Matt, I am SO happy that you have put this series together. I’ve been “following” you since my first experience with DOC NYC in 2012… I loved your Behind the Lens series back then… this series is amazing and you are an amazing teacher. I hope that you get a ton more subscribers. Everyone has so much to gain from your years of experience!!! The how to pack to travel video was amazing and so was the shooting in extreme cold temperatures video. So awesome!!! I’m extremely grateful for your videos!!!! Thanks SO much!

Hi Matt! I found your series of articles on the C500 mark II by accident last night. I recently bought this camera in preparation for a new journey into documentary filmmaking. These articles were totally excellent and I learned so much about this new investment. I posted about these articles on the C500 m II Facebook group and someone pointed out how you have an amazing RUclips channel. So here I am, a shiny new subscriber. Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time and making the effort to share your expertise and passion. After 43 years in the marketing and advertising business, I have begun to wind down my commercial career and have taken the leap into what I hope will be a fulfilling new career as a doc filmmaker at the tender age of 68 years old. While I've been shooting and editing video for about 25 years, I am super-hungry about expanding my skill set into storytelling and cinematography. I will be not only a subscriber to your channel, but a close follower. Thanks again for all your efforts, Matt.

That's wonderful and welcome to the channel! I'm thrilled you found my blog posts about the C500MKII. Doing the in-depth posts like that partially urged me to create this channel for a different format that can cover a wider range of topics. I hope you're able to find a lot of useful information here and please let me know if there's anything you're hoping to learn and I'll see if I can make a video about it! Best of luck in your new endeavors!

Hi Matt, I saw your interview on Luc's channel and am looking forward to your stories. I'm a Doc Gaffer in the Chicago area (yes I'll light whatever, but Docs are my focus) and have had the pleasure of working Wolfgang, Thor, Claudia ... just wanted to say howdy and thanks for sharing to the community, both the young pups and us older dogs, love to hear folks talk about their Craft and always take away something, even if it's just inspiration. Be well!

Oh wonderful! Thanks so much for reaching out. I hope these conversations can help share and advance the reasons we all love working in this industry. Very cool to hear you’ve worked with some of my favorite people! I’ll be sure to hit you up if anything comes along in the Chicago area!

Hey Matt, looking forward to your channel. I'm a big fan of Cartel-Land, awesome doc. Loved the interviews, especially the eyeline to camera ones. How did you do those and still get so much emotion? I'd like to learn more about making sure that you get not just enough, but the right amount of coverage in a scene. I am working on my first full feature doc about the Human-Wildlife Conflict in Zambia 🦁

Thanks so much! Keep an eye out for an upcoming video where I’ll talk about your eyeline question 😉 In the future, I’ll also be breaking down scene coverage, so stay tuned!
