    You always give a neutral account unlike every body else on RUclips.

      I think they’ll wait until the verdict as they don’t want to prejudice a trial

    I think the wording was a slip up of hers, she quickly realised her fatal mistake and asked for a break, claiming she can't concentrate on giving evidence.
    That's definitely a thing to look into.

    Thank you Hannah for your expert guidance, I believe there's reasonable doubt, but sadly either way this has ruined her life....love your picture in the background can you tell me the title, many thanks

      It’s all very sad isn’t it.
      In terms of the picture, I got it years ago from John Lewis and it’s of Central Park- not sure if they still stock it though

    I may have said this before so I apologize if I'm repeating myself. IF I was on the jury, when they retire to elect a foreman and consider the verdict, my first move would be to say "ok, as our first act, let's have a vote, anyone think she's innocent/guilty of all charges?". It would help to focus things. Does the jury need to spend time weighing the case of each child if straight away if they have a concensus?

      @learnlawwithhannah  Год назад +2

      I think they might do that at the beginning but we will never know due to the secrecy of the jury room

    Would there be a concern in publicly naming the deceased babies as their names are already available in newspapers?

    • @learnlawwithhannah
      @learnlawwithhannah  Год назад +1

      Yes I’ve seen their names from previous reports from several years ago. Since then the judge has placed a ban on them being named. I presume it’s to protect the families as well as the defendant.

    If she is found guilty what kind of sentence is she looking at

    • @learnlawwithhannah
      @learnlawwithhannah  Год назад +3

      The sentence for murder is mandatory life and the judge sets a tariff of a number of years. If guilty on all counts they may impose a whole life order which means she would never be released. They did this for Wayne Couzens recently

    If it comes back as a hung jury, or a mixture of not guilty or hung jury (key part: no guilty verdicts), what chance do you think she has when applying for bail ahead of a retrial?

    • @learnlawwithhannah
      @learnlawwithhannah  Год назад

      Good question! If there are some guilty verdicts then she’s be remanded and I’m not sure they’d seek a retrial as the sentence for murder is life

    • @learnlawwithhannah
      @learnlawwithhannah  Год назад

      If they can’t decide on any of the counts then I have no idea- she’s been in prison for three years already but that may be for her own protection as well

  • @clubfillerssimp62
    @clubfillerssimp62 Год назад +7

    It will 100% be a hung trial. You'd need to be 100% certain to put a young woman in prison for life.

      It could be or no, if it is a hung trial I do not believe they should be given the option of a retrial.

    This case is really difficult. I had expected evidence like, LL's fingerprints on viles of poison, security footage of her skulking around...

    These children are already very sick by the time they get to the hospital.

    3:55 I think the other nurse on duty, child I's designated nurse, asked Lucy to "listen out FOR" the child. Just because Lucy thought a visual check would be in the child's best interests doesn't change the intent of the word, right?

    • @learnlawwithhannah
      @learnlawwithhannah  Год назад +3

      I think a lot is being made of one word being changed- people rephrase things - I certainly so when teaching and doing these videos!
