"You know what you need to do, mate. Clear the board. Start over." Just the heroes looking into the void. Specifically, Wonder Woman, Superman, and Batman, accepting their fate, got to me hard. They knew they lost. They knew they failed. They knew there was no fixing anything. Even Superman's speech, sounded forced. When he said "The Justice League doesn't quite," look at the others' faces. No hope in their eyes. Most looked like they were ready to give in and die. Barry looked liked he was ready to give in and die. I'm uncomfortable even watching the older films because as soon as I do, the deaths scenes play in my mind and it bums me out so bad. All and all, I LOVED this movie. It was Conner Kent. This was established in the Reign of the Supermen movies, which is part of this particular version of the DCAU (the last 15 monies were said to be a part of this version and this is the final movie in that set). Also, Damien was fleshed out in the previous movies as well. So, this movie was more for the people that watched those monies.
I went back and watched justice league vs. teen titans last night and Damian tells Nightwing that he’s nothing to him. It hit harder knowing that Damian used the Lazarus pit to save his “brother”
Rob you missed all Damien Wayne's backstory in the movies. He's one of the most fleshed out characters in this universe. Watch Son of Batman (2014), Batman vs. Robin (2015), Batman: Bad Blood (2016), Justice vs. Teen Titans (2016), Teen Titans: The Judas Contract (2017), and Batman: Hush (2019). And just for posterity throw in Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay (2018) and Justice League Dark (2017), and Constantine: City of Demons (2018) he definitely wouldn't bail.
LiberationMusik I’m glad you highlighted the backstory on Damien. Yeah I don’t think that Rob knows or understands that the previous animated films are connected. Sounds like he kinda jumped in head first into this one lol. Also that Justice League Dark is more of a spin-off from the main core of the league that Dark just focuses more on magic based heroes and villains and not that it simply means dark as in violent or gory.
The character Damian wayne is a lazy amalgamation of Bruce Wayne JR and Jason Todd. The writers should feel bad that they came up with him and you should feel bad that you fell for it.
I got Escanor vibes and immediately became a Trigon fan, I love that they used a character most writers just neglect and him being as powerful as Darkseid made sense.
Hey Rob don’t forget this movie is part of an animated universe. So we got to see the stuff with Damien and his relationship with Raven grow over the movies. The Super boy that we see is Connor Kent, and that connects the death of Superman and the Reigon of the Supermen. This movie is the end of the New 52 animation and this world’s continuity, hopefully they do into Rebirth and do the Watchmen stuff. That would be awesome.
I seriously hope we get to see Dark Nights Metal, and eventually, Justice/Doom War. I'd love to see the Dark Nights on screen, especially The Batman Who Laughs, Batman The Devastator, and Batman The Red Death.
Came here to say all this, my dude, Rob go back and watch all the prior movies. You basically skipped all the other movies and watched Avengers End Game. I'm hoping the next rebooted DC movies introduce The Batman Who Laughs...
We dont see a full indication of their relationship in any other movies except in JL vs. TT when they were at the carnival and TTJC when she gives damien a dog
I'd argue Raven/Damian's relationship also matters more if you've seen all the other movies in this universe up until now. I've been watching these movies since Flashpoint Paradox, so this movie was a HUGE kick in the pants for me, and I loved it. DC/WB took risks with this, and I think it paid off in dividends! I'm hoping they build another shared animated universe off of this, perhaps based on Rebirth. There are some awesome stories they can still adapt to animation, and I think they should keep cashing in on the animation department as they are kicking Marvel's ass there. I'm cool with Marvel ruling live action and DC ruling animation.

Uuuh Rob I should probably tell you this, but almost every animated movie after the flashpoint movie is connected to this Justice league doom, reign of the Supermen, a teen Titans animated movie, the animated Batman movies Basically if it has the same same art style as this movie it's in the same continuity So yeah just thought you should know cause it seems like you don't apparently which sucks

