They used to have an Eastern Outdoors show at the Pennsylvania Farm Show building in Harrisburg, PA. There was a company there making the bottom half of an amphibious vehicle like the Argo. They use one sheet of material. It gets heated and vacuum formed in a vacuum mold. Then they put the formed body in a jig and drilled the holes for the axles. Those 8 wheeled amphibious vehicles used to be really popular in Central PA back in the 70's You hardly ever see them anymore.
I have a Recreation Industries Max 4 6x6,,, loads of fun and function,,,, used a lot in the flood of 2011 and 16 as a means to get home owners in and out,, of their properties, I can haul 4 adults or 6 children, and can tow up to 3000lbs,, free advice,,, invest in a couple of boat paddles, a folding camp shovel, and a winch
@@seanschuler1700 yeah me neither. I found out when I saw it was for sale on a marketplace. The brand is johnsson&evinrude. I'm actually documenting the build on my yt chnnel if you bother looking it up :)
now i have too start working on mine .. it's a 6 wheeler .my tub is a one piece ..missing all the chain ,tires and rims no engine . no seats or engine hood .. good video ,, mine will have a snowmobile engine ,
Shoot, I can't complain about two sprockets and one chain after seeing you slog through all those! Great project. Cool to hear about the Finnegan collab.
Red beard my scrambler is a lot like that Argo you are the man to put it back together It’s been sitting for over 30 years but I still have all the parts and pieces I’ve got a grandson coming hi is how I want it for I got it for my daughter never could put it together help me out red beard PLEASE
Those 8 dimples holding the seal in place is factory. It was Argo`s way of grabbing cash when it came time to replace seals, they made you buy the whole housing. The newer design double seal at least you have a second chance at changing seals but its still designed to be a throw away..
Next time go to an industrial bearing and drive shop to get the bearings, sprokets or chains. There's no sense in paying that outrageous price premium. I live near Chattanooga TN and get my bearings from Chattanooga bearings and drive. I've been able to get bearings there anywhere from tiny R/C car when bearings all the way up to a huge multi taper self centering roller bearing about a foot in diameter. Bearings that are around the size that you would need for your machine only cost somewhere in the neighborhood of 15 to 20 dollars a piece. I'm here to tell ya, that company has saved me a small fortune allowing me to avoid the price hike of part suppliers. They usually are of higher quality than you would get from a parts warehouse. All their bearings are either made in the USA NSK or high quality made in Japan.
I love red beard , but apparently there is one dislike....I bet if God himself made videos, people would be like..."I think that is just to much Love"...and "no one is that happy"
i wouldnt be surprised if the dislikes are because he says "god bless" on every video. im not religious, but him saying that doesnt bother me a bit because that's his thing. im here for the crazy cool built logs, and for that: LIKE
You know when you binge watch a series and all the sudden they stop making episodes for it; but two years later they start the project again but you can't even really get excited because you're in a straitjacket in a mental Asylum painting the walls with your own feces?
Lol xD I remember the time you bought this and made the first video, I wondered when the next part will be uploaded. Never thought it would be that late ;)
I can tell you firsthand those bearings and seals are outrageous from Argo..I did mine a few years ago, the chains I found locally..now it needs a Predator 22hp..
Great to see the argo being saved, could have saved yourself a lot of cleaning rust, by using Apple cider vinegar, soak for 24hours and hey presto no rust..
Red beard, I just found you guys thanks to an ACL surgery recovery. I’ll be riding the couch for a while. I’m researching Argos and they seem slow at 20mph. I can’t seem to find anyone that has hot rodded one.....Then there’s you guys supercharging V-twins. You’ve got to supercharge the Argo (because no-one else is doing it) You also mentioned you’re looking to sell it and here’s me looking to buy one. How can I get ahold of you guys to start that conversation? Thanks for what you’re doing,
Hey RB, I was wondering if you knew where I could purchase 301cc hemi predator valve retainers? I can't seem to find any anywhere. I lost count of how many times I ordered some that I thought were it, but ended up being for the 212cc. Or if you have a parts motor that I could possibly purchase from you? I dont mean too be a bother. If you have the time too even read this, I would be truly grateful. Thank you for your time.
i had a brand new jetwash exactly like that blow a big hole out of the block, filling my employees leg with a big chunk of shrapnel, your lucky the engine died outside neglected

Redbeard and Finnegan, match made in heaven!!

Collab with Finnegan's garage? Awesome! He's one of those people who is famous, but still seems really grounded.
Very cool I don’t see opposed twin engines used much! They are very unique. God bless!
They're awesome! I'm bulding a racing lawnmower with a 2stroke opposed twin 😄
@@John_Makes that’s awesome! What brand is the engine? I haven’t heard of many two stroke opposed twins

This this is ridiculously awesome, can’t wait to see how it runs!! All that stuff buried in there it’s sure a labor of love!
Can't Wait See You At Finnegan's. Keep Up The Cool Builds
those chain tensioners are really cool, a very clever design keeping that thing going
Great Argo videos, good help for me with such an old Argo too in Germany.❤
Awesome collaboration... Have been a roadkill fan from the beginning and as such a Finnegan Garage fan too.
Shoot, I can't complain about two sprockets and one chain after seeing you slog through all those! Great project.
Cool to hear about the Finnegan collab.
Great work on the resto Red!
Fantastic video
It’s been 25 years since I’ve seen
an Argo 8x8
Your video brings back great memories of wrenching on fun toys.
Love my argo I've owned one for 15 years
Keep up the great work! I try to do this, just on a smaller scale :)
You've got me back watching, now don't screw it up! I can't stand it when things are sidelined like this. But, I'm a loyal fan.
That's so kewl.I've never seen Finnegan walk and chew gum,so he'll probably find a way to sink this.
yeah pretty much any project with mike involved gets entertaining in the oddest ways. i follow his garage channel

I did the bearings in our Argo 6 x 6 big foot I would pack those bearings with synthetic grease
Had an Argo years ago. Sort of go anywhere but incredibly slow on both land and water. Constant new leaks are just a fact of ownership.
Sick guys love that eight wheeler. Great vid can't wait for part two here downunder...john...Australia...😎😎
Vxb bearings is where I order mine from!
Ever think of getting a sand blasting cabinet?
for good operation of the external bearings, a fixation on the shaft is required!

I get all my bearings, chains, inner 4 hole flanges and seals from the farm supply store down the road.
Here in Pennsylvania i go to place called "bearings, belts and chains...." All japanese good bearings and way cheaper than anywhere else i found
You outta find an old coot!!!

I thought from the thumbnail you were converting an old bathtub INTO an Argo!!
I can tell you firsthand those bearings and seals are outrageous from Argo..I did mine a few years ago, the chains I found locally..now it needs a Predator 22hp..
Upgrade the engine!!!
3:33 one spark and you got a problem
Nice! Do you have a working promo code for generator factory outlet? RBG does not work anymore.

Lmao your British is pretty damn good hahaha😂
Anyone pick up on If Finnegan wants to change anything on it, near the end. So sounds like Finn is going to be the new owner?
I have an M18 Kohler motor it doesn't know weather it is a bike or a lawnmower.
You know FSM is gonna put a V8 on it and rip it across the lake
