“...my moods are, more or less, inversely related to the clarity of the sky on any given day...” This man is so thoughtful and well spoken. I love learning more and more about him! I’ve loved his musical talent for 50 years but watching these Utube videos documenting his life have made me even a bigger fan!
He is an interesting character is Glenn Gould. I love his recordings and they are played to death but I kind of like hi quirkiness as well. I'm not sure how much of it was down to real eccentricity or maybe Aspergers or whether he exaggerated it a bit to maintain his mystique. In any case i love this film.
@HoboSuperstar -- The filmmaker "inserted all this horrid pop music into this film." I present the film in its entirety in the role of archivist. Perhaps you can find a copy of the film & manipulate it to your liking (if Gould's posture is to hunched for your liking, for example, you can superimpose Horowitz). Fin.
It's weird this guy says he's more comfortable with cloudy days than sunshine, doesn't like that people drink alcohol, doesn't like people partying, he doesn't understand why people like amusement parks and prefers wandering around places on his lonesome. And then you find out he had major depressive disorder and died at age 50 from a stress stroke. Damn dude way to bottle up your emotions.
I mean, to be fair, there are big stars who do all of those things and still find themselves depressed. Least he didn't die of an overdose or committed suicide like some of them did.

thanks so much for uploading the whole film..
Grew up in North York, right near the streets he was driving around. It was a good place to grow up in those days.

He managed his brand very well.
Incredible how Yorkville's identity has changed in just 30ish years.
" behind every silver lining is a cloud"..lol
7:13 I had read that Glenn was left handed but here he holds the spoon in his right hand.
It's a spoon for crying out loud. Most can manage it with either hand.
Gould was left-handed. So was Rubenstein and many pianists for some reason. I rather think many are ambidextrous.
the camera work is awesome
5:00 He has never appeared so much like the alien he really was- marveling at the shopping mall. Absurd!
Thank you very much.
lol I half expected Gould to be boogeying along there from 8.07
great upload, thanks a lot!
quite the car he drives..

6:15 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Glenn Gould had a driving licence? When did he do that?
At 1.30 the folk singer is a dead ringer for Matthew McConaughey!
Late 50s
Exhibition Stadium remained Prohibition Stadium until 1982
Спасибо! С любовью из России!
Gould was known to have genuinely liked some pop music, the poor uneducated oaf... if only you were there for him to help improve his taste!

Bold to assume that you need to engage in a specific set of behaviors to “not be depressed”
