    Your son looks just like you! Thanks
    For teaching asl. Hope I can find someone to practice with! It’s hard learning alone.

    Hi Meredith! I found your channel recently and it has definitely fueled my passion for learning sign - thank you so much for all your hard work!
    A video I'd love to see is you clarifying similar looking signs. Like movie vs cheese or nice vs clean or teach vs boy or devil vs listen. I'd really appreciate it!

    As you suggested, I'm setting goals so as to not get overwhelmed. I'm working on my first 100 signs by learning the First 25 Signs, the Easiest 25 Signs, the 25 Family Signs, and the 25 School Signs. I am practicing my fingerspelling. And once I am comfortable with the first 100 signs or so that I'm learning, I'll move on to the next 100 signs and use more numbers. Thanks for this channel!

    Hi, Meredith. Thanks for another helpful video.
    Questions... do all 'daughter/son' signs use the baby sign? What if they are adults now?
    What about older/younger brother/sister?
    And how do we add 'in-law' to a family sign?

    • @LearnHowtoSign
      @LearnHowtoSign  Год назад +2

      Yes, it doesn't matter if your son or daughter is an adult they are still your "baby". No change in the sign.
      Older and younger can be sign doing a sign similar to short and tall but also there are other signs. YOUNG/ER - 2 bent B hands with finger tips touched on chest moving up. OLDER - the sign OLD then moves up with thumb.
      IN-LAW is signed LAW with whomever you are signing about ex MOTHER LAW.

    How do u sign for in laws as mother-in-law, etc or greats as great niece, etc? Thank u so much! I've learned so much that I can carry on a decent conversation with a deaf person.

    • @LearnHowtoSign
      @LearnHowtoSign  Год назад +1

      IN-LAW is signed MOTHER and the sign LAW
      GREAT is typically fingerspelled.

    I have a question. My older brother was deaf, so I've known alot of signs since birth lol. I lost my brother 15 years ago, and I miss signing so I thought I'd try to learn more than what I already know. But I have noticed some of the signs are a bit different. For example, for grandmother, we would place our thumb to chin, but add the opposite hand on top of the first. So I'm kind of confused lol. I thought maybe signing had changed a bit since I practiced. 🤔 My brother was born in 1964.

    Could you make a video on ASL covers (of songs). A deaf person once told me to think beyond the lyrics and think about the meaning of the song when signing, but I find that very hard. Of the few songs I've covered, only one I've been able to really think through the meaning of one (American Idiot by Greenday). Could you make a video with more tips and tricks?

    Hello Meredith, YOUR GLASSES NICE. How can I tell the difference between STEP as you sign it here and TURN-TAKE like NEXT? Both STEP and TURN-TAKE are the moving L hand, so I need help deciphering them. What suggestions do you offer to improve receptive skills to help tell apart signs that look similar to each other? I love, love, love the out takes! Are those called out takes?

    • @LearnHowtoSign
      @LearnHowtoSign  Год назад +1

      TURN-TAKE makes a bigger movement passing to the person and back but STEP is a twist in.
      And yes, they are out takes or bloopers. We have fun together!

    I think Kate’s sign could actually mean something.. perhaps.. Extreme heartburn such as just before the rib-rupturing birth of a parasitic alien baby: Your C hands are wrestling with your dismembered esophagus: Your grimace conveys the weight of your mortal agony: Extreme heartburn.. 😬 maybe? 😬
