  • The Ottawa region boasts 1,000 kilometres of cycling trails. The Ottawa River Trail is approximately 20 kilometres following mostly along the Ottawa River. This ride offers fantastic views of the river as it spans across to the province of Quebec. I start my ride east of Ottawa in Orleans and cycle west to reach downtown, past the Parliament Buildings and over the Champlain bridge to cycle on the sister trail, The Voyageur Pathway in Gatineau. I have been wanting to check out the recently repurposed Chief Commanda passenger bridge before returning to Orleans. This was a stellar day on the bike.

I often ride this path. Very nice trail. The Rideau River trail is also a really nice run, but not very long.

Very nice indeed. It is really great to have such an extensive trail network in an urban area
