A great sounding solo with a true narrative that really builds to a musical climax. Not a difficult solo to play by any means, but a very inspired solo. You can tell that Kirk put time into crafting it.
That was an awesome solo. It’s too advanced for me. I have learned the Flight of Icarus solo lessons from your videos. Thanks. Really appreciate the work you do for us.
Hard to do up to speed. Stop saying it’s easy in the comments because doing it up to speed is hard. And y’all that are calling it hard can’t even do it so shut up
It's actually quite easy once you learn all the notes. Simply commit all the notes to memory and then work on getting it up to speed. Shouldn't take more than a few hours of practice
Je comprends pas pourquoi je découvre ta page juste maintenant… les meandres de RUclips En tout cas c’est impressionnant le boulot qu’il faut pour sortir des solos comme ça bravo
@@Samford_ I can pretty much play it at real speed, but like 15% slower than the original (I play almost every day but sunday, were I let my finger rest)
Google economy picking. That helped me with increasing speed. First play scales with economy picking. Sweep picking Will help with movement of pick across all 6 strings. Always use a metronome, practice bends separately. When practicing scales spend most of the time at 50 to 75 percent of your current max speed.
Bro I have so much respect for overall your cover but especially for playing two string arpeggios with sweeps!hey guys does anyone knows if Kirk plays them with sweeps?🤭
Thanks. I have no idea if Kirk plays it like that. When I first leant this solo many years ago, I didn't play the arpeggios with sweep. But when I re-learnt it with sweep, I realised it was actually easier to get the speed and a tight playing.
@@nathanp8240 wow, I thought you were crazy for this comment at first, but I went to fact check your ass….and you are right….I watched a few live videos and he’s alternating, not sweeping. Mind blowing.

what I find difficult about this solo and a lot of solos in general is muting the strings. can anyone share any tips and trick or share some sort of comprehensive guide when it comes to muting strings while soloing? it'd be greatly appreciated.
I play : up, pull-off, down, down. So there's a sweep from B string to E string. And it's not a dumb question at all as the first way I learnt this part, I used to play : up, pull-off, up, down (so alternate picking between B and E string). I changed the way to play it and now I use a sweep because I think it's much easier to play it fast that way and also the playing is tighter.
@@StephLeGratteux 0:33 before it goes to the other part. Originally kirk does hammer on and pull offs. So you played it wrong with the 22 22 19 19. But anyways you fucking nailed it!👍
@@schimschi I don't know why I wrote it like that as it was much easier to play 22 pull-off 19 3 times in a row. Maybe a mistake when I wrote the tab and then I didn't re-listen to this part before practising. Anyway nobody plays these solos notes for notes :D
Definitly one of Kirk's best solos.. at age 21😱

Yeah! Kirk was very inspired back then!
I'm 22 and I still struggle with the solo. Thanks to thus video for the proper lesson
Me learning this solo hitting 50. 😂

You can definitely hear some Johann Sebastian Bach influence at the end of the solo. Reminiscent of that harmony in Toccata and Fugue.

Palm muting. While you’re picking, put your palm on the strings you aren’t playing. If all else fails, try looking up a video on it
As pacaspascal6986 said, it's all in the palm muting. So your right hand need to be always very close to the strings
Nice music 🎶

Does anyone else hear the Gravity Falls theme at 4:09 or am I the youngest person to remember that show😂
yup, your right
Imagine knowing that off by heart
There are harder pieces of classical music and folk memorise them. They memorise entire operas that are five hours long etc.
Just learn them in sections until it sinks in
