Excellent description of how to follow the grain. I can see how to cut with the grain when turning a bowl. Like the other gentleman said, I will watch this several times to make sure I am cutting in the correct direction.

I've never seen anyone, including paid professional turners, explain grain "fundamentals" as well as you. Many thanks. Stevio

Thanks Walter, a very useful and informative video. I have been turning for three years and can't be reminded too often about the issues you covered. Thanks again for sharing I like your style of instructing its so easy to follow.

Thank you Walt! This video helped me more with Bowl Turning than any other I've seen so far!!

Excellent advice. I just tried to turn my first bowl and went in the unsupported direction; which explains why it was so rough!

Thanks Walter, I'm a complete noobee. Not long received my new lathe. Watched loads of vids on turning and got bit confused about uphill and down hill cutting. You cleared up a lot of headaches for me. appreciated..keep them coming.

Great video Walter. I'm a GnuBee turner and I've watched a number of instructional vids over the past months. This is one of the best. Very good explanation of whys and why nots.

Excellent, Walt. I think I will incorporate turning a small bowl from a 2x4 pine square into my basic bowl turning instruction. Looks like the fastest way for a student to understand cutting with the grain on a bowl.
