The City of Melbourne recently celebrated the long term commitment of Melbourne’s small businesses as part of the Lord Mayor’s Commendations. 72 independent small business proprietors and two generational family businesses were recognised at the 2014 presentation ceremony. Watch the inspirational story of Sisto Malaspina and Nino Pangrazio, recognised in 2014 Lord Mayor’s Commendations.
Selflessly running toward danger, in his 70s, to help a fellow Aussie, who was sadly a very broken & violent person, says so much about this man. He's set an example of what it means to care about your community, to sacrifice your own safety, and sadly your own life, in service of another person. He didn't deserve to have his life taken so pointlessly and violently. Us Aussies all, should take pause and reflect on his legacy. Sisto was true blue.
had he been racist, he would be alive.
@phil osophical Agree 100%
R.I.P Sisto
He patted me on the back when I was there last month, such a loving soul. RIP
Sisto, my great grandfather and Nonno was your customer. As were my own children. Rest in peace friend.
Deeply saddened by the news. Rest in peace Sisto.
RIP Sisto you beautiful soul. A very tragic loss to the Melbourne community. Will be sure to visit Pellegrini's very soon
Absolutely devastated, riposo in pace carrissimo Sisto, heartfelt and sincerest condolences alla tua famiglia.
Il nostri cuori sono spezzati.
I will never forget the time when i went here with my family and sisto offered us seating in the back kitchen. Such a gentle and humble man who will be deerly missed by all of melbourne.
Riposa in pace Sisto condoglianze alla tua famiglia tutti i cuori qui in Melbourne sono spezzate in mille pezzettini.
A world of thanks for making Pellegrini’s a home away from home
I did not know this man, but he seemed to be a very genuinely community minded person. To know he was stabbed to death by the person he was selflessly going to help in the burning car...is such a tragedy. But...it shows me the character that this man was. Warm, caring, kind and loving. I'm sure he will be greatly missed.
Rip Sisto we all love you
Rest in peace the man I never knew but contributed to Australian Society immensely
I knew him well! When I heard this I was devastated. Currently I live abroad and was sent an e-mail by my sister of the deceased male identified as Sisto Malaspina. I saw the news in Australia from where I am offshore, I would never has guessed it to be Sisto....May God bless him and condolences to his family. For the record there are only three places on earth to get a great black coffee. Espresso or Americano: New York, Pellegrini's Melbourne, and any where in Sisto's country of origin. Italy. So sad....
Rest in peace Sisto 😥😥 you were a great man, great to our family, we always had good chats, good laughs and made great food for us all. We'll never forget the great times we spent together as members of your wonderful cafe.
May the road rise to meet you, lest we forget 😥❤. Rest in piece in our hearts ❤❤
Bless you, beautiful man.
Riposa in Pace caro Sisto, ci mancherai

Rest In Peace :(
Very sad innocent people die for no reason; RIP.

il suo nome era scritto sul caricatore di Tarran ?
Stabbed at the TAB. I hoped he won...
Hai ucciso una persona buona che tu possa essere maledetto per il resto dei tuoi giorni assieme ai tuoi mandanti che ti hanno indottrinato
Marcite nella vostra vita di tristezza per sempre
Sad that he died but i cannot help thinking if it was an average joe like myself or any other person commenting we would not get a state funeral or media attention. A life is a life
What an insolent comment. What have you done for the community? He was a pioneer and a Melbourne icon. If you want a state funeral, get off the keyboard and earn it. You said it yourself 'Average Joe'.
@@andrewcorrie1066 we both know thats crap anybody who died from that incident should be remembered not just because he owned a coffee shop, great guy I am sure we need to keep in context
Your comment was beyond the ken at a very sensitive moment, many people that knew Sisto personally or not, would keep their opinions moderate. Take a cold shower.
@@bestestusername lol you know how melbourne is known for its coffee world wide?.. Well it all started with this coffee shop... I think thats pretty significant no?
@@andrewcorrie1066 He started the Melbourne coffee scene..
