Madlittlepixel I’m so happy you made this video. It’s funny actually. I cannot believe they don’t have a black version of these already available. For the $24.99 and free shipping I grabbed a pair of the 2.4 GHz M30’s from Amazon. I already have a pair of M30 Bluetooth controllers however I wasn’t feeling the grey or brick colors available wi5 the Bluetooth receivers you’ve demonstrated here. I wasn’t aware they did not work with the Genesis mini until just now so I a, actually glad I didn’t invest in a pair of the BT adapters. Keep up the great work man!
Can you please do a review on the Game Box 128g usb stick for the ps classic. It has over 7000 games for around roughly $20
I'm doing this process in a laptop and don't work that I need to do it in pc desktop computer
This is EXACTLY what I was wondering. Still going to get the bluetooth Genesis and Saturn controllers. Love having variety.
I may be late to the party, but the 8bitdo NES Classic Bluetooth dongle also works on the Genesis mini. Just connect it with a micro USB cable to any controller port and it works flawlessly.
Really bro???? Connect the adapter vía micro usb to usb A to the console?

8bitdo saves the day once again!
Need to order one later on, I haven't play much with my MegaDrive Mini yet because 1) I don't want wear down the MD controllers that much and 2) I have their SNES controllers already.
Man this is awesome. I just bought the 8 bit Arcade stick on a Black friday sale and was thinking of getting a 6 button gamepad for my gen mini now I don't have too. (I might get the saturn style one though eventually cause well the saturn controller is just great). thx!
This device is great. I use my wii U pro controller, xbox one controller and ds4 on my pc, retropie and switch with this.
Also awesome channel brother. I've learned alot from you my friend, thank you for these videos sir.
Omg I have been waiting to buy the Genesis classic until I could get a Bluetooth adapter and now I don’t need to buy different ones for another system. The gray looks nice for Sega
I'm all updated but I still can't seem to connect my m30 bluetooth to my mini
I have upgraded the firmware of the grey one, Sega genesis didnt detect it... upgrade the consolore with hakchi2-ce-3.9.2, with the BlueZ, and still didnt detect it as a bluetooth adaptor... i have purchased a regular bluetooth adapter and today I will check if that reciever is recognized.
Hell ya I've waiting for this to happen! Even tho I didn't buy the genesis mini yet (waiting for the hack, or a price reduce in thanksgivng/christmas, either or both of them to happen). 8bitdo really being thoughtful for their customers. That's what I really like about their company. Other company care less about you and just urge you to buy another of the dongle. 8bitdo helps you to get what you already have with them to play more and more system day by day! This shezzz amazing!!!
By the way I think the red brick and the grey brick is the same hardware. Before the grey one is out with psc, ppl just use the red one and flash with the grey (psc) fw and confirmed it work. I haven't tried tho so don't quote me on that. But given how versatile the firmware flashing program is (allow you upgrade and downgrade), I don't imagine you flashing the wrong one will brick the thing. Probably just flash back the right one will do.
Thanks for posting this video bro. I see you flexing that genesis stack on us 💪😎👍
Thanks for letting me know man!
Good stuff man. Thanks for the heads up. I got the American and Japanese versions just like you
Good video. But now can you do this same type of video (for the sega mini) for people who are running retroarch on their sega mini? Specifically how to map the controller...the specific controller you used in the video. Please show us how to map the controller for a sega mini running retroarch. Thanks!
I assume the black 8bitdo adaptor also works? Does it also work with the Mega Drive II?
How does one sync the M30 Bluetooth with the wireless adapter on the Sega Genesis mini? I managed to get it synced but the buttons don't do anything.
Same problem, let me know if find out anything.
I figured it out -- sync w/ x+start, after connected d_pad_left + d_pad_up+select (center of lower 3) for 5 sec -- your controller will shut off, turn it back and it works properly now. Its something thatd changing in the USB, tried it w/ 2 separate devices (pads and receivers).
@@kristophermann6528 searched the whole internet- i'm using the redbrick usb and this worked with the sync w/ x+start- god bless you man!! why isn't this somewhere besides a random yt comment!?