To be fair, a lot of the recent movies were somewhat "average" as a generous way to put them. Nowhere near as bad as "Braniac attacks" but still definitely on the weaker side.
@@jonredman6650 its still average in comparison. The only two movies I genuinely thought were genuinly great were Suicide Squad Hell to Pay and Justice League Dark. Most of the others felt like Damian fanservice and while they varied in quality, the conflicts felt like they'd best work as episode of a random cartoon series. Not to mention the adaptation of classic stories like Death/Reign of Superman looked lackluster at best But my biggest problem was the made-for-tv-budget animation, kept many of the things from being as visual as they could've been. I will say this, as a cinematic universe, this is as almost as good as MCU was.
@DanielEndless No you seem to have missed my point. It's not "oh this is a story with an ending" it's "Barry roll the dice until you fix it or atleast give us something good"
Those deaths of our beloved heroes just hit hard Those chopped off head, torn apart bodies, 5-6 paradooms eating one person..damn man, that was horrifying Also I feel very sad, that Damian and Raven didn't get enough time to be with each other after conveying thier mutual feelings 😞😞
He clearly hasn't watched the other DC animated movies recently. Damien Wayne's conception was explained in another movie, John Constantine was the primary character in both Dark and Dark: Apokolips; so of course he'd be a stand out character, and Constantine bailing was pretty clearly a Zatana spell as he's established as a cautious, but un-flinching badass. I skipped a lot of chunks of this video because it was like someone review Avengers without looking at the other MCU movies before it. Glad he enjoyed it.
It doesn't matter tho it all gets undone in the end. You don't need to watch the others because at the end of this they never even happened. Watching those and then this is like the biggest middle finger ending
Couple of critics, we learn Damion’s story from the Batman films ‘Son of Batman’, ‘Batman vs Robin’, and ‘Batman: Bad Blood’, so if you watched those then you didn’t need the comics to be fully impacted by his growth from his origin. Also it’s Connor Kent, they called him such at the end of ‘Reign of the Supermen’, and his backstory of being a Lex and Superman clone and his design are that of Connor Kent not John.
"So you are one of the so-called new gods? I am unimpressed." "Go...unless you want to fight me for the right to destroy him." "And now, new god, let's see who shall rule and who shall serve." Those lines give me chills every time I hear them. That fight between Darkseid and Trigon was an unexpected treat!
The scenario in this movie reminds me so much of EARTH-2 New 52. The whole universe was destroyed by Darkseid/Apokolips, that the population had to move to a new planet; in the midst of the destruction, the whole trinity was killed, and the sidekicks had to pick up the mantle, boy was it rough for those heroes...
your review of this movie is based on if this is a standalone movie, if you watched the other movies you know who Damian is, you know who Connor is. This is like endgame
No it's a like Crisis that have persisted in DC comics years before Endgame. Stop referencing that damn movie. Endgame and Infinity war if anything , were like Flashpoint. Alot of people dying, new status quo established.
Fellow fans question do u guys think what Constantine did was a good thing? Or bad thing? Was it worth the sacrifice? Part of me got mad when his friend was furious about the outcome...
@@grumpypancho8219 I think it was worth the sacrifice, his friend wanted him to save his daughter. Like John said magic comes at a price and the price to defeat an ancient demon that they dealt with before needed that ancient magic.
Rob I don't know if you're aware, but this movie is apart of the dc animated universe. Amanda Waller dying of cancer was alluded in Suicide Squad: Hell To Pay. Superboy I believe is Conner Kent or at least modeled after him because he's a clone of superman made by Lex Luthor in Reign of Supermen. Damain Wayne and Batman have their own animated movie in Son of Batman, and we've seen Raven and Damian together in the Teen Titans movies. Essentially, yeah there's been a lot of development with these characters in their own respective movies. Even John Constantine in the first Justice League Dark movie which was the reference for the title of this movie. You should definitely check them all out, they're solid films that add substantial depth to this whole dc animated universe. I would love to see your reviews of them.

Dude, long time fan and subscriber here, and I must say that you are dead on with this review. You perfectly described how this movie went without getting caught up in the scenes that you have to see to believe.
"I hope this doesn't become a trend... Wiping a timeline to start all over again." I think that's what's everyone is doing. Once you end a story you gotta reboot it for money and creativity reasons. DC did it, Marvel did it. Scooby Doo does it, to some extent Dragon Ball does this too. Change Timelines this, Alternate Universe that. I'm kinda not surprised anymore. Kind feels like lazy writing after you write yourself into a corner.
Using multiverse theory is the exact opposite of painting yourself into a corner. You have a multiverse worth of story options. That said, I do see a trend in Sci Fi stories where essentially they fck up their own reality so bad that had to move to a new reality. JLD: AW, Avengers Endgame, Rick & Morty, it’s happening a lot more, but I think that’s a product of reality being so shitty, so of course the escapist themes would bleed into the narrative.
Oh, the humanity... It's so obvious that this dude did not see the whole continuity of films (the DCAMU) leading up to this film. Shame. DCAMU films in order: 1. Wonder Woman: Bloodlines 16. Justice League: Dark Apokolips War
dante miles I agree, although I feel like this is kind of a meta wink or nod to the audience where DC is saying, “This universe is over, but we’ll be back with more movies and another movie universe soon.” That’s how I view that whole ending scene with Constantine (DC) talking to Barry (the audience)
Rob, you should watch all the DCAU movies, they are all AMAZING! You need to see all the previous ones to really appreciate this one, and it fixes your confusion with Damian, Raven and Superboy.
Yknow, there’s a theory When the Flashpoint was happening, and when everyone was looking at the light, it’s kinda obvious that almost everyone had in their mind that a Flashpoint was happening, that the board was being wiped clean. So, my theory is that, because of this, their subconsciouses were getting ready to face this. So what could probably happen is that at least a bit of their lives were protected by their subconsciouses when the Flashpoint occurred, because their subcounsiouses knew it was happening. SO, maybe in the next universe, we might see the characters having minor flashbacks or dreams of their past lives at certain points of the next line of movies. Because of this, it is possible that the Damian and Raven when they meet again in the next universe, they would instantly feel a bond form with each other, due to fragments of memories of their past lives
Idk who thought sending Martian Manhunter to a planet on fire was a good idea. We literally didn't even see him get attacked, he just stepped onto the planet and went down.

