BTC715 prob thought that the micro fibre is more agressive than the foam pad. In general it is, but a finishing MF is not more agressive than a medium foam pad
Love the vids but speaking as an old git you should protect your knees using interlocking foam tile or something similar. Unfortunately you won't find out until it's too late!
I did a paint correction on a black Mazda6, it was like night/day difference. Love working on black paint, i'ts unforgiving but when it's done right it looks gorgeous.
@devin Niemela... bro passes are how many times you go in one direction. Ex..(for all the times you go horizontal on one section is one pass. 2 passes would be on one panel horizontal and vertical.) rule of thumb for compounding is speed 6 with 5 passes with 5 pounds of pressure. So horizontal, vertical, horizontal, vertical, horizontal. Lol each line is not considered a pas. Plus armor shield is really not a good ceramic brand look into gtechniq or carpro or even kenzo. Evo wasn’t coated that long ago and there is no hydrophobic activity on it at all
Looks way better with the wet sand and buff nice job .we used to wet sand everything by hand rubber blocks and wet sand paper the DA is so nice way easier .
Use that orange pad you had yesterday and the heavy cut compound and it might save you some time. I just did my 05 sti in jpb and it worked awesome. Great work on the car and uploading the videos so quick.
What I learned from watching Ammo nyc awhile ago is to get the clear coat warm with 6 total passes. (Vertically then horizontally= 1 pass). Also, ease up a bit on the polish & compound. You want the pad material to do the work too!
Next time use a compound with a microfiber cutting pad from meguiars. Finish after compound with a polish and and orange HDO foam pad from lake country manufacturing. From what you showed, you're using a compound for cut, but on a finish pad. Thats probably why you had to make so many passes.
Another awesome edit as usual..doing a hell of a job on that hawkeye..paint correction is looking dialed 🤘i did that to my evo recently and it was a very long task thats for sure..if you ever see this ill buy ur NRG wheel for my drift missle..
Yo Dev ✌🏻 not trying to be a negative nancy here but that paint is SUPER hazy. Before you lay down ceramic, please get it out in the sun and double check the work. I suspect there will be a lot of refining work on that paint. Subie’s have VERY soft paint ! Just another detailer/youtuber tryna lookout for you bud ✌🏻🇿🇦
Creative Car Detailing, I was just going to say the same thing. Panels that he says are finished, look somewhat cloudy to me. Definitely makes sure they are all 100% before the ceramic coat process.
M205 with Megs cutting disc. Moderate pressure... with that soft Subaru paint is my go to. One step 85-95% correction with my LHR21. But hell you did what ya did with your options so at the end of the day. It worked!
@@phillipsramoutar1836 I HATE older Subaru paint. It's no effort to get good results. But the fine line of getting some marks out... you just can't between the age, softness and thinness of em. The VA (15+) Subaru made harder, still thin, and more of mess to work with. It still sucks 🤣
I knocked out my car in half a day I went sanded it all down in one pass and then I polished out and finished it with some sealant that adds protection to the paint and gloss it also adds another layer of gloss the sealant
That paint is from someone who took it through the auto wash with brushes and probably washed it with a dirty sponge (after doing a swirling pattern when drying with a towel.) Pro Tip: When drying use the same pattern as if you were polishing.
Amazing job Devin!! 💯🔥🔥 Something very satisfying about watching you work!! Your passion shows💯👊🏻 Keep up the grind, it's appreciated... & Highly looked forward to!!💯👊🏻
Hi Devin I bought an evo x 08 because of you I love seeing your content. Only thing is that my ACD/AYC pump just went out could you help me find one pls. Pls. Big fan of yours.
I've seen people mist water in the air right before they start painting to help get rid of air born dust. Dont know if this actually helps, but it's food for thought in the future? 😕
you're using the pads in the wrong order. the orange foam correcting pad is used first or in your case with the ultra cut compound and the microfiber fast-finishing pads is used last with the ultra finishing polish. Using the fast-finishing pad first would make the job take way longer and you would not be able to get out all the very heavy scratches. like your vids tho.
Like everything else you will get better and better bro.... Its coming on nicely I must add. Again, Im a JDM loyal so it doesn't matter that I drive an Evo... That subbie looks figgin sweet
You are using those pads in the wrong order...use the foam then the finishing pad...the foam is for the heavier cutting/correcting.. the finishing is for buffing And use a block for wet a sanding!
devin. first off let me start by buttering you up. you're a G. you've shown me a lot of tricks. now its my turn to return the favor! I work detail/paint correction @ Honda/Nissan/Lincoln/Ford/Chrysler. i have a 20 year old B5 audi that has paint close to as reflective as glass. the reason your microfiber pads are falling apart is because you are taking off so much clear that you should probably considering respraying it. either that or you will cut all the way through teh clear. you can get away with it if you just ceramic coat it after a pretty hard cut (like i said be careful) and obviously polish before the coating.
Dude like what’s your mailing address lol I’m gonna hook you up with some real buffing pads and some samples of some good quality compound and polishes it will make your life way easier and you literally would have had the car done in a day max with ceramic coating
Yo bro your wasting your time. Hit it with a compound microfiber pad. I understand your trying to “ remove the least paint as possible” but that paint needs it. Also the rupes wool pad works wonders too. Your doing it backwards, working to hard for so little.
The finishing microfiber pad should be used with 205. If anything use the orange pad with the 105 to cut more, then finish down with the 205.
BTC715 prob thought that the micro fibre is more agressive than the foam pad. In general it is, but a finishing MF is not more agressive than a medium foam pad
Didn't see no white claws linked in the description below
Savage! Lol
Aye let’s go! Literally look out for these daily.
Love the vids but speaking as an old git you should protect your knees using interlocking foam tile or something similar. Unfortunately you won't find out until it's too late!
Watching these vids becomes the daily routine
It literally has for me recently :D
Facts
Facts, This is my morning breakfast show.
there usually 3 pads. wool foam and ultra foam pad. they mostly use 3 steps for a black car
I did a paint correction on a black Mazda6, it was like night/day difference. Love working on black paint, i'ts unforgiving but when it's done right it looks gorgeous.

