation of the Cardassians by keeping their ships away from their home planet.
It seems to me , cardassian space was so we'll fortified that the allies, decided to mount a combined fleet offensive directed at cardassia prime ( chop of the head and the body will die ) so large the dominion had to pull back the majority of its fleet , if the allies didn't end the war soon they would have lost . It was a desperate roll of the dice ( but it worked), especially after upcoming cardassian events.
Given that the morphogenic virus was literally genociding the Dominion's entire leadership caste even if this offensive failed to produce the knockout blow, eventually the virus would have. I had the impression in the last episode the Founder was nearly dead as she was no longer able to shapeshift, the others wouldn't have been that far behind. Without them the Dominion falls apart. Plus there is the full scale revolt of the Cardassians, adding numbers to the Federation Alliance. Plus on top of that the Federation was getting its war economy back on track after its space had been entirely liberated.
The Dominion's defensive deployment is somewhat reminiscent of the 'checkerboard' deployment scheme that NATO ground forces employed during the late 1970s in West Germany.
Interesting thing about the Breen even though you never see what they look like under their helmets, apparently they sent one of their own to Earth in the 21st century to pose as a Real Estate agent in Las Vegas and make incomprehensable movies.
Dominion has done very well to hang in the fight for this long, but they are now operating to that tune Obrien mentioned early on and would have been for last several months if it weren't for the breen of engage, retreat, engage retreat. Now with the full force of the alliance bearing down on them and ready to make their numerical superiority count and invade Cardissia in depth and question is can their fortifications and fleets defending their home defences hold the line or crumble before the overwhelming firepower and numbers weight of the enemy forces attacking their homeland.
Interesting so the Dominion sent all the Cardassians to the front lines where they will suffer the most casualties... And they wonder why the entire populace is ready to revolt against them? I thought the same thing when the founder ordered all the teachers, scientists, etc to be questioned about Damar and the rebels and be made to understand in no uncertain terms that dissent wouldn't be tolerated... I guess the founders aren't as good a judge of character as they think because even I know that's a stupid thing to do to a people as proud as the Cardassians... They basically forced the Cardassians to rebel by the end LOL
Two questions. Why was the federation considered a major power post war considering loss of material manpower and occupied space Also who was most powerful. The Typhon pact or the kitamar alliance
Postwar, the Federation could have been said to have lost a lot of manpower, but they should have retained all their original borders, and material "costs" probably don't count. The biggest costs would have been ships, and maybe installations/star_bases, but Federation shipyards are the fastest in the Alpha quadrant. Further, the Federation seems to operate in a post-scarcity & post-monetary economy, where there are no loans to pay back, or timber lands that need generations to regrow. So, post war, the Fed's would have been in the best position of any of the major Alpha Quadrant powers.
I think the most important reason the Federation was in the best shape of the Alpha Quadrant powers comes down to two factors. 1 before and after the war they had the highest population about 900 billion I think from the over 100 members and the colonies. 2 they started to get their act back together after the Borg attack and the easy destruction of the Oddessy by the Dominion during their first encounter. But it was really the Dominion war itself that galvanized the Federation and spurred the leadership and the citizens to do their utmost to improve their ships and other defenses from then on. You can bet as soon as possible after the war ended they continued the shift to their efforts to rebuilding and improving their defenses. No more of those outdated systems which made it easy for Betazed to be conquered. You see the Federation has a much greater economic power than any other powers always has because of the huge population and the ideas of many species coming together. But they rested on their victories against the Romulans and peace with the Klingons and became complacent but that will never happen again because threats to their security has been imprinted into the people's hearts. If we ever get a real Star Trek sequel taking place after DS9 and Voyager ended we would see a very impressive Federation no doubt in my mind!!!
The federation have a huge pull to draw manpower from, since nearly every member species can join starfleet. It's just that they aren't so easy to mobilize as the Klingons
Running the numbers again the Cardies have lost in fact 4 of there 6 shipyards in this war as 3 to Allied strikes and 1 sabotage over 2/3rds of there ship building in rear fronts as they can build faster the production numbers are starting to evenly match each other where the Dominion tactics work against them as they take more losses then can replace plus garrison all Cardy space
No, the Dominion always planned to wipe out the Cardassins. They wanted all of the Cardassins ships to be away from the core worlds. So when the purge started, they wouldn't interfere.
Cardassins were their allies. When the allies back them into a corner and Cardassins switch side when Dominion full final solution on Cardassins to make the allies victory taste bitter.
