Dan, awesome vid--thank you... not sure if you know---factory prevents full speed/mph unless seat/back positions are totally out of any recline setting; if reclined a little, the chair acts like it has battery issues. Also, after 50+ years using power chairs; I've cheated for more speed, less vibration/ruff ride/gravel/mud traps on all my rear wheel drive chairs. How? Find rims to match bounder lug bolts, which fit wheelbarrow or go-cart tires... Of course, greater circumference will raise center of balance, etc., but especially void warranty and "right to sue". So, if Top Gun's "need for speed" fails on course corrections, big ouch--Be Careful... I haven't yet made these upgrades to my new Bounder--can't wait!
Yeah, changing those tires is way more difficult than it should, or could be. I also don't get the plastic spacers, and then two of them, and different. Then the larger one is "not beefy" enough!! Rotating the slightly aired up tube inside the tire so the valve stem wants to protrude trough the wheel hole also takes some patience. You tires are huge!! You can se they grow a lot as you fill them. Anyway, thanks for the tech tips Dan. They were certainly not lost on me!!
Thankfully my Magic Mobility Frontier V6 AT is decently water protected. It does me well in our PNW winters. Thanks for sharing this, I really enjoyed it!
Greetings from cornwall uk,I have recently done a tyre conversion on my wheelchair using childs atv 145x70-6 wheels and tyres for a chinese LT50. Their still 14 inch diameter but 2.5 inch wider. An adapter had to be made to prevent rubbing on the frame. They are tubeless but a tube can be used.less fuss than split wheels!
This has prolly been asked, and I realize, this is a older video. But... In the thumbnail, is that a headlight? If so, can u tell me a bit about it? Where u got it & did it come with the chair? How did u install it?
I actually got my Bounder last spring, but I got both the off-road package and the 48v option so it goes 16mph. Love it! I would like to replace the split rims, though, so I could use tubeless tires without tubes, but don't know all the detailed measurements of the rims like the offset and whatnot.
I'd definitely get aluminum spacers made up for those tires. Any hobby machinist could make them up just imagine no slop to take up you could make the rims bolted together so you would take it off without draining air . Alignment would be exact without wasting hitting to get wobble out. Plus if you hit a curb it will throw the plastic non screwed wheels out. I own two wrangler scooters there wheels are split I bolted them together so it's easy to change a flat with spares made up. They sell chain cleaners that mount on the frames of bicycle for off road bikers. Oilers too I think.
21st Century Scientific was located in Van Nuys California I worked in Woodland Hills. I had a 12v E & J power chair. I think they had 90% of the market back then. Anyway, 21st Century and put their 24v battery case, motors, logic box, joystick, and connected their direct drive motors to my 24 inch E & J drive wheels with an automotive fan belt. Their motor brakes looked identical to yours but they didn't last very long - it seems I ran into things and they either stop working or fell off. (I am assured that they are much better a quarter-century later.) So so I would push the joystick forward to go and pullback to stop. Simple.
Hi Dan have you looked into a o'ring chain ran them on my MX bike back in the day low maintenance just a light spray of WD40 and they last a lot longer which helps in the long run.
I’ve watched many of your videos and Appreciate your help & advice. On one video I remember you getting some equipment to help download your Go Pro to computer faster. Now I can’t find that. Please let me know what video it was? Or if you remember the products Please let me know what they are? We changed internet providers and now my Brother can’t download his Go Pro to computer. I told him I remember you having a fix. Thanks!
hmmm i cant remember that right off.. but i just connect the camera directly to the computer now and it works well. the hero 5 and up have a USB C port on them - for windows, connect the camera to computer THEN power on the camera after its connected. for mac, turn on camera, and then connect it to computer - then use your video editor or the 'image capture' utility (its built into every version of macOS - in the applications tray)
BUY some spacers... what !!! ??? ...the Genius that you are is going to BUY some STEEL rusty crap? Get some aluminum stock awesomeness and make a couple spacers up using your metal lathe Dan/ Norm !!! We all know you can do it ! :-) FYI: They sell chain break tools for motorcycle chains too... but that might be too heavy for this application. I love these recent how to Vids. Great job Dan.
Dan I got a question for you I got a bound her wheelchair bound and plus this thing Dose 21 mph I was clock by radar gun And that’s on full charge I got lithium ion battery 48 V but my question is my left side tire it’s wearing out on the inside I think my Camber off How do you adjust that camera on the rear tires
YOU GOT THE ULTIMATE POWER CHAIR!!! SWEET!! i wanted one of those 48v ones so bad! they stopped making them though :^/ yes- so i had camber issues on mine as well with the giant tires i put on the back.. if you lift the seat up, and pull out the battery box, you'll see the swing arms that the motors are mounted to - there are 3 BIG heim joints - basically you have to loosen the jam nuts on those, pull out the bolts, and adjust them to set your camber. i cant remember if i did this in a video or not.. ill have to check. but ya want to make small adjustments - as moving the motor swing arms can cause things to interfere with other components.. but it helped a ton on my chair!
Hello Dan, my name is Les I'm watching v-log 473 my tires are coming apart on my Bounder so I'm going to change them so I looked up your video period as I was watching it you were adjusting chains and you said you had a neutral switch on the back of the chair Bounder Offroad I am totally unaware that there is a neutral switch please enlighten me by taking a screenshot and texting it to me. Are you by chance talking about the switch that turns the power off to the brakes mine is located on the side of the chair or is there another switch that actually puts it in neutral enjoy all your videos and when I work on the Bounder I always end up looking back on some of your videos for instruction and to build my confidence up LOL thank you so much ldr. )-[@#=]
on my chair with dynamic DX2 controls.. its just a momentary switch that lets ya push the chair around manually while its held down. on the other chairs that have UE1 (in house electronics) they use a slightly different setup that lets ya disable the brakes completely :^)
I'm curious, I got an M3 and live in a tiny carpeted apt. The casters jerk it around when backing up, I almost ran over the cat. Is there anything I can ask the guys at Numotion to adjust to reduce this flailing.?
so thats kinda nature of the beast.. it comes down to castor control.. ya have to make a very slight sideways motion to set the direction of the castor wheels before changing direction - im going to be doing an actual video about this at some point.. but for now here's a couple short clips to try and explain... ruclips.net/video/i1Eyzkx3Q8E/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/PBQPMq6BtFs/видео.html permobil chairs are very susceptible to the jarring from castors flipping around on carpet due to the geometry of the castor arms, and their trail. it took me a while to get used to.. but in the back of your mind ya just have to think of where the castor wheels are pointing before ya move, and make small adjustments to compensate. its annoying.. but gets better over time :^)
Actually Don "you" get better at compensating for it. The chair doesn't get better over time. Lol. Its like me switching from my rear wheel drive chair to my front wheel drive. When I first take off in it I'm dangerous to anything within a foot or two radius til my mind kicks in and starts compensating to the switch. I'm curious though how you manage. You don't seem to have much of an issue with it except maybe getting nestled in behind the wheel of your van if I remember correctly. Or maybe you said you weren't able to with the rear wheel drive. Medication memory we discussed the other night is getting me on this one lol.
@@TotallyNormal- Oh I see the pitch isn't 100% match. Maybe a local industrial transmission company could find the correct parts. Either way keep on truckin! I use a manual chair and if I'm outside with the kids and the dogs I use a front wheel power attachment. It's good but not anything like the chairs you have.
Very interesting, thanks.

