Man you guys dont get enough credit for what you do. Im wondering what city that is in that still uses alleys for trash pick up. I currently work for a company that shares a road with gfl off of hoover. Are you out of that yard?
I was until May of this year. Now I work for car Trucking in Ferndale. This video is Grosse Pointe Park though! Yeah I know lol my buddy told me you worked out of the coil place haha

Trash trucks get put through a lot of abuse and many collection companies choose to not repaint their fleet or even maintain them because of cost. The older a garbage truck is the rustier it will be because the amount of work it is put through , the liquid that is in garbage bins is very nasty and will cause rust overtime and anything hitting the paintwork will chip it off and expose the steel to the weather and the gross garbage juice.