Had me cringing when you went around those edges. Glad you didn’t burn thru the paint.
Man it’s so nice just sitting and looking at fresh glossy paint.
When do you know if to do a paint correction or just paint over the car?
I'd guess by how much thickness you have left using a depth gauge and how deep the defects are.
You're the first RUclips I've consistently watched since subscribing. Great content 💪🏿
Calipers YELLOW. LIke the tape
Tell me why that tool @ 5:17 sounds like a viper LoL

Up down left right, cross hatch pattern when sanding, easier to polish out

You should use Gtechniq Crystal Serum Light and EXO v4 for your Ceramic Coating
Seems to be the best bang for the buck. I will be using Gyeon Syncro for my Harley and CSL + EXO v4 for my subie

They’re not polished yet, when it’s polished she looks mint. You’ll see in tomorrow’s video :)
Wow what a great job on the car, especially on the trunk, omg now i wanne do this to my own car. Looking forward to the end result 🤟🤟👍
Looks good man. Next time go to advance and pick up the Maguire's cutting disk Can't go wrong with Meguiar's
M205 with Megs cutting disc. Moderate pressure... with that soft Subaru paint is my go to. One step 85-95% correction with my LHR21.

that's true. Putting to much pressure can heat up the paint or clear too much. When the paint gets hot it can burn the paint.

How much would you sell this sti for
I knocked out my car in half a day I went sanded it all down in one pass and then I polished out and finished it with some sealant that adds protection to the paint and gloss it also adds another layer of gloss the sealant
Good job today D. 💯👍 Looks good brother
Music at 7:09 ?
also the 1,500 wet. is right. just have to be slow with higher speed but be careful not to burn through
Jesus man... this Subie is looking absolutely IN-SANE! Great job Devin! 🤘🏼
Should be wool pad cutting it once lol. DA is good for a semi new car that doesnt need a huge correction.
The wing looked like GLASS after u were finished with it Devin😎👌🏻.
That paint is from someone who took it through the auto wash with brushes and probably washed it with a dirty sponge (after doing a swirling pattern when drying with a towel.) Pro Tip: When drying use the same pattern as if you were polishing.
I honestly never think i would like a Hawkeye STi but whewwww! it's looking good son!
Amazing job Devin!! 💯🔥🔥 Something very satisfying about watching you work!! Your passion shows💯👊🏻 Keep up the grind, it's appreciated... & Highly looked forward to!!💯👊🏻

Excellent detail 💪👏
Hi Devin I bought an evo x 08 because of you I love seeing your content. Only thing is that my ACD/AYC pump just went out could you help me find one pls. Pls. Big fan of yours.
I literally saw you with a real buffer yesterday with a wool pad. That's what we need. Cut it with that!
I've seen people mist water in the air right before they start painting to help get rid of air born dust. Dont know if this actually helps, but it's food for thought in the future? 😕

I admire your consistency man!!!!
Looks sweet man!!!! Did you install LED lights in the garage recently?
for car at that level. should been. 1,500 wet then 3,000 wet the buffing. 3 steps. for a car with that scale of scratches. i hope this helps.
Bro try UP UP DOWN DOWN LEFT RIGHT LEFT RIGHT B A Start and voilà! ...all done ✅
Think you got the pads the wrong way round at the beginning boss!
He’s perfect dumb dog

Pull it out into the sun and check for holograms before you put any ceramic coat on!
You are using those pads in the wrong order...use the foam then the finishing pad...the foam is for the heavier cutting/correcting.. the finishing is for buffing
And use a block for wet a sanding!
I'm not old enough for white claw 🤓

Obsidian Black Sand Pearl

THERES NO LAWS WHEN YOU DRANKING THE CLAWS BABAY!

you can get away with it if you just ceramic coat it after a pretty hard cut (like i said be careful) and obviously polish before the coating.
and if you respray anything you gotta have such low dust so you dont have to wet sand as much to get the fish eyes out.
if you wanna cut corners use a regular rotary buffer to cut it down so you can press more with a wool pad. the 3 axis buffers take way too long.
you notice how the pad stops spinning and just vibrates? It's because the pad is too large for the curve of the body. thats why it takes so long.
So many hours of work probably a pro job would have cost almost 2K
Didn't link the whiteclaws homie. Real pros do trulys
You're kicking a$$ Devin
Good news next time por favor
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Why doesn't Devin get a supra or nissan gtr r34 or r32
