In this video probably more than any other Metallica lesson so far, I really contest the common tabs out there. I think the tabs that we've taken for granted are mistaken and I'm aiming to set the record straight in this lesson. Also note that in recent years Hetfield has moved his intro harmony down a string set when playing live so he now starts on the 11th and 12th frets of G. Live footage can be seen of him playing it both ways but my video is true to the original way that he performed it. Thanks for watching! Now get ready for more Metallica as I go through their entire catalogue. You don't want to miss any of these epic tutorials that cover every lick and riff in complete tab. Let me know what Metallica track gets your vote for a tutorial. Be sure to like and subscribe ruclips.net/user/timholman You're a star! 🤘🔥🎸
Wow Tim. I'm positive no one on RUclips has gone into this much detail teaching just about any tune. This should be the definitive lesson on this tune. Amazing.
The fact that you have the will to offer content like this for free is something I respect deeply. I have subscribed and will do my part in watching your videos. Thank you, and god speed.
Thanks for the sub! I appreciate the comment. A lot of work goes into these videos and I'm always happy to hear that they're helpful. Thanks for watching! 👍🍻
I like that you dig into what they're doing and really pull out more of how it actually sounds on the album. You're right - many erroneous tabs out there on the market....and they're sold commercially - it boggles my mind. You're a great teacher and player man!!
These are classis riffs for sure! I think I definitely covered all of it. Part of the reason it's so long is that I also went over the harmony guitar parts in the solo.
Hi Tim, this is a very thorough video, I have to schedule breaking the views in chunks, I'm particularly interested in the solo (if I can pull it off) . Those wanting to learn the song will find this upload a gem!
Hi Tim, first of all I love your Kiesel guitar. I listened to the first part of the video, great tutorial my friend. I will store so I can learn those riffs when I have more time... Keep on rocking bro! Bert
He Tim, very nice tut. I really want to know what the set up/your gear is precisely, I love your sound! Which humbuckers, what amp etc. Thanks in advance! Keep up the good work!

@@TimHolman love the extra live details...think about adding what licks in the solos go along with which rhythm riffs, where the new lick starts in relation to the riff, that extra detail would be enormous! Eg Creeping Death, the trill along the D string, you mention 2 measures but a little extra that it corresponds to the first 2 measures of the pre chorus riff then the next licks take up the 3rd and 4th, aiming to hit the 14D at start of chorus etc... I could play the whole solo, but when I played with the song I was getting lost, I mapped out the solo to aim to hit key notes at the start of certain riffs helped a lot... Would certainly be a point of difference, no one talks about how the solo relates to the underlying rhythm parts... Keep up the good work, hope that makes sense...
Yes, that makes sense. I will see what info I can provide like this. If I can get it in logically then I'll definitely do so. I just need to keep the videos a somewhat reasonable length. It has given me an idea for perhaps a side series though. I'll see what I can do. Thanks for the suggestion! All feedback is great. 🤘🔥
Thanks! I have some tabs available but I don't think this is one of them. It's been a progression of making my videos better and I started offering tabs shortly after this video. It's my goal to offer all tabs and once I get enough time I'll go back and make the older lessons available.
I've been getting a lot of requests for Black Album stuff so I'll probably be getting to those a bit early for you. So far I've been going in album order. Got a couple of requests to get to on Ride The Lightning first though. 🤘🔥
Oh yeah!! That's awesome thanks for replying to my comment I was skeptical to a response I really appreciate you, man. Looking forward to the next video

It's interesting that you're hearing something different there. Out of all the licks, that one. Lol. My tab is right though. There wouldn't be much point teaching the song if everything was wrong. Are you listening to the album version? Live, they're always tuned down now at least half a step and sometimes a whole step. Also, he never quite plays it the same way live as it was on the album. Here's a link to the isolated solo. ruclips.net/video/cK_Paxhazbc/видео.html Without the rhythm guitar, drums and bass it's much easier to hear exactly what's going on.