@@kristophermann6528 omg, thank you! I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out this! Thank you 🙏
My controller didn’t turn off when I pressed those buttons so was a bit confused as to what I was doing wrong, but it changed the button layout anyways.
Here, have the biggest hi-5 I’ve given in a loooong time 🤚💥✋
Where did you get those add ons at 5:03 ?
Which button do you use I can’t get the m30 and sn30+ plus to work on the mini.
Here is hoping the Magic NS gets a similar update
Will the 8BIT DO Arcade Stick work on the Genesis Mini?
i need help ! i got M30 Bluetooth old version , i have normal bluetooth USB adapter which work fine with DS4 wireless recognized as 360 controller (not 8BitDo one) but my gamepad recognized as 8BitDo M30 Gamepad wireless and its on DINPUT mode i'm on Windows 7 x64 ... i only get it as 360 Controller (XINPUT) via USB-C . Do i need that 8BitDo bluetooth Dongle to work properly ?
Could you guy maybe do a shot video, from start to finish, how to sync a "DUALSHOCK4" controller with a "PSClassic 8bitdo Receiver" using the Gemesis Mini? It really isn't working.
Thanks for this!
What about the black 1 and can u hook up a sega genesis bluetooth to the same 1? So what do I do, do i buy 1 usb driver and buy any controller 8bitdo has evn if it's the Sega Saturn 6 button and i can play any controller on that 1 driver on any mini classic
Right on! This is good news. Thanks for informing us.
Hey I just bought the new Sega Genesis Mini I`m not sure if that is your clip @ 5:09 but I see Revenge Of Shinobi just wanted to know did it come with the console I only have Shinobi III
toodamax12 He is using the Japanese mini, US and EU models came with Shinobi 3 instead
@@King_Herb Thanks! it figures the one i like wouldn`t be on the list
Is there enough space for 2 usb bluetooth dongles to be plugged in at the same time?
Maybe work on the astro? I keep my hope....
My 8bit do m30 sega genesis its syncs ligjt goes solid and nothing doesnt work
Will this 8bitdo usb Bluetooth dongle work with the retrobit sega genesis Bluetooth controller?
Do any Mayflash adapters work with an SN30 blutooth controller on the Sega Genesis Mini?
The update doesn't work with my PS4 controller 😭😭😭 Why ?
TheDavidao same here bro I’m tight
I had the same problem but I figured out the The readme is wrong on the file. First pair the PS4 controller to the receiver like before, then press and hold dpad left+ dpad up along with the PS home button.
Using the M30 genesis bluetooth controller the ABXY buttons are correct, C and R do not work and are mapped to L and Z. Tested with street fighter 2, streets of rage and golden axe.
Same problem. Let me know if you find a work around. 😁
Same issue. I wonder how to fix this....
had to turn on the controller with start+x, from a previous comment:

Thanks for the info, now I don't have to buy the 2.4ghz genesis controller to use on the Genesis classic since I've already got the M30 Bluetooth one.
If I do update my ps classic receiver it will work for both, PS classic and MD mini or then it will be working only on the MD mini? Thanks in advance! :)
it will support both, as well as pc, xbox, mac and ps4
Do NSO controllers work?
Does a Magic-S Rev 1.1 work w an 8BitDo controller on this system? Thanks.
Tried everything and both the brown and Grey receiver dont work for me. I cant get any of my bluetooth controllers to work on the genesis mini.
Ive tried a few more controllers and it seems some may need for you to press some buttons when synced, in the read me it says enter hotkey: dpad left + dpad right + select. But some controllers its start, some will be the home button instead of select.
@@Madlittlepixel cheers dude. I'll look into it further. Appreciate you and the work you do mate. Cheers from New Zealand.
After sync hold down DPAD_LEFT+DPAD_UP+SELECT (on the Grey Receiver) for about 3 seconds. BOOOM! Fkn ace. All working now.
@@FredGetkate awesome!!!
