I honestly feel like people were staring at Kenny more because he was a man with makeup on. Maybe you should try the experiment again without him because the attention was more towards him and plus you had someone following you and filming
I live in the same town as the twins and they’ve been on our local news and in local magazines so people do know them, just not older people. I will also say I had purple hair and I was judged quite a lot. Having piercings too. I even had a woman confront me and tell me I should hide my tattoos because it’s indecent for children’s eyes to see. It’s bad. Also I’m 100% sure Kenny and the camera confused people a lot and garnered a lot of attention. If she could somehow do a secret camera or Kenny filming from far away or something.
Honestly, I feel like they were looking at Kenny and not at you. Most people aren’t used to seeing a boy wearing makeup, especially in a conservative town as you described it, and give them weird looks because of it (sadly). His make up looked good, but like people are going to stare at the two people who are different and vibrant on the outside and also with vibrant personalities. Some of us just carry auras where we attract people to stare and look , maybe for a little bit longer. I’m trying to take it as a compliment that I’m turning heads and creating people to talk wether it’s bad or good. But I Also do not look at someone with different hair color and think “I don’t want my kids to do that to their hair” I am probably looking at you thinking “gosh I wish I was that cute and young again and could pull off that hair color” Stop being so hard on yourself. Regardless of what color your hair is you are still adorable.

When I see someone with fashion colored hair, I usually do take an extra look. Same as someone with a beautiful balayage or icy hair or red hair (which I have). I think it’s just me looking to see how well they do it, sometimes it looks amazing, sometimes it doesn’t. I guess I’m just admiring, and I love color theory so just like someone with bright eyeshadow, I’m curious to see if it goes with their skin tone.

You were walking around next to a boy wearing very bright makeup. That unfortunately gets judged very easily and people were most likely staring at him and glancing at your pretty hair color. Your hair color will yes attract attention but his makeup will attract more especially in the area you are in. Both of you looked fabulous in the video though.
Tala and Zahras world jaber: I have colored hair (it's purple) and I get a lot of compliments, I very rarely get negative comments. My male friend who was very openly feminine wore platform boots, bright makeup, and drag queen shirts frequently at school and was always judged and stared at. My comment was to show Niki that her hair wasn't always the reason why people stared or glanced. Whenever I was with my friend people always stared at him then glanced to me since I was with him. His makeup looked great and her hair is so pretty but in that type of area his makeup wouldn't be as appreciated by certain people.

Perfect example of social anxiety at the beginning (I’m not hating, I legit deal with this too) but when she had her “normal hair” on and the girl forgot to give her the card back, Niki thought it was because she blended in so well that the girl “forgot about her”. I work at Dunkin and we usually have to hand out the drinks first while the card is processing because it takes a while. The girl probably just didn’t want Niki to drive off without it, (the card is usually the last thing you hand out). That whole interaction literally had nothing to do with Niki as a person. Also just a tip to anyone reading this, when ordering a drink at a coffee place, always say the size first. Otherwise everything you say after that is useless because they don’t know which cup to write on 🤷🏻♀️ I just figured I’d mention it because she did it twice in this video 😂

omg, i wanna tell u a story that's related to this a little bit. so i have this friend named jaliyah and whenever she hears a song that she knows she would sing it out loud in public and i would always ask her, "aren't you embarrassed?" and she would say no and i would always think in my head "why don't i sing in public?" and now that i've watched this video, i think i don't sing in public because i think other people would judge me or i think that people would be waiting for my voice to crack or something like that and jaliyah doesn't think that, she thinks that no one would judge her no matter how bad her voice is. when she sings, i would kinda act like i don't know her beacuse i thought she was embarrassing me but now i think other people think that i have a fun friendship with jaliyah and they might be jealous and want a friend like her. and now.. i sing my lungs out in public with jaliyah. :) (thank u for reading if u did read
Most of the people who "stared" at the mall weren't even looking at her. They were looking at whoever was filming. Which natural when you're in a public place and you see someone being followed around by a camera... This probably would have been better executed with a body camera. I'm glad she talked about her mental health at the end because I can totally relate to it (I have ocd, anxiety, and had an ed). It's good she was able to look at this objectively.

