Erich Honecker really wanted to become a farmer in his youth but both he and hIs family lacked the money, for him to become one, he became a roofer as an alternative (because he liked to be outside)!
This "biography" of him is also very brief!
I think there are better biographies on him on the Internet, also in English or with English subtitels!
I remember hearing about him in the news, when I was 13 or 14 years old. Turned out that the GDR had received scores of Chilean exiles, so when the Pinochet dictatorship ended, the newly appointed Chilean government was happy to pay back and welcomed him with open arms.
EDIT: How about doing a video on Paul Schäfer? As a Chilean, I'd love to see the perspective of a German on this nasty character. Keep it up mate!

It's amazing just how many "survivors" came out of the woodwork, when Uncle Auggie voluntarily gave up power. When Chileans wanted to leave the country, Uncle Auggie didn't stop them.
Another excellent episode Wolf. Thankyou for your awesome content.
6:44 Glasnost’ (гласность) is more accurately translated as transparency or publicity though
Ozhegov dictionary explains гласность as - *Открытая* и полная информация всего населения о любой общественно значимой деятельности и возможность её свободного и широкого обсуждения. (*Open* and full information of all the population about any socially significant activity and the possibility of its free and wide discussion).
Yefremova dictionary - доступность, *открытость* как одна из черт подлинной демократии. (access, *openness* as one of the genuine features of a democracry)
So I think the translation of 'openness' is not incorrect. I don't think 'transparency' (прозрачность) is quite the same as 'гласность'. The stem of the word from Old Russian 'гласъ' being related to 'voice' (голос) implies giving voice to something or speaking openly.
This is a good video to learn about the history of GDR
Excellent work,Wolf. Will you create uploads about Gunter Schabowski and Egon Krenz?
I can do that!
Ditto for Krenz.
What a bastard! Thanks for making this vid.
He was a good friend.
bro knew him
@@nikitakhrushchev8316 Indeed I did.
He was a good coworker, and an even better comrade.
You should keep doing video's about lesser known Nazis because all the well known ones are all over RUclips and you won't get many views from them.
Video on Egon?
2:38 blue meth moment
Never knew Waltuh was leader of East Germany bravo Vince
He is still alive working for the Biden administration
A great man
On contrary - A midget of a man and I
feel bad for insult short People with that description.
👍👍
If you had somebody in your class who became politically before even
hitting puberty, you're probably not surprised he turned out to be such an ...
There is a special place in hell for him.
No such place unless you live on this side.
HELL IS REAL 👹🤮👎
I used to think it would have been nice, had he received
at least some punishment, but dying a common man
in a far away place was probably a worse punishment than giving him the satisfaction of feeling like an important martyrer in German prison.
Biden will be joining him
