shoshana is everything. she always owns anything she sings; really brings a unique & strong emotion to life in this song.
Shoshana was the oldest Jenna and I loved the way she played her. You could just see that life had beat her up and worn her down until she had just given up. She's not angry or sad, she's just hopeless. I love how each actor that played the role portrayed Jenna in different ways. As for my favorite, it's Shoshana like the way. She's just a beast and one of the most technically brilliant vocalists I've ever heard. Every single time I hear her performance of this song I'm moved.

Alison - best combo of acting and singing (felt the most emotion with this performance)
Shoshana - wasn’t a fan of the way she started the song off but she pulled it all together and was good
Jordan - probably the cleanest performance but didn’t feel the emotion with her performance
Kathrine - did a good job overall but compared to the other performances her voice isn’t as strong and didn’t instill the emotion as well

Totally agree Shoshana is the kween! Have seen all performances of this song and none compare to hers even though they’re all good in their own right. Also Ivy Lynn would kill this song! Just look at her performance in season 1 of Second Hand White Baby Grand plus mix in her performance of They Just Keep Moving the Line from season 2 and you can tell she would body this song. Obviously it would still not compare to Sho’s but it would be great!

Shoshana is overall the most powerful performance. It’s very different. You can honestly feel the characters emotions and journey the most. Shoshanas Interpretation is a older new mom who’s having a reckoning of the character giving up hope of a new life, remembering who she used to be, and comes to terms why she has to sacrifice her own dreams and praying her daughter will understand. She more than the other 3 steps outside the classical realm of the character. It’s an entirely unique vibe from the other 3. 5/5 ✨
Katherines interpretation is very unique as well. In contrast to Shoshana She conveys a younger more insecure new mom the best who has to give up her dreams of a better life but understands it’s for the best. In contrast to Shoshana, Her interpretation really shows why she had to grow up and sacrifice herself but still hopes her daughter understands this was the only choice she could make. 4/5✨
Jordan is the most pop singer based interpretation. It’s similar to Katherines but is unique conveying a powerful mama bear. It’s beautiful but doesn’t convey the characters emotions as much as the other 3. 3/5 ✨
Allison is probably the most technical sounding version of the other 3. Her interpretation is also a younger character who temporarily gives up her dreams but misses the mark in conveying why the character is doing what’s she’s doing. It’s a wonderful vocal performance though. 3/5✨

how can you compare this song without using Jeremy's version. He got the most viewed out of the song and there s a legit reason for it :) His version and Shoshana are propably the best for me.

It’s impossible to sing this beautiful song badly! Every version is amazing. I’m surprised you didn’t include Jessie Mueller since she was the original Jenna, and the benchmark for all other Jenna’s to follow. My personal favorite is Alison luff though, I love the raw anger and emotion she brings to it. She never fails to bring me to 😭.

In Oct 2020 when you did this comparison, Morissette's live performance was already uploaded in YT. No reason why the best version, Morissette's, should be excluded.