Honestly i haven't read the comics about damien/batman and those scenes really impacted me alot. honestly i teared up even without knowing the full back story there. they gave me enough to know that they had a troubled/rough relationship leading up to damiens sacrifice for batman and the things said before damien died, it was very touching even without the full picture. that said maybe it was more just me and my relationship with my father and the fact that i now have 3 sons of my own and am trying to actually be there for them and do right by them. idk but it was very emotional for me.
If you want a good-ish characterization of Damien that helps fill out gaps with his relationship with Batman, I recommend the Injustic 2 Comic with him going out on a mission. Just the heroes looking into the void.

Damien Wayne's conception was explained in another movie, John Constantine was the primary character in both Dark and Dark: Apokolips; so of course he'd be a stand out character, and Constantine bailing was pretty clearly a Zatana spell as he's established as a cautious, but un-flinching badass.
I am unimpressed."

Dude, long time fan and subscriber here, and I must say that you are dead on with this review. You perfectly described how this movie went without getting caught up in the scenes that you have to see to believe.
"I hope this doesn't become a trend... Wiping a timeline to start all over again."
I think that's what's everyone is doing.
I mean this timeline had an end..
I think op would prefer if everyone went the fast and future route
I mean, if the fans love it.
Oh, the humanity... It's so obvious that this dude did not see the whole continuity of films (the DCAMU) leading up to this film. Shame.
DCAMU films in order:
1. Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox
2. Justice League: War
3. Son of Batman
4. Justice League: Throne of Atlantis
5. Batman vs. Robin
6. Batman: Bad Blood
7. Justice League vs. Teen Titans
8. Justice League: Dark
9. Teen Titans: The Judas Contract
10. Constantine: City of Demons
11. Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay
12. The Death of Superman
13. The Reign of the Supermen
14. Batman: Hush
15. Wonder Woman: Bloodlines
16. Justice League: Dark Apokolips War
Exactly, he doesn't even know there already is DCAMU.
The ending makes none of these movies matter tho? Personally I hate the whole "let's just go back in time and fix everything" cliché ending
@@dantemiles689 i think they're heading towards DC Rebirth
Honestly if they do that ( which they'll most likely do)
It will be MINDBLOWING!!!
@@_.waryaa4078 hopefully but you have to admit this "go back in time and fix everything" ending is over used and cliché in all comics marvel and DC.
dante miles I agree, although I feel like this is kind of a meta wink or nod to the audience where DC is saying, “This universe is over, but we’ll be back with more movies and another movie universe soon.” That’s how I view that whole ending scene with Constantine (DC) talking to Barry (the audience)
Rob, you should watch all the DCAU movies, they are all AMAZING!
You need to see all the previous ones to really appreciate this one, and it fixes your confusion with Damian, Raven and Superboy.
I was about to leave a comment saying the same thing. Gotta watch it all from flashpoint to this last one
I think the saddest part of the movie was at the end when starfire was like holding nightwing and how she made him like not crazy
Does Rob even know that Damian has be featured prominently in many of the previous films leading up to this?
That movie was great bought it digitally the day it dropped
Me too, bought it first day, it was great.
The superboy is Conner Kent if you watch reign of the supermen you see he’s the clone of Superman and lex
Yknow, there’s a theory
When the Flashpoint was happening, and when everyone was looking at the light, it’s kinda obvious that almost everyone had in their mind that a Flashpoint was happening, that the board was being wiped clean. Because of this, it is possible that the Damian and Raven when they meet again in the next universe, they would instantly feel a bond form with each other, due to fragments of memories of their past lives
from that pov u could be right
sadly this will be the last movie of this continuity, so we won't really know what happens next
@@uns33nbois81 this is the last movie of this universe but the new set of movies will be in the timeline/universe that the flash creates
Mr J wait so, ur saying that they’re gonna make a whole new timeline? Like rebirth?
@@monisaurr yup
Idk who thought sending Martian Manhunter to a planet on fire was a good idea. We literally didn't even see him get attacked, he just stepped onto the planet and went down.
Mate, the only fact that you have not watched the whole series, discredits your review. BECAUSE you could not appreciate this conclusion as it was meant to be !
Beyond Omega Level: Nabu(DC)
Beyond Omega Level: Abeloth(Star Wars)
Beyond Omega Level: Enerjak(Archie Sonic)
Beyond Omega Level: Sonic the Hedgehog(Archie Sonic)
Actually Rob, it is indeed a whole cohesive animated universe of 15 movies in this order:

