I remember watching this episode and Costa's ability to not not take himself too seriously and just take the banter in good humour, actually completely changed my preconceived opinion of him.
he's been a really good sport every time he's been on buzzcocks and genuinely seems to know his music, not a blue fan but i now have respect for the guy
When a guest weathers the storm well, it's good advertising - wins over the audience and reinforces the fans. I bet his tour did a little bit better just because of this episode.
Apparently, it was cancelled due to lack of interest after only 15 people turned up on the first night. I wish I was joking, but that's genuinely what I remember hearing. Poor guy.
My theory about 4:25 to 4:40 is that Phill Jupitus was generously feeding Antony the first half of a joke, asking what's his favourite cheese and Antony hopefully replying "Blue!" to seal the gag. Unfortunately Antony doesn't get it, replies "Brie" and Phill awkwardly finishes the exchange.
I wonder whether they had a number of questions lined up for which the answer should have been "blue" but Simon decided to can it when Antony missed the first one. In Antony's defence though, I doubt that he was really looking out for something like that and was really just trying to keep his head down until the barrage was over. As others have said, I admire his stoicism and the fact that he doesn't seem to take himself too seriously.
Antony is a very good sport! There's only 2 ways to desl with Amstell and A.Costa didn't wslk out like Preston, he took it on the chin! He's the kind of guy I would probably enjoy a drink down the pub with! I can't stand people who can't laugh at themselves! Big hugs Antony ♡
if you head on to that show then you knew you were in for a roasting MLM was the master though it's not that he was savage... he was worse! Fair play Anthony kudos for taking it #
-"Do you still talk to them...?" " Yeah..." -"And what do you say" "Hello" -And who writes that?" You got to have an extremely thick skin to gulp things like that down but Antony was a fucking nice sport.
In all of Simons time as host he was probably never more mericiless with the pisstaking than he was towards Antony, but he still came out of it looking like a lovely bloke.
All you have to do is be a good sport, or pretend to be, for an hour while a comedian shits on your entire career and you get instant respect! Good on you Antony Costa!
Nah, this appearance would have been fantastic publicity for him. He remained good humoured while being gently tormented by Simon, that's the way you do it!
What a star...well done !!! Took it all and still smiled... Simon was there to take the piss and Anthony did really well. That was the show... nothing to do with bullying... you went on there … expect someone to rip you apart.
Seen Antony on a couple of things, comes across a sound guy. He done well up against Amstell because he can be brutal, he got his fireworks pissed on here! & Mr Costa earned a lot of respect.
I used to work in the film industry (nothing glamorous ,just looking after sets n sometimes holding umbrellas to stop certain actors getting photographed) & worked on the set of one of Blues 1st videos...(Had to look after a car they were using in the shoot) just thought I would share that .does anyone care? Nope lol
i don't know for sure but i imagine this definitely boosted costa's profile, all publicity is good and his tour probably sold more tickets then if he had just been floating around in obscurity for the past five years
Took it well. I remember when Simon Amstel did stand up and bombed at the Leeds Festival, he tried doing a dance to recover it and failed. Not enough material haha
To be fair to Anthony I've never seen anyone on this show get grilled this badly. He took it in his stride and he's up for a laugh. Fair play Anthony alot of people would have got upset. Eg: Preston, Donnie Tourette etc.
Absolutely fair play to Anthony for how well he took all of this, took it on the chin like a champ
yea he was a good sport eh
I met him a few days after this and he was humble, funny and a great sport. Decent guy.
Just watched him and Simon on celebrity coach trip and thought they came across really well. Quiet, humble, friendly.
Simon is pretty brutal in this episode. Good on Antony for being such a sport about it.
No, I think Simon knew just how far he could push Anthony. It was when that stupid woman laid into Anthony I didn't like it. Shut up.
@@richl6966 huh? what woman?
Brutal?? It's all banter and good fun.