@@Madlittlepixel I'm trying to get things working on the 8Bitdo DIY controllers along with the grey receiver. No luck so far, even with the hotkey combination.
Hey man not sure why mine isn't working I followed all the steps and put my gray device in update mode but my laptop says the zip file stopped working and it wont let me go any further???
Can I use my Arcade stick with the Sega Genesis mini? Its usb
I'm trying to do this process in a laptop and don't work that I need to do it in a pc desk computer
Can it take 2 receivers at the same time? Cuz it seems there's not enuff clearance for a second receiver.
Two fit fine.
i got my retro bit genesis controller to work but the buttons are way wrong, i dont know how to fix that.
Got the SN30 PRO working fine. Any tips for the M30 Bluetooth? Not having any luck.
I have the brown usb bluetooth and the sn 30 controller and I try to update the usb bluetooth receiver in a laptop and don't work that I to do this in desktop computer can you help me out
Awesome! It's always good to have more options.
Can someone please tell me how can use my 8bitdo snes controller for genesis mini even thou I updated the firmware on both usb receivers
@Fran wow finally someone answered lol but no i didn’t figured it out
@Fran ok 👍🏿
Please tell me what 2 do 2 b able to use a ps4 controller on my Sega Genesis mini ok thanks .
Any news on hacking the megadrive mini yet?
will it work with a wired controller
What's up dude, idk if you had anyone comment about it not working with the Sega classic despite the update being installed have you? Cuz I cant get it to work with any 8bitdo controller. I was hoping If you can provide some help? Love the channel I'm from the IE too in glad to see you doing well with your following.
Thanks for the info! Now I'm deciding whether to get the 8Bitdo M30 2.4G or the Retro-Bit 8-Button 2.4G for the Sega Mega Drive Mini?
Both?
I have wired retrobit and wireless m30 and as the genesis was my first console as a kid I would recommend retrobit
Anyone know would this work with the mayflash magic-ns adapter?
The anyone knows what bluetooth receiver I need for my sn 30 8 bitdo controller help I can't use it in the mini sega genesis
Hay MLP is there any news on whether we are any closer to being able to hack and add games to our megadrive / Genesis minis yets.
Dodgy Dpad search Project Lunar
Does that work on the Switch too? Great video!!
Yep, been using on my switch without the firmware upgrade..
What I find the biggest pain in the ass is that the 8bitdo doesn't automatically map the buttons like a snes layout
Can I put two receiver into the Genesis mini?
Yep
What works on the ps classic? I need a dual analog controller for it.
If you have a PS4 you can use the dual shock 4 with this adapter
@@iand2907 i watched a video of using a daulshock 3 with the charging wire. I tried it and the controller rumbles the whole time. Might get this but really dont want to us ps4 controller cause of there price.
@@RippRoast83 if you don't have a ps4 you can buy ds 4 controllers on eBay for $25-$30. I know for a fact that they work and work great. Have you tried a ds 3 with the 8bitdo dongle?
Great news!
Just tried didn’t work for me
@@michaelcuscuna7336 EDIT: Added support for SEGA Genesis Mini & Mega Drive Mini.(Enter hotkey: DPAD_LEFT+DPAD_UP+STAR)
Note: Must Hold - DPAD_LEFT+DPAD_UP+STAR
@NE0GE081 For me, I had to press and hold B+START then I pressed the pairing button on the receiver itself and then I press and hold DPAD_LEFT+DPAD_UP+SELECT. I used the light gray 8bitdo USB retro receiver with the Sega Genesis M30 Bluetooth controller.
@@ValentinesEve1996 Its still not working when I try the above combination. I try pressing and holding B+start, then pressed the pairing button on the receiver, then pressed and held dpad_left+dpad_up+select. Again, I used the light gray retro receiver. My firmware has been updated, too.
Not sure if this helps, but whenever I tried switching to a different 8bitdo DIY controller, and pressed the combination of Dpad_Up,Dpad_left and select (this combination being pressed after pressing start+B on controller, then pressing pair on the receiver) , the controller's LED blinks red, then both the controller and receiver's LED goes solid blue, but remains unresponsive.