TetrixJ dark knight returns part 1&2 🔥🔥AF
SKRiLLUCHIANO4 JEFE DC animation in general fire af
TetrixJ 💯% FACTS !!!!!! No argument..
Sadly, no Green Lantern movies...
陳潔明 Green Lantern: First flight and Green Lantern; Emerald Knights!
DC beats Marvel in animated movies all day but Marvel has the live action game on lockdown
I agree with this wholeheartedly.
After the first avenger movie everu marvel movie was the same plot different villain Until endgame
@@ramerefauntleroy4881 yea you can make that argument but they were still good and some great movies...they all had to be cohesive an similar in certain ways so everything can be tied back together for Infinity War and Endgame.....at least thats just how I see it 🤷🏾♂️

@@markol1313 protagonist fights bad guy with exact same powers but evil
When Star Fire's intestines where out, my eyes were melting
This felt like it was literally their last stand against all evil. It felt like everything was on the line and the threat was so legit. 10/10 for me boys.
Am I the only person who didn’t like darkseids voice in this,it was as booming or all emcompassing as in the original tv show
He sounds like Aqualad from the Young Justice cartoons, it threw me off when he spoke too.
Penn exactly Batman sounded more evil than him
Yea I liked his voice way better in the justice league : War movie.. much more sinister
I was telling my wife how much It suit him
Well he is voiced by a legend- Tony Todd- but I have to agree... I have always been a Michael Ironside fan, far and away the best Darkseid and I would even cast him to voice Darkseid in a live action film if ever given the chance.
Anyone notice the size difference between Darkseid in this movie compared to Justice League War
yes
You know he can change his size right?
Would be amazing to get Dark Nights: Metal as an animated movie series
The series where a monkey detective saved the day? No thank ylu
Yes please, I would love an animated version of Metal and Death Metal.
As a Brit, Constantine is a great character. Most British superheroes are way over the top and just don’t work. For example the Spider-Man UK, he has a giant Union Jack on his suit and just doesn’t work. Constantine is great
Got to love Constantine in this film. Loved when he worked with the House of Mystery in the other Justice League Dark movie.
Constantine was the goat. But I laughed my ass of when He ran away 😂😂😂
Yo I hated Constantine for that until Zatanna explained it.
I wished DC would bring Milestone characters into their animation films like Young Justice.
Same, but DC dosen't want to use money for them
This made me get started on watching the DC animated movies I missed
You should. They are AMAZING!, DC is hitting their animated movies out of the park. And this is coming from a Marvel diehard.
Hey Rob this is actually in end in a long line of DC animated films starting from Flashpoint then Justice League War and more others that introduced all the characters that you see in this film so even if you didn’t read the comics all the films that lead up to this makes everything work. Love your work keep doing what you do!
Yeah, but did you know that King Shark IS A SHARK?!
"It was a pleasure working with you"
Honestly i haven't read the comics about damien/batman and those scenes really impacted me alot. honestly i teared up even without knowing the full back story there. they gave me enough to know that they had a troubled/rough relationship leading up to damiens sacrifice for batman and the things said before damien died, it was very touching even without the full picture. that said maybe it was more just me and my relationship with my father and the fact that i now have 3 sons of my own and am trying to actually be there for them and do right by them. idk but it was very emotional for me.
If you want a good-ish characterization of Damien that helps fill out gaps with his relationship with Batman, I recommend the Injustic 2 Comic with him going out on a mission. Really touching and worth the read.
Outside of that I can't help much more since most of my knowledge of Damien came from the Injustice comic series which paints him as the villain, granted it does give a good perspective on his identity as a Robin
@@janrosa7243 Batman and Robin is the comic about Bruce and Damian's relationship and it's nothing but feels all the way as you watch then get to know and learn to love and trust each other. It's a Classic
It was for me too. Parenting isn't easy even for Batman. I could totally relate to Bruce and Damian's gradually developing relationship. Both are very closed off and bad at communication so it was such a joy when they finally start to learn to trust, love and look beyond words to the heart.