Thanks for the tips!! I am going to service one where a chain fell off, they accidently ran over a blanket.
Egad!!!

Good Job on the details of the Bounder! Will keep this in mind on my Bounder! Thanks!

apparently they cancelled the snow for the week though :^(

You should put some foot power in the tire to help preserve the tube and it also lubricate the inside of the tire from the tube .

Dan if you get a second set screw and drive it on top of the other it will prevent them from backing out

Graupel? No, I think we should go with snail stones… snow and hail.
Have you looked into doing a chain to belt drive conversion? Belts don't stretch and more durable.
I've had master link clips pop off, so I got a bag of new replacement links just to be on the safe side.
Take a look at the rohloff vs pinion gear box comparison for bikes. These use belt drives.
just wondering, is Frontier v6 tires from Amazon better in the snow compare with original tires comes with a chair?
Not Too Long ago Last week we had below average temps here In Minnesota.
Now This week The Temps Are In The 50's 60's & 70's. Weird Huh?
Great electric wheelchair
Is this an electric wheelchair or a petrol motorized chair answer me please
is it a good everyday chair
Maybe next project would be getting a lathe?
So myou can make those spacers yourself. Just a thought. 🙂
yeaaa been eyeballing lathes.. thats a commitment though - sinking bolts into the slab in the garage floor to mount it! but YEA - eventually hah!
Try a little soapy water to help slide the tire and tub back together

to true a motor cycle tire we would put a stick of chalk on a board by side wall turn tire chalk marks high spots
Keep us updated with waterproof connector.
Thanks

Can someone please tell me or send me a video on where the neutral switch is
Darn! Since ya had that chain all the way off it would have been super simple to clean it before putting it back together.
yea.. but then id have to get up off the floor and go do stuff LOL

found it! skip about 2 minutes into this video and i make the same adjustment - ruclips.net/video/Yv3lQFREpMY/видео.html
We got it here outside Seattle too! Beanbag chair filler!!
would love to find an adapter to go from a 4 lug on 4.5" pattern to a 4 lug 4" pattern so its easier to swap when I get to venture into the wild
this ones like 4 on 2.5" and 4 on 2.0" i think... or something like that.. its got 8 holes total
I wish v6 frontier have the choice of changing the speed
No talcum powder in between the inner and outer tire?
hmmmmmm guess thats what i was forgetting! lol NEXT TIME for sure!
Got to get me a bounder

30 cm of snow in Vancouver today.
I still need to get better tires on my v6 and c300
I take it that there was a lot of coffee involved in this repair.
you know it!!!
Totally Normal It was kind of a no brainer LOL!
Weather modification ha ha!
That bounder have just one motor
lol once dan tightens the nuts thing get tight and stretches
I'm looking to buy a bounder in 2023 anybody can give me some advice.
Interesting 🧐
🙂👍
Those chains don't sound happy. To tight can be just as bad as to lose.
the aftermarket sprockets im using dont quite fit the chains 100% correctly.. and yes the sound of them, is one of sorrow! lol

It's raining crack
You could Chock the tires...