Has anyone tried this with the Retro-Bit bluetooth controller (the one officially licensed by Sega)?
Does it work with a ps4 controler?
Not working for me bro. I downloaded from the link, the proper update, installed on my pc, said "update successful". My ps4 controller syncs up to the adapter while it's in the USB of the Sega mini, nothing on screen moves.
If the light goes solid try turning the system off and controller. Then turn it back on and power the controller again. I had this issue with the 2.4ghz adapter where sometimes if you sync when the system is on it wont recognize the controller until a power cycle.
Darrell Ward not sure about the PS4 but on the M30 I had to press DPAD Left+DPAD Up+Start. It actually read Select instead of Start. Could be either your Share, Options or PS Button with that same DPAD combo.
Awesome, will try to get it up running when I get home. Thanks guys..
So the official hotkey instruction is Left/Up Select, however one user comment says it's Left/Up Start, and then another says it should be Left/Up Star. Does anyone know what it is for the M30 blutooth at all please? Its driving me insane and so far none of the above 3 work for me 😂😂
how you got more games like snow bros and others. a hack or what
Nice 😉
Finally!!
Tried using the brown one... doesnt work...
Has to be updated.
@@Madlittlepixel Turns out there are hot keys to enter for it to sync on the mini unlike my pc which was plug n play. It works!!! You can find this out by looking at update log for the adapter. 👍
@@emorse912 ah ok~ glad you got it figured out
@@emorse912 Hey bud. What did you need to do to get it to connect to your controller? I'm not having much luck.
@@emorse912 Quesiton withdrawn. I found the info you were talking about. Thanks so much for the help!
Bruh i need that alpine green dualshock 4 in the thumbnail. They were only sold for like 3 months before going out of stock and shooting up in price everywhere else 😩
Really? LOL I had it new in the box for a while now... only opened it to put it in the thumbnail! LOL I have the 500m controller and the clear white one and neither looked ok in the thumbnail so I opened my backup controller!
@@Madlittlepixel 😂 thats hilarous lol. Yeah i think they just werent selling as well as the other colors when they did a whole new wave of them. Pretty sure they just discontinued them.
@@ians_parks Thats crazy, I got mine for like $40 on sale a while ago... was like screw it I like the color and I will just get it as a backup controller. Never can have too many controllers!
The preferred controller for me would be the 8bitdo m30/m30 2.4g. I'm gonna pick up a m30 2.4g today.
Tried the gray wireless adapter with Nintendo Switch pro controller on the genesis classic and it connects but doesn’t work at all.
Have the same problem, Did you get them to work?
Raul Chavez I haven’t yet, I did get a reply from 8bitdo and they said to try the following:
After pairing.
Try manually changing/swapping the connection mode:
GEN/MD mini: SELECT+LEFT+UP
Hold 3sec swap mode
Let me know if it works for you please
@@RedHorseAdventures I was having the same issue with my Xbox one controller...after it connected to the USB adapter, I held select & down (on the d pad) for 3 secs, and then I saw the USB adapter flash. That did the trick for me as then the controller started working. I know you are trying to get a Switch controller to work, but just wanted to throw that out there in case it might help (or maybe you could try holding select & left, or select & up, etc).
David S. I appreciate the feedback, I managed to get the switch to connect and move...until I boot a game and suddenly the mapping doesn’t work 🙄. I just went with the most recent hakchi ce and maybe that’ll make things easier. I’ll update after I get things going.
peekaboo2u You’re welcome! I’m totally new to this emulation stuff so I’m constantly googling things, lol. I hope you are able to get it working!
This is cool. But I'm waiting on the hackers!! Where is the hacking community?!?! For all the other systems, hacks were out in a week! Here, it's been a month, yet nothing.. WTF?!?! I want to add games to this thing bro!!
Sorry to rant, but I'm getting blue balls here.. waiting.
It's not that easy. M2 didn't use an ordinary emulator for the Genesis mini. The community was successful but they want to make a safe and user friendly method for you to add games to your system. Be patient.
show me how to hack the sega mini though.
