This story arc is some of the best television ever made. Everyone was absolutely at the top of the game. A lot of shit recently has made a lot of people wonder how to view cops in cop shows from now on, but we can still revel in the peerless storytelling and its execution here.
This was really the beginning of Andy's rise back up to the light. The moment he finally asked for help and became fully aware of just what was important in his life. From this point forward, Andy builds.
So true, it hurts. The pride falls down and the help is requested. Very hard but a necessity for alcoholics. These actors were blessed to be in such a finely written and character- driven show. So were we to watch them every season for 12 years.
@@LydiaHarper1019 And Medavoy came through in a couple clutch, life or death situations too. Stand up guy. I also remember w He wouldn't start anything physical with the other woman, till he at least moved out of the House. Not a Saint but decent guy.
2:10 I admit, I can't help but get a little misty eyed when Andy asks for help. speaking from personal experience(recovering alcoholic among other things), asking for help is both the hardest and the bravest thing someone can do when they've hit rock bottom. and as the title says, it's all up from there
This was the greatest moment in the greatest cop show ever. Nowhere else have I ever seen human frailty and generosity so movingly presented. Absolutely the best writing and acting.
I can't recall any other time Andy asked anyone else in the show to please help me except for Bobby. Honestly I don't think any other partner was better for Andy than Bobby
The conversation between Bobby and Andy was a Big Moment in the Series. It was definitely a Turning Point for Andy that led to his life looking Up again. Bobby really saved him in this situation. The Doc was a young Bosch.
I am not the least bit religious, but this moment and a few others in the series seem to have a touch of divine intervention through Simone, and it is very moving.
Andy's lucky that he had a boss that somewhat covered his ass on this incident..otherwise Andy would've been fired and those black guys would've probably been found not guilty of this assault cause Andy was drunk and provoked them to a fight if this was to go to court.
Shannon was a stand-up cop. He had a good relationship with the D's of the 15th, especially with Bobby. Not like that jerk Laughlin, that went up against Dt. Clark a few years later (Clark cleaned his clock AFTER a low blow). And let's not forget one of our favorite jerks, Lt. Fraker messing with Lt. Rodrigez (but Andy straightened him out). And Medavoy....you know he was kinda like the little odd guy in a room full of giants, but you know, he always came through. I'm glad he was there for Andy when he was needed. Andy respected him. Let's talk about Andy...wow...this was really hard for him on several levels; He looses his kid, he get's kicked out by Sylvia (rightly so), then he gets his butt kicked (ouch! 2 busted ribs!), and then he has to swallow his pride, admit he was wrong and that he has no clue where to go from there, and then to "man-up" and ask for help. I'm grateful that Bobby was there for Andy, and that he had the right words to tell Andy, and to get him to see he needed help. Good thing Lt. Fancy was a stand up boss and finally, Andy had to sober up and go ask Sylvia to forgive him. Would that all of us would have friends like Medavoy, Shannon, Bobby and Lt. Fancy, and a good woman in his life to forgive him and accept him back. Great clip!!! Keep up the good work.
This series is so addictive....

Just like he did for Clark in season 12, when his behavior was reminiscent of Andy's behavior back in the earlier seasons.
Great scene as always these two were so good together

I like how Medavoy is just waiting to help his friend
Andy and Greg were the only two characters who lasted all 12 seasons.
Medavoy is a good man.

Titus Welliver as the Doc.

Unfortunately it's even hard for a lot of _Non-alcoholics_ to ask for help. So I can't even imagine.
That moment was a punch in the gut. Good on you.
Amen to that...I reached out to my cousin who was sober awhile she told me go to AA ..I surrendered to win

the way Andy said "Please..."
it breaks your heart
These two were best friends and Partners.
These clips have me salivating for full episodes. Thanks a million for posting them.
Best acting duo, EVER
This is one of the greatest scenes
agreed
Love love love this show!!
Shannon..knew right from wrong .Always stood up for right even if it was not straight away
I can't recall any other time Andy asked anyone else in the show to please help me except for Bobby. Honestly I don't think any other partner was better for Andy than Bobby
Man Bobby hit him with the brutally cold hard facts that only a real friend will do.
Now that’s a true friend.
That "Please help me..." was absolutely heart breaking.
The hardest words an alcoholic can say for the first time....please help me.
Andy needed to hear that
I always liked Shannon. He was a standup guy for the unit.

I love this show I have them all on DVD lol
Damn! That show was good.
The very definition of grace. Good people make mistakes. They're not evil. and they deserve second chances.

I like at the end of the scene it's not only Bobby, but also medavoy who Andy trusts with this.

Andy realizing that he needed help.
Dr. Bosch, I presume?!
The only time we ask for help rock bottom to recovery one day at a time
Shannon was always a sound cop.
That please help me, from Andy gets me everytime!
medavoy got no love
The season's with Jimmy Smitts was the best of the show .
@JARED BARATTA That escalated quickly...
@JARED BARATTA get some help
@JARED BARATTA Along with manners. Goats have better manners. Seriously, the toxic words coming out of you would make a billy goat puke.
Not sure but I think the ER Doc is Titus Welliver who has gone on to play Harry Bosch.
You are 100% correct.
Same doc when Andy Jr was killed, right?
@@Homer554 Yes, Dr. Mondzac! He appeared in eight episodes in all, during seasons three and five.
Jesus bloody hell, that guy aged horribly!

I enjoy what you wrote here, Joe S. You are, indeed, a true "Blue"👮 fan of the series. 😉🤟
Best shows ever.
Poor Andy
Damn look at young Harry Bosch
Dr Bosch
his is what I don't like about cops.
That ER doctor is a bad M F'er.
