    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Sydney (Annette Bening) gets more than she bargains for when The President (Michael Douglas) unexpectedly walks in on a meeting right when she is insulting him.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
This earnest, intelligent, and well-written romantic comedy is enjoyable and optimistic in classic Hollywood style, even if its idealism doesn't seem quite so credible against the cynical political backdrop of the Nineties. President Andrew Shepherd (Michael Douglas), an unabashedly liberal Democrat, is just gearing up for re-election when he meets an attractive and sharp environmental lobbyist named Sydney Wade (Annette Bening). The two fall in love and the President must soon deal with the political repercussions (Sydney is trying to get legislation through Congress), as well as the cynical machinations of Republican opponent Senator Bob Rumson (Richard Dreyfuss), who attempts to paint Sydney as a radical and use "family values" rhetoric to smear Shepherd. With the attacks affecting his standings in the all-important polls, and his love's legislation causing him headaches in the Capitol, Shepherd must decide whether he can risk continuing his relationship. A rich supporting cast, solid characterizations by Douglas and Bening, and an articulate approach make this an appealing, if not particularly weighty, study of the tensions between public and private life.

A good film but IMO seriously underrated just like Michael Douglas's other films "Falling Down" and "The Game".

So Leo's office from the West Wing looks a lot different in this. I guess when Martin Sheen became president, he changed a bunch of stuff.

I love how everyone was talking about global warming in 1995 already, and the current administration act like they've never heard of it before.

That may have a lot to do with 'Global Warming' being a load of rubbish designed to scare the public. This movie came out in 1995, just 5 years before the Global Warming stopped for 15 years - so the alarmists had to change the name to 'Climate Change' - after all, how can you have Global Warming when it's not Warming?!
Before Hansen and others started their scare stories, other junk scientists claimed that an Ice Age was on the way. That didn't happen either. Neither did the floods that Hansen predicted. Indeed, none of the IPCC predictions ever came right. The Climate is always changing. Has been since the planet was formed, Anthropogenic carbon dioxide has negligible effect on it. Indeed, none of the Alarmist scientists has been able to produce a model which proves conclusively that man is having any effect upon the Climate. In my view, it's the height of arrogance to suggest that we are having any major effect at all.
Man made CO2 does cause some warming, even Nobel prize winning 'deniers' like Freeman Dyson agreed that. However, they pointed out that the amount of anthropogenic CO2 is so small, that the effect is miniscule. What is far more important is that we do not deny people access to cheap energy, or you get disasters where the poor freeze, because they cannot afford the high prices set to pay for 'fashionable' renewables that simply fail to carry the load when most needed.

@@WOTArtyNoobs It is clear that the massive population increase over the last 150 years has been closely mirrored by a rise in CO2. No one today can dispute this. Global warming did not stop for 15 years, that is simply the science deniers not understanding science. I would stick to playing Arty if i were you, you will get laughed at less. Scientific evidence continues to show that human activities (primarily the human burning of fossil fuels) have warmed Earth’s surface and its ocean basins, which in turn have continued to impact Earth’s climate. This is based on over a century of scientific evidence forming the structural backbone of today's civilization. The CO2 produced from fossil fuels carries a unique signature that differentiates it from CO2 produced from other sources. In brief, it carries a specific ratio of carbon isotopes that is only found in the atmosphere when coal, oil, or gas is burned. Scientists call this δ13C (pronounced "delta C thirteen"), and it’s a smoking gun. Since the 1880s, δ13C has changed in a way that could only happen if CO2 was increasingly coming from fossil fuel sources. This information tells scientists that human-caused fossil fuel emissions have been the main contributor to the rise in CO2 concentrations since the pre-industrial era.

@@freddieclark You really out to take some science courses and maybe you'd look a lot less foolish. Maybe I can suggest a channel that focuses on Space weather as well as Earth weather. smAshomAsh knows what he's talking about as he's writing a ground breaking thesis on solar polar reversal theory and has been monitoring solar activity for decades.
The reason for the pause was down to solar cycle 24. Cycle 23 was when solar activity was dropping and cycle 24 when it went to minimum. We are now the other side of the minimum and despite NASA suggesting that this cycle is the minimum we are already seeing a massive increase in solar activity. Solar activity influences the amount of cloud formation by attenuating Cosmic rays and CCN. None of the IPCC models include adequate cloud theory and that's why they are consistently 'cooking the books'.
I refer you to J. KAUPPINEN AND P. MALMI and their paper: NO EXPERIMENTAL EVIDENCE FOR THE SIGNIFICANT ANTHROPOGENIC CLIMATE CHANGE:
Abstract. In this paper we will prove that GCM-models used in IPCC report AR5 fail to calculate the influences of the low cloud cover changes on the global temperature. That is why those models give a very small natural temperature change leaving a very large change for the contribution of the green house gases in the observed temperature. This is the reason why IPCC has to use a very large sensitivity to compensate a too small natural component. Further they have to leave out the strong negative feedback due to the clouds in order to magnify the sensitivity. In addition, this paper proves that the changes in the low cloud cover fraction practically control the global temperature.

@@WOTArtyNoobs I do not need to take science courses to read the many reports that conclusively prove climate change is strongly influenced by human action and the massive increase in human population. People like you have been trying for many years to poo-poo established science. the vast majority of scientists now agree that human activity is causing an acceleration in CO2 levels, there really is no debate over this except for the few crazies who continue to make stupid claims that are not backed up by anything other than fudged papers. As you have just shown, a non peer reviewed paper that makes bold claims, but unfortunately for you is just nonsense. The source of their claimed global cloud dataset is not given, and no research on their proposed mechanism for climate change is cited. The paper's authors wrote that "clouds and humidity are causing all the temperature change", but satellite measurements suggest, if anything, the opposite. The document only cites six references, four of which are the authors’ own, and of these, two are not actually published. Crucial data sources are not provided, figures used to support their claims are at odds with peer-reviewed studies, and the authors make claims well beyond the scope of their data, without justification. In short, your 'Gotcha' paper has flawed reasoning, Inadequate support and fails to provide correct physical explanations. basically you are using a paper that has already been shown to be complete nonsense to try and make your argument. I suggest you need to take a few science courses as you have just made a complete fool of yourself.
