    The DS isn't a very common position in vball so i personally wouldn't have included it in a basic explanation. I think it would've made more sense to explain the different roles a position will play depending on whether they're in the front or back row. For example, the outside hitter is responsible for hitting and blocking in the front row but has to guard the back side of the court on defence while also being ready to hit back row attacks when they're in the back row

      I think in a video like this it makes sense to have it. You see DS a lot at beginner levels so that both those who play DS and those who play Outside have less responsibilities to focus on.
      I started as a DS and then once I learned how to hit and block well I moved to playing opposite.

      it’s usually common on lower level highschool teams that try to include every teammate so it’s helpful for those who may be trying out

    i have a question that might sound stupid but why do they assign players a specific position if they're going to rotate?

    • @kunwargupta9175
      @kunwargupta9175 8 месяцев назад +7

      Because setter is a very difficult position when he is in back after serve he goes to front row and not everyone can set

    • @kerem061
      @kerem061 8 месяцев назад +4

      Its reverse there was rotationing, but not everyone could play every position so they made special positions which they take after your team/opponents team has served. Like not everyone can Set and not everyone can pass like the Libero and most Liberos cant Block as they are short.

    • @DavidNitzscheBell
      @DavidNitzscheBell 8 месяцев назад +11

      at the time of the serve, players must be in the right rotational position, but as soon as the ball is in play, the players will adjust to their assigned position. This means that you can put your best hitter at OH no matter what the rotation is. You can put your tallest players at MB, too. it allows coaches to build the strongest team but still follow the rules of rotation / position.

    • @dmelonking
      @dmelonking 4 месяца назад +3

      Your height isn't enough to determine your position. You have to learn what you are good at and what you want to learn. It's just that being smaller means you might have a bit of a disadvantage for certain things like blocking and reach but that can be made up for by increasing your vertical jump, timing and game sense. I would choose something that u enjoy or something that fits your playstyle rather than deciding it on based on your height.

    why is the setter in the back row in this video... I'm confused

    • @ellamation7825
      @ellamation7825 4 месяца назад

      Since the setter runs to the front row after the serve anyways, it’s easier to already have 3 hitters in the front row so your team can get more hits in and the setter has more options

    • @aylintravels_

      @@ellamation7825 See that is something that confuses me, too. As a beginner, you don't know why the players are lining up according to their preference. Why not start in a fixed constellation instead of skipping steps already to avoid confusion?
