This was the period when NYPD Blue was really firing on all cylinders. The cast was perfect, the writing tight and intense, every actor on his A-game. Must-see TV would have been pale as a description for these seasons.
Loved the episode where they went full bore boxing in the bathroom. A following episode they respected each other. People grow. Best Cop show ever made.
Most would disagree with me, but the real world needs cops like Sipowicz. Sipowicz had his own internal struggles. He obviously had PTSD. He would smack a perp around when they deserved it, and he NEVER forgot about the people who were victims or why he wore the badge. Dennis Franz is a legend.
Most would probably agree with you. There's a time and a place for cops like Sipowicz. I'm left leaning and generally can't stand cops but I'm a realist first. Some people are what they are and need to be met on the same level. This murdering turd didn't get beat enough.
A lot of people would never see justice for their loved ones if it wasn’t for cops like sipowicz, And by god wouldn’t we all want Andy In the room if it was our loved one.
" ...and putting the pieces of his body into garbage bags! " What a line reading from Franz! It's not a mystery why some people become crazed having to deal with the savagery of human atrocities.
I watched NYPD Blue and Law & Order OG during my middle school years and as a South Georgia boy I wanted to live in gritty NYC and solve crimes like Sipowicz and Brisco. Little did I know by the time I would get to visit after 4 years in the Army that Times Square would have an M&M’s store instead of an S&M one 🤦🏼
@@BrotherDerrick3X yep. Officers in his time were issued revolvers. Of course as time progressed so did the firearm. But those that had time on and were issued revolvers could still use them as their service revolver. I knew alot of old times like that.
FANCY'S comment you probably were not beaten enough. outstanding writing & said perfectly. awesome series. nothing on tv now that comes close to that show.
He "resisted arrest", so he was restrained. His injuries are a reflection on how much he "resisted". He was lucky he stopped resisting or he might have got what he really deserved.
You know things aren't likely to go your way after two cops tell you you haven't been beaten enough, especially when one of them was the one who beat you, and the other is his boss!
While I don't know the origin of the idea that led to this scene, I do know that many of the crimes portrayed were taken directly from real cases in NYC. Whether inspired by real events or not, the writers nailed the self-centered arrogance and sense of being victimized that some of these truly delusional murderers feel. This guy, like some real killers, truly felt he had done no wrong and had been beaten for no reason.
Wouldn’t fly today, if only because of the cameras they have installed in the interrogation rooms. But Andy did what he needed to do in his time. Behind that gruff exterior was a heart of gold, and he always had the victims close to heart
I dunno what you all are talking about. The guy resisted, I saw it, yup. And attempted to obstruct the investigation by interfering with evidence. Attempted to evade arrest also. The detective should be commended for his restraint in dealing with a clearly very dangerous defendant and securing the evidential nature of the scene in a non lethal manner. Tea and medals and a new pool table for the night shift, I say.
Those were murder-shots. All aimed at bursting the thin high-pressure Renal Artery which causes death by internal bleeding: then it’s, “he fell down the stairs.” Successive punches and knees to the kidneys: a South African police-special, especially against carjackers. Andy knew his business.
I usually don't get emotionally invested in TV shows or movies because I know they're fiction...but there's something about this scene that gets me. Like it's SO satisfying watching this piece of shit get caught in the act and then getting a beating...but then I actually feel anger when like Andy and Fancy put it he's "not beaten enough".
What ep/series was this? Agreed looks like the sweet spot with Bobby and Andy’s contrasting raw humanity always bubbling and Greg etc coming into there own…
I don't think this is 4x22. I think it's 4x21, "Is Paris Burning." When you read the descriptions of "A Draining Experience," the season finale, it doesn't include this plotline. It's in the penultimate episode.
I don't support brutality when it's unwarranted. Here though? Here it was warranted. A testament to Andy is that I would have capped him where he stood while he still had blood on his hands. But that's why I'm not a cop. A rapist or child molester would never see the outside of a prison, and a murderer wouldn't make it there.
Really? U let an out of shape old man best u in a fight? Wow I hope the rest of the scum in prison don’t find out but then again he’s kicked everyone’s ass in there any way
If anyone knows out there in 2021 March any TV show that's worth watching such as this or even any other show worth watching please message me thank you
When he began to cuff the guy the actor playing the perp went ahead and put his free hand back up on his lower back in position to be cuffed.... It ruined the entire scene for me.
Skell-“I was beaten.”
Lt Fancy-“Probably not enough.” 🤣🤣🤣
When Fancy sides with Sipowicz... you're toast.
True. 🙂😎
Great line, had me falling out. 🤣
Fancy gave zero fucks he was beaten. Probably not enough lol. A great andy tune up.
Skel: If you're their boss, I was beaten.
Fancy: Probably not enough...

Couldn't agree more.
The show ages well. My favorite cop show.. I have wore out years 2 and 4 because I have watched them so much..
Right about that.
I like that Andy hit him in places that don't show. Just admiring the technique of this fictitious character.
Gary Wilder had no respect for the quality of craftsmanship he was receiving.
Andy and Fancy rarely agreed on things but this guy wasn't beaten enough

I still love when Andy told a perp (who beat his wife to death, I believe), "SHUT YOUR MOUTH OR I'LL BREAK YOUR JAW!"
No, I agree. Some criminals deserve to get their ass beat!

