I think for some workflows the "old" surrogate emboss will still be a better choice. With the new emboss some funky stuff is happening then the profile is large compared to the target face :) "generative art"? ;)
There does appear to be distortion in some cases. Looks like I don't have to delete my videos.....
Sweet, this is great. Thanks for calling it out.
Amazing! Finally. Look forward to seeing more of your applications.
GREAT! Finally!
This is great work from fusion360 team, good to see this update
OH YES!
This is going to help a lot.
Great video
Wooooooooooooooh!!!!!!
I tried also with T-Spline objects and got weird behaviour. Depending on the size of the Form object (a deformed quadball) Emboss was working or not. In case you want to explore this also.
In either cases text was not covering the full perimeter
finally
i'm so damn happy to see this, it's like close to geametrical pattern right ?
This is very intriguing. It "may work" for my challenge (to myself) of trying to capture a sketch/model to "print-in-place" a couple polygon objects with pins in between (3 sided poly, 4 pins, 5 sided poly). I recently emailed you regarding the Roll Technology "system". I was just curious to figure out a way to create spur/chevron "gears" onto poly shapes.
Lol - I will have to completely rethink my workflow. For so long I have done complex workarounds to accomplish the same thing.
HOLY
Hi and thanks, I like your videos and the way you explain all the alternative ways to get to the point your are demonstrating. I have a question does this new emboss on complex faces work with the Educational license?
Thanks for the compliment. It should work on all licenses. I am not aware of any exclusions.
Finallyyyyyyyyy..... I don't have to create multiple surfaces again
This fails for me on Form objects
- my bad. I had allowed my emboss sketch to exceed the boundry of the target face.
I decided to test the limits for this new feature and made a half sphere adding a text faicing the flat face and extending out the edge. I wondered if the emboss will apply the text on both flat and curved surfaces. It really worked 😊. The only trick is to select the surfaces first then select the text.
Does it make a difference if you select the text first?
@@Fusion360School at my first atempt when I selected the text first the program struggled and freezed. I had to restart it. I don't know if this happens all the time however I didn't try it again.! 😊
Why can't I select any faces?!? I have my sketch profile selected but when I try to select faces on my object I can't select anything!
I had a question relating to this new update, which would determine the course of action I'll go through later on.
I have a little project I'm doing for myself involving this same embossing technique, but instead using a map of the world to create the embossing effect of the continents on an ellipsoid to generate a similar look, including smaller islands as well.
My question relates to if you can emboss on a spherical surface a type of sketch that intersects when folded into a cylinder and a sphere. If you're familiar with map projections, you'll know my dilemma. It has been months and I still cannot find a solution.
Is there a way that, in Fusion 360, you can emboss everywhere on the sphere using one sketch whose points on the left and right of the sketch intersect with each other to form shapes that go across the sketch?
If you don't understand, reply for more context
I don't have fusion 360 yet
great channel, thank you!..btw can you share your pc spec, i'm using i7 12700 + rtx 3060 but it is so slow
Let’s trying i9 12900k.
Unfortunately it sometime just dont work… I tried it with a text on a curved surface… some letters failed others not. Did not get it to work for the whole word. The letters where a svg but the vectors look perfect… no clue…
if I rotate the text just 0,01 degree it works... but it is then rotated
Bet the Free version won't be able to utilise this feature.........
I'm sure it will. It does now.
