I like how in Hero La Kill, Ryuko helps Izuku become more confident and Izuku helps Ryuko become more compassionate than their respective canon selves. And it’s scenes like this that show the end result of that journey where Izuku confidently voices his opinion without stammering (as much) and Ryuko is able to be more playful and teasing. It’s pure wholesomeness.
What I love about this little crossover is how natural it feels. Each installment takes the time necessary to flesh out their characterization and how they interact with one another. So their love for one another doesn't feel forced, but a slow burn that builds up over time into something genuine while also staying true to their canon personalities. This is literally a different take on how'd they grow around one another if their universes were shared.
If I had to say about this Audio Dub, it feels like a distant memory [Vigilantly Flashback] of when things were simpler and more precious. Now we go to the future, where we see a disheveled Izuku looking at a cracked window, the building shattered, reminiscing the beautiful moment, only to be shaken, looking at a chipped glass as he considers himself his hero outfit covered in dried blood, grim and dirt and rugged. His eyes no longer shine with innocence, just exhausted as he keeps moving forward, only wanting to protect not only his friends but Ryuko too after seeing her recovering from a horrible incident, making him rage, wanting nothing more than to find the culprit who hurt what he loved most. Yet her smile and warmth kept coming into his mind, yet he pushed it down, consumed with suppressed rage, and wanted nothing else but to quench its rage. But honestly, I love how wholesome this audio dub is. It just shows, maybe a few months after announcing their love to each other, that they are growing not as a couple but as partners. Supporting each other with the simple gestures of changing hairstyles and how they are having fun is also a nice touch. I never thought Izuku might have a neck exposure [My Dress Up Darling References]. I am glad to see this coming out. Thank you, Aduubo, for another excellent Audio Dub with your artwork, too, of course, with the additional help from Jojo_Banzai, who loved their artwork.