Took quite a merciless ribbing with good humour - seems able to take the piss out of himself
berlinmitte10117 - Dying & crying inside though 😰😭 😂😂😂
His appearances on NMTB made me a fan of him as a person. He takes it all so well.
Chaz Dadkhah he took it well enough anyway. Sure everyone would be a little bit fucked off after getting slaughtered for however long it was.
Costa was mauled, but he took it like a man rather than flouncing off like that prick Preston.
Massive respect to Antony Costa for being a good sport
One of the more mature celebrities on NMTB, didn't get all butthurt at Simon.
And god only knows Simon went fucking in on this one too.
he's been a really good sport every time he's been on buzzcocks and genuinely seems to know his music, not a blue fan but i now have respect for the guy
I have never seen anybody get taken apart as well as Antony Costa was. Fair play to Antony he took it all in his stride.
That was brutal, fair play to Antony for having a laugh and going with it.
He’s always been an easy target for taking the piss, but he’s also always been a great sport and able to take a joke. Fair play to him.
I saw Antony in blood brothers and his acting and voice were great, I was pleasantly surprised!
This would make anyone like him if they didn’t like him before. Guy can take some serious shells

I have a whole new respect for anthony costa! fair play!
Didn't like costa before episode. Afterwards, respect risen substantially.
All rise.
Good on you Costa, took it in the spirit! Hilarious ripping

It'd be fucking great if it was a next-level play by Antony to take Jupitus down by breaking his joke on purpose, :P
@@ParadigmZwei I am not sure Antony Costa operates on that kind of level.
I think Antony Costa just likes brie.

My favourite which wasn't included was "I bet Stevie Wonder gets people come up to him all the time saying "didn't you do that song with Blue?""
"Aren't you that bloke out of Blue?"
Stevie Wonder's Guide Band.
Lol I watched the vid expecting that one! Was absolutely hilarous

Antony Costa was brilliant in this. He took it so well because Simon really went in on him. Brilliant TV
In all of Simons time as host he was probably never more mericiless with the pisstaking than he was towards Antony, but he still came out of it looking like a lovely bloke.
Nah he was way worse towards Danny Dyer, Anthea Turner, Preston and Donny Tourette to name just a few.
Jermaine Jackson took an absolute ripping and handled it really well
Best example of sharp knife and thick skin, ever.
Respect to all involved. Hats off.

Got the City on Lockdown.... Those lyrics aged remarkably well 😂
To be fair to Mr. Costa, he knew the lyrics from some time ago which he hadn't written which is better than many on the show
'i just promoted your fukin tour' that was my favourite bit lol
He’s a good sport. I like him.
Good sport!
This is the best episode...I can watch it again and again and it's still funny... Poor Anthony, though :)
Nah, this appearance would have been fantastic publicity for him. He remained good humoured while being gently tormented by Simon, that's the way you do it!
He takes it well, good on him!
" I bloody love Blue" Simon Amstell
Kate Nash's comment sounded like a genuine insult. At least Simon Amstell was obviously joking.
Yh came across as nasty and negative
Yeah she just jumped on the band wagon but without the charisma, boo!
She wasn't talking about Anthony Costa.
If anything she was on his side.
Love Anthony. It's always better when you don't take yourself to seriously and he never did
"i just promoted your fucking tour!!!" lol i love simon
Love Costa in this. Took it all as a joke and had a laugh with it. Top guy
When Antony Costa becomes your favourite member of blue

This was fuckin hilarious, the best ripping i think ive ever seen on Buzzcocks
Always thought that his response to the question n answer session should have been
"Anthony, whats your favourite cheese?"
"Blue!!"
I love people like Anthony, who don't mind if the piss gets taken out of them and actually have a sense of humor.
he actually came back on several times to get the piss taken out of him, and to let simon prepare.
"we wrote some of our own stuff. we did." "yeah but that's-come on..."
Wow he took so many jabs, but it was so hilarious. This made me smile/laugh so much my cheeks hurt.