Though i loved the concept of this video, i feel as though a few things were looked over. 1) Your blue hair, which i think is ADORABLE, is uncommon in your hometown versus in Cali. Thats why people stare, make comments and act a certain way. It is not the norm for them. 2) Walking through the mall; not only is your hair an uncommon color from what they are generally use to, but you have to look at the person you were with. (No hate or offense in ANY WAY) What i am saying is, in more conservative areas, people are not use to seeing males in full on makeup. (Loved the eyeshadow color btw) So therefore it was a mixture of things that warranted the people’s reaction. Also, the camera may catch a little attention.
But not many people actually stared. Or commented anything negative. The main point of the video is to point out that these things are in your head. Everyone is too concerned with their own issues to be commenting on what someone else looks like

I live in Georgia and I have blue hair. For me, it makes me a lot more confident in who I am. If someone has a problem with MY HAIR, that is their decision. It’s not on their head nor does my hair color hurt anyone around me. If you are happy with yourself, people (for the most part) will be happy to be around you as well. Stay confident loves 🤗💙

I’m 29, live in Southern California about 50 miles south of LA. I have a 10 year old daughter and live in a pretty nice neighborhood. The only time I ever really feel judged is at her school. Luckily there seems to be many small business owners in my particular area and they are pretty accepting of my alternative style. However, quite a few of the older folks (women in particular) at the school seem to look me down for it. Oh well. Outside of that, I get so many compliments about my blue hair. So many! If people don’t approve, they’ve never really made a comment about it to me.

Tala and Zahras world jaber: I have colored hair (it's purple) and I get a lot of compliments, I very rarely get negative comments. My male friend who was very openly feminine wore platform boots, bright makeup, and drag queen shirts frequently at school and was always judged and stared at. My comment was to show Niki that her hair wasn't always the reason why people stared or glanced. Whenever I was with my friend people always stared at him then glanced to me since I was with him. His makeup looked great and her hair is so pretty but in that type of area his makeup wouldn't be as appreciated by certain people.

Perfect example of social anxiety at the beginning (I’m not hating, I legit deal with this too) but when she had her “normal hair” on and the girl forgot to give her the card back, Niki thought it was because she blended in so well that the girl “forgot about her”. I work at Dunkin and we usually have to hand out the drinks first while the card is processing because it takes a while. The girl probably just didn’t want Niki to drive off without it, (the card is usually the last thing you hand out). That whole interaction literally had nothing to do with Niki as a person. Also just a tip to anyone reading this, when ordering a drink at a coffee place, always say the size first. Otherwise everything you say after that is useless because they don’t know which cup to write on 🤷🏻♀️ I just figured I’d mention it because she did it twice in this video 😂

Most of the people who "stared" at the mall weren't even looking at her. They were looking at whoever was filming. Which natural when you're in a public place and you see someone being followed around by a camera...

Though i loved the concept of this video, i feel as though a few things were looked over.
1) Your blue hair, which i think is ADORABLE, is uncommon in your hometown versus in Cali. Thats why people stare, make comments and act a certain way. It is not the norm for them.
2) Walking through the mall; not only is your hair an uncommon color from what they are generally use to, but you have to look at the person you were with. (No hate or offense in ANY WAY)
What i am saying is, in more conservative areas, people are not use to seeing males in full on makeup. (Loved the eyeshadow color btw)
So therefore it was a mixture of things that warranted the people’s reaction.
Also, the camera may catch a little attention.
But not many people actually stared. Or commented anything negative. The main point of the video is to point out that these things are in your head.

I’m 29, live in Southern California about 50 miles south of LA. I have a 10 year old daughter and live in a pretty nice neighborhood. The only time I ever really feel judged is at her school. Luckily there seems to be many small business owners in my particular area and they are pretty accepting of my alternative style. However, quite a few of the older folks (women in particular) at the school seem to look me down for it. Oh well. Outside of that, I get so many compliments about my blue hair. So many! If people don’t approve, they’ve never really made a comment about it to me.

Niki I have severe anxiety too and I relate so much it’s unreal to making up things in my head. I feel at all times people are always talking about me and looking at me in a negative way. I overthink so much to the point I believe it. It’s awful. I get myself so overwhelmed to the point I’ll lash out. Finally someone who actually gets it and understands. I have poor self esteem because of being overweight so that makes me feel like I’m always being judged and talked about even though I’m probably not. Thank you so much for making this video ❤️
