It's amazing this was just five years after The Beatles made their premiere on The Ed Sullivan Show -- in that short time this and dozens of other songs they had written had already become standards. While I was anxious about watching this (fearing the worst), Joel Grey performs this absolutely perfectly. I'd imagine this is the sort of performance young Paul envisioned taking place on a West End stage when he dreamed of writing musicals in his pre-Beatles days.

This is surprisingly really good, I love how he's basically doing this in character as the Cabaret emcee!

Joel always gives a great performance! I love the set and costumes! I like how he doesn't just sing this song, but plays a character while doing so. I hope you will also post his great George M medley on here someday which is a real show-stopper! Thank you for this video!

It is never a cakewalk to cover a Beatles Song. And, this number was quite noteable on the greatest album of all time - "Sargeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". Joel Grey nails this, and, he actually makes the song 'his'. What a treasure we have in Joel Grey.

A true monster of the scene and a living legend of musical theater. He is one of the few actors who have won Tony and Oscar for the same role (unforgettable as Emcee in Cabaret)...

My introduction to Joel Grey was actually through a movie character that fooled my 80's childhood!
    A gem from 1985 titled...
    REMO WILLIAMS: THE ADVENTURE BEGINS.
You're probably thinking: THAT ACTION FILM WITH FRED WARD? WHERE WAS JOEL GREY? I DON'T REMEMBER SEEING HIM IN THAT!
Actually, he played a role that wouldn't happen in today's entertainment world. Remember Chiun, the Korean martial arts teacher? Yup, that's Joel Grey in yellowface. Food for thought...😂❤

People on the Ed Sullivan sang a song, live before an audience. Today, there's a lot of dubbing and voice alterations with electronic devices.

Meanwhile that same year, in Cielo Dr. California, Manson’s followers write in blood on one of Polanski’s walls “Helter Skelter” after their horrific crime. And Joe Cocker covers “With A Little Help from my Friends” in Woodstock Festival as a celebration of peace, love and understanding among people of all colors, age or religion. The Beatles: the greatest band over the world.

What's this "When I get older losing my hair" jazz? I turned 64 last year and I still have all my hair and nary a grey. Maybe it's because I still listen to rock and roll everyday. "Doing the garden, digging the weeds, who could ask for more?" How about me? Digging weeds sucks.

Delightful 1967 song which reflects the versatility of the writers influence and range of thought. Quite interesting cover of the song. I love it. Ed Sullivan was an incredible show and I’m reminded of this almost daily with the release of these performances.

He didn't even sing the lyrics correctly.....😮
