I love the content balance your videos have. Scenery, sightseeing, hiking, history. Sometimes easy hikes most people can do, sometimes more adventurous, sometimes backpacking, sometimes "car/SUV" camping. Your appreciation of the history of what you see and how people once lived in these areas and your relaxed and informative style of narration are major reasons I watch your channel.

Capital Reef rocks. I spent a week there last year with my best friend. So excellent. We hiked the Muley Twist Canyon and many other places. Almost NO people about. It was slightly surreal for a National Park experience.

Your camp at the old chimney was the trailhead for Old Woman Wash lollipop. It’s actually quite spectacular, has a couple of pictographs (one is large and really cool), and if you think CRNP is quiet! My wife and I hiked it last Halloween weekend and didn’t see another soul the whole day.

I hiked Capital Reef in September 1997, visited the tiny schoolhouse and picked apples in one of the orchards. Hiked the Hickman bridge trail but didn't go to the bridge but continued on to Navajo Knobs. Climbed to the top of the highest Navajo sandstone knob for the most amazing views West. Such a quite trail beyond Hickman.

What always strikes me is the climatic conditions that deposited “All” of that sandstone - upon sandstone - upon sandstone. Drives home the fact that this Earth we are given the privilege to live on: has gone through many-many-many environmental changes. As it will continue to do. I love the Geological record. Thank you 🏜 for being such a show off.. 👍 Thank you for your content.

You are so right about Capitol Reef - less crowded and plenty to see! I really got a kick out of the holes in the rock you pointed out or Swiss Cheese; I've seen a lot of similar erosion especially along Escalante River. Your hikes really give people a view of the wonders of Utah; your take on up close things of interest combined with long vistas is ideal. I agree with many of your viewers that your unique combination of sights and commentary is close to perfect.

When you got to the "tanks" and you showed us that the trail pretty much ends there, but then you pointed above and beyond that endpoint, I felt the familiar urge I always get, wanting to know "what lies beyond?"
Sure enough, 5 seconds later in yr video, you had gone ahead and hiked "beyond," and I found myself chuckling, "god, he's just like me; can't be satisfied with an endpoint -- gotta go see what more there is"! 😆
And strawberry-rhubarb pie is always a winning choice!

Capital Reef is indeed a great park...
Bach in the mid 1970’s I drove the Burr Trail from Bullfrog to Boulder in an old Chevy station wagon...
A dirt road all the way and forded a couple of streams with a wife and 3 kids...
It was a great trip and we encountered nobody the entire distance...
It was not designated as a national park back then...
We stopped and had ate lunch along a creek near Boulder...
I just love Utah and have recently stayed in Teasdale and love the whole state...

Those may have been the most diverse and interesting petroglyphs that I have ever seen, video or otherwise! Very cool! I've always wondered about the meanings of them all! And the backstory to their creation. I guess many remain a mystery to this day.
My Grandmother made THE BEST strawberry rhubarb ever! Hands down the best that I have ever had and I try it everywhere that sells it! I very much wish that I had her recipe! And the secret that never gets written down! 😅 She was born in 1880 and I swear secret recipe tips were guarded more heavily than any national secret 😂

Spent the evening before making the hike in arches to delicate arch. So many people even as the sun set.
The next evening we hiked to Cassidy arch in Capitol reef. The two hikes are similar in length and elevation change. But at Cassidy arch you could explore and enjoy without crowds. I think we saw 4 pairs of hikers that evening.

I was at CR 4 months ago and hiked the same trail. The tanks I saw were much deeper and more sheltered from the elements, and one had a small arch above it. I think they were farther down towards the gorge from the ones shown on here. They both had quite a bit of water in them. 9 months ago, maybe not. On my way up, missed one of the cairns so ended up off trail and at the bottom of one of the peaks shown in the video, aimlessly trying to find the tanks. Had to backtrack and eventually found where I got off trail.

Dang - I just missed you at Capital Reef NP! I visited there during the last week of March maybe a week or two after your were there. It was my first visit there, and I was inspired in part from an earlier video of yours when you visited a more remote part of this park. While I did a little SUVrving in my Ford Escape, I cheated and stayed mostly in hotels. The Fruita area was much busier during this spring break week, and I made it a point to get to the Cassidy Arch trailhead early in the morning to beat the crowd. I was the first person up to the arch that morning on this busy trail and had this popular trail and arch to myself until my descent... not bad for a 60 year old geezer. Like you, I would much rather hike alone or with very few others. Your campsite was very near another hike I took later in the day to Wild Horse window, another interesting hike. As I drove through this part of Utah. I kept looking down little gravel roads in the area thinking about your earlier video series in this area and the hidden locations you had visited. Thanks for the inspiration and travel ideas - it was a great spring break trip.

Enjoy watching your videos. I'm from New England, and don't know when the planets will align so that I can explore the West, but this is certainly the next best thing. Thank you, Tristan.

I enjoy the area, and the campground is decent and had a good sight when waking up in the morning with the sun on the red/orange rock. Unfortunately the drought we've had in our area the past 20+ years has taken it's toll. Hard to find water in tanks in a lot of areas.
Not far from Capital Reef NP is the area on the highway where you drive through the grey barren landscape with no vegetation. It always makes me feel like I'm driving on the moon.

I agree, that gray barren landscape is really unique and interesting! Thanks for watching.

Was in Capitol Reef last summer and loved it. Did the Sulphur Creek hike. Capitol Reef's version of the Zion Narrows with about 1/1000 of the crowds. One of my favorite hikes ever

@@SUVRVing Just now watched it. That was great! I started the hike with the 3 mile road walk first...just to get it out of the way. When I did it in August...that water felt great! I was curious about one thing...when I went there was a pretty deep pool I had to swim through between the 2d and 3d waterfall (I believe). Did you do that or did you somehow climb around it?