It's the delivery for me.
The best line and probably the best of the whole series… “ Hey if you’re their boss I was beaten..” “Probably not enough….” 🤣
“I was beaten”,
“Not really, we’ll put you in genpop so you can experience what being beaten is.”
Such a great clip butt the best moment was when Fancy said “ probably not enough”
“”I was beaten.” “PROBABLY NOT ENOUGH.”
You think you were beaten, huh, bub? Wait until you see what's gonna happen to you in prison. Getting beat will be the least of your problems.
Beep Beep
One of my favourite Fancy lines.
This show was awesome no filter straight drama and hard language, bless the squad
Franz and Smits had really good chemistry together.
Andy is OG knows how to beat a suspect in the right places and leave no visible marks a pro lol
"He can do it without leaving a mark. It's amazing."
--- Det. 3G John Clark Jr.
I mean dude will be pissing blood for a good week...
"I found him like that" as the guy literally washes the blood off of his hands... Wow...
Some people are just..
I'm against the death penalty but I am daily given excuses to rescind that belief.
What would the Stepfather's excuse be if the police walked in on him in that movie's infamous opening?
As close as Andy and Bobby were, Andy says “you shut up too” to Bobby. Bobby gets his boy. He was filled with rage.
If I remember correctly, they had an argument earlier in the episode about Bobby's dealings with the FBI
I watched NYPD Blue and Law & Order OG during my middle school years and as a South Georgia boy I wanted to live in gritty NYC and solve crimes like Sipowicz and Brisco. Andy and that short barrel revolver look like they go together. In age, stlye, and build.
And the short sleeve button-down 👔 My old man is EXACTLY the same way with his suits
Sipowicz is old school. He probably didn't want a Glock or any automatic.
@@BrotherDerrick3X yep. Officers in his time were issued revolvers. Of course as time progressed so did the firearm. But those that had time on and were issued revolvers could still use them as their service revolver. I knew alot of old times like that.
Kept his finger on the trigger the whole time...then during the fight his revolver disappeared
Smith and Wesson .38 special snubnose. Probably a model 36.
Man... I have to start a rewatch of this show again soon.
Gary Wilder: Hey, if you're their boss, I was beaten
Lieutenant Fancy: Probably not enough

Loved it when they gave Fancy lines like that.

This show was a key factor for the cameras being installed in police interrogation rooms.
For some reason, I really like the way Andy says “garbage bags.”
The cast was always great
“The way you govern stinks”
John Kelly
-I found him like this!
-They're gonna find your body in 27 pieces too
Fancy don't give 2 shits he was beaten.

Punish the suspect.
Arrest the suspect.
Uphold the law.

Probably Not Enough !!! All good things come to an end... including NYPD. What a show.
Sooooo well written.
"Getting caught red handed." Literally.
By far the best episode of Blue, imho of course.
What season and episode , I have all of them up to when Bobby Died

I just watched this episode last night on Amazon. The whole thing is great
First time seeing this scene ever! I’m taking acting notes from NYPD Blue
Andy Sipowicz=ABC version of Chicago PD’s Hank Voight
More like Chicago PD's Hank Voight = NBC version of Andy Sipowicz, being that Chicago PD came out 20 years after NYPD Blue.
It’s funny Dennis Franz was a Chicago guy playing a NY cop. Jason Beghe is a New Yorker playing a Chicago cop
I liked Fancy - He was a good guy.
I like the Ada. He's very well spoken..
Another actor who appeared in NYPD Blue and E.R.
Good thing Andy retired before bodycams became a thing. Yeah, Lieu! He was ummm, uhhh, resisting....
Andy even told Bobby to shut up. He must have been on a whole other level of pissed off.
😂😂😂 the one time andy and fancy agree on something lol 😂
Damned epic show
This is not the Finale 4x22 this is from the episode Is Paris Burning ... 4X22 is where Simone is suspended for his involvement joey salvo
Thank u i was wondering which season this was from
No wood shampoo, no beating.
Great quality clip,
Andy’s tune ups.
that guy did a great job of getting all the blood off his hands. when andy was beating him up not a drop of blood on his hands or
Andy gots moves for a dinasour
It's his intensity
What ep/series was this? Agreed looks like the sweet spot with Bobby and Andy’s contrasting raw humanity always bubbling and Greg etc coming into there own…
Cohen screwed the pooch on that episode.
Imagine having to count the pieces.
Not 26, not 28, but 27. How are Andy and Bobby not drenched in red.
Classic
Fancy ... "probably not enough"
One of the most shocking moments
Actually, this episode is Paris is Burning.
That’s insane for cops to actually witness atrocities like that in real life there is no way you can erase it from your memory truly horrible.
I don’t remember the rest of the episode. Why does Andy say to Bobby, “You shut up too”?
"If you're their boss...."
Hey, at least he isn't a racist. There is some good in everyone...
OK, not him.
I don't think this is 4x22. I think it's 4x21, "Is Paris Burning." When you read the descriptions of "A Draining Experience," the season finale, it doesn't include this plotline. It's in the penultimate episode.
This was a good one

How many times has Andy's partner stopped him from doing something that would put him in jail.
Sipowitz could tune up a damp piano.
Looked like he resisted to me......
Not beaten enough
Good old kidney shots.....be pissing blood for a fucking week
This clip is from 4x21 “Is Paris Burning?”, NOT 4x22 “A Draining Experience.

He is right not enough 🤬
The arrest should have continued upon on the roof where the bad guy could test his flying skills. Just saying.
What episode is this from?

Sounds like Markeith Loyd.
I know this is just a tv show but damn man I wouldn't last a week at that fucking job.

Andy wasn't an ordinary old man he served in the 82nd airborne in Vietnam.
