The cylinder sequence stated on the video is WRONG! The cylinders go 1,3,5 close to the firewall and 2,4,6 close to the front of the car.

Basic know-how is covered here; it's not the end of the world if you don't sterilize the engine or torque exactly to spec. If you want to do it "right", buy an approved manual and follow that step by step, using this for general reference. I'm thankful these guys took the time to document what they did so I know what to look for.

A 2006 Maxima is basically the same, but the engine is set further back under firewall. Its easier if you go ahead and remove all the plastic covers, and wiper blades so you have room to get to back of intake manifold.

I feel like I need to drink some coffee for some reason. But thanks for doing this, I going to brew some coffee and change my plugs myself instead of having the mechanic do it..

Firewall side cylinders are 1,3,5, then side nearest to hood latch is 2,4,6. ******If anyone is needing to replace cyl coil 2 or 3, do not listen to what is said in this video Lol.

Did you get your car fixed? I'm having the same problem but the mechanic at Nissan says it will cost $708 just for 6 new spark plugs and change 2 coils. Does that sound right?

Thanks for the video I was able to replace my coil pack but the firing sequence you said in the video for a 2003 in not correct. The three up against the fire wall are 1 3 and 5 and the ones to the front of the engine are 2 4 and 6.

You definitely said 1, 2 and 3 were at the top near the firewall and 4, 5 and 6 were at the bottom in front of the intake manifold. No worries though, everyone makes mistakes.

I just spent $100 on 6 ignition coils brand new. For anyone that is needed to replace your ignition coils I would not recommend a auto parts store or the dealership I would recommend Amazon they are very cheap and they ship on time you might have to wait a couple of days unless if you do overnight shipping that might cost a little bit extra but it would still be cheaper than purchasing it from the store

Nissan is one of the most unnecessarily complicated engines in the world. Mechanic asks for high rate to fix them because they just do not want the job. Stay away from Nissan if you want to live happy. BTW: great video ..thx.

I have an 07 Infiniti M35 with the same VQ35DE engine and while I love it, it really sucks that half of the ignition system is a breeze to access and the other half is buried underneath the intake manifold. I just passed 100,000 miles in mine and have been thinking about proactively swapping out the coil packs and spark plugs but getting that manifold off just seems like a bit of a hassle so it may have to wait until I have a few free hours and the will to do it.

hi ... i have nissan maxima year 2001 limited, in the first km he walks well after even stepping on the accelerator he loses all power, i already took in several mechanics but nobody can fix it, u can give me a hint of what could be causing the lack of punctuation, the needle is at 6,000 rpm and the speed is no more than 30km / h.
if you can help me thank you.

  • @bryanbanks1966

You must take care to clean out the well leading to the spark plug or catastrophic damage can occur also you must use NGK brand Nissan plugs. Do NOT under any circumstance use another brand of plug in this engine. I learned this lesson the hard way. $5,00.00 later with a new engine in my Z car which has essentially the same engine.

Thx Steve: is there a way to check if coil or wire or plug itself is faulty ?

    • @jacobm7026
      @jacobm7026 6 лет назад +1

For anyone looking at this comment and wondering the same thing: If the coil pack is electrically controlled (they are), then grab a multimeter and check for voltage and resistance. Or, if you already have the manifold cover off, unplug the wire giving voltage to each coil pack while the car is idling and see how the car responds. If it does nothing, that coil pack is bad. However, only do these tests if your car has that check engine light on. If your car needs them, 99% of the time it'll cause a check engine light to go off

How many spark plugs are in that car? How much are they? How much would 1 coil cost? My Nissan mechanic says its $708 for 6 new spark plugs and 2 coils. Is that sound right?

Great video but your counting sequences for the coil packs are totally wrong. Someone else also mentioned your error but you said that's exactly what you said. Well, you actually didn't and your counting sequence is definitely wrong in your video. You stated in your video that the coils by the firewall under the intake plenum were 1-2- and 3 and that the coils in the front of the engine were 4-5-and 6 which is incorrect. The correct counting sequence for the coils are 1-3- and 5 by the firewall under the intake plenum and 2-4- and 6 in the front of the engine.

Richard K He got lucky with having the number 1...probably a p0301. So he got the number 1 right. If it had been another code, he definitely would've gotten it wrong. The intake had to come off in this case.

Please if you're going to make another video, let someone who knows what they're talking about speak. You are not educated in this field and you are misleading poor people. How about torquing your spark plugs or blowing dirt from around the spark plug before fully removing it with compressed air? How about replacing your intake gasket when removing the intake manifold? Or calling it an intake manifold and not and "intake cover"
