My lenovo h520e has the front panel connectors which are supposed to be 5-6 different pins in a little pin like the CPU fan connector instead of separate will there be a problem if I change my motherboard or they will work fine?

@@deaglelim by the looks of things, he plugged in the 1050 because the 750 looks different without a metal piece on the connection area.
This is a great video. I'm pretty ignorant about this stuff, and most videos assume you have some advanced knowledge and/or go too fast without explaining every step. Good video, maybe a bit too fast for the bits you need to buy and why. For example, why did you select the particular gfx card?
You also should have more light on the computer its all a bit dark.
These things would be easy to fix and generally the video is very good, well placed, very good commentary and good sound quality.

The ram with heat sink will fit you just have to remove the cpu cooler before installing. Before reinstalling the cpu cooler remember to reapply whatever thermal paste you prefer.
I have this same pc and recently took your recommendation and bought the same video card. I installed it alright, but after booting my pc back up, I'm not getting any signal to my monitor. The instructions said to connect hdmi to the card itself, but there was no signal when I did. I then tried connecting to the original port on my pc and still nothing. Any idea why this is? Any help would be appreciated
If you have not already, check the monitor settings (the buttons on the monitor itself). It could be on the wrong setting. Also I did a quick search and turned up a similar issue in the M78s. If you don't want to follow the link I posted, search google for "thinkcentre m92p new video card no signal" the first search result should read "ThinkCentre M78 new video card issue - NO DISPLAY" That's the one you want to read. Same happened to me because i didnt uninstall the display drivers before i put the gpu.

i you fk something in the process, just uninstall the gpu, put you hdmi/vga in the mobo conection and power on the pc, the MOBO itself will install the intel display drivers and it will display in the monitor. Restart the process

Great video! Is this using the original psu? If so, I believe it's a 240W psu, right? I read online that Lenovo doesn't recommend using a gpu that needs more than 45W via the pcie gpu port. Low profile gpus, like the 1050ti or 1650, often require 75W though. Is this an issue in any shape, form or way? Thanks!
I have been running a MSI Nvidia GT 1030 for over 4 years now in my Lenovo ThinkCentre M92p it takes up to 65W max via PCIe port and I have not had any problems with it. A card with a 65W or 75W draw on the PSU will tax it a little more but it is doable. Personally I would have just went with 1 larger SSD drive rather than a 2nd HDD via splitter, as that is also drawing extra from the PSU and with that graphics card I wouldn't want any other devices taxing the PSU to allow the Graphics Card that extra. IMO
I have a 1650 in my m29p, works perfectly fine, I've been running it for around 3 years now, I didn't have to remove anything to install

A month ago when I installed the gtx 1050ti lp, the fans weren't spinning but my old card still worked. After spending hours trying to make it work, I returned it.

To get the ram heatsinks properly, I would of personally upgraded that cpu cooler! That cpu cooler is upgradable on that specific pc and other Lenovo m series like this one.

doesn’t work with the stock psu i think. And if you want a new psu it’s almost impossible to find the 14/4 pin connector for the motherboard

Cool video. Could you make a cpu and case fan upgrade video? One thing that can be easily be improved on these pcs is the fan noise levels and usaully its not a plug and play process since they use proprietary cables
Hi, yes you can install 15mm or 20mm fan on the back side for better cooling and CPU heat sink upgrade you can take this motherboard and install in to bigger case and you have to use 24Pin To 14pin Cable for Lenovo M92P PSU Upgrade.

so I actually did this with the m92p, 240W psu in mid tower, works fine in game mode OC

@@guyjordan8201 Both those cards need a minimum of 300w according to geforce.com, so you need an addition power supply. I have the same pc and want to upgrade the GPU but realise I now have to buy an addition power supply on top of it. I think a 500w Corsair or cool master one is a good idea, don't get a cheap one.

Both cards doesn't require addition power. It uses pcie slot 75w power and work good...
@@Agaran144 Yes they do, using a 240w power supply with fry the internals. On the geforce website is says they need 300w. Other non gtx cards need 400-600w or sometimes more

Depends on your Model they have either (240W 92plus Single output) or a
(240W 85plus Single output) so it will handle this card as it only pulls 75W max, personally I would have just put 1 larger sized SSD in and not 2nd HDD using spliter - causing more drain from the PSU but that's just me. Could also just use a USB 3.1 external HDD for storage as another option.
@@billytk1225 thanks for the reply. But I ended up throwing it into a 45.00 case with a 450w ATX power supply from another cheap PC I had. Learned a lot though the 250 is more than strong enough. Using that motherboard I had to buy a couple converter cables from eBay to make the case connectors work correctly.

Can the x16 PCIe slot handle a card that draws up to 75W from everything I've read regarding the M93p (which appears to be very similar) Lenovo recommends only using cards rated up to 40W. I'm not sure if this is due to the 240W PSU or if it's a limitation of the x16 PCIe slot itself. Any insight?

I had that computer. I put a AMD Pheneom 2 cpu at 3.8ghz with a WD ssd. That thing was lightning fast. Till motherboard croaked.

Will the video card upgrade help with playing 4K video files? I'm not worried about the gaming aspects. I picked an M82 up for a media server at home. I know that I should plug it into my router directly and update the internal mechanical HDD to an SSD. I was just curious is it's worth upgrading the video card as well.
you don't have to upgrade the PSU for this card?
no because depending on your model it has a (240W 92plus Single output) or a
(240W 85plus Single output) PSU. This card only uses 75W max and will work just fine. I wouldn't recommend adding a 2nd HDD as that too will pull more from PSU - Just use a larger sized SSD and no need for 2 drives.

Don't pay the extra for low profile. I got a good case for 28.00 and 2 adaptors for 10.00 and used a 1050 ti with 2 fans

No, that requires a higher wattage than the pci-e slot can actually handle. I use a gt 1030 gddr5.

Honestly dude you're better off just upgrading the psu. There's versions that will fit you can buy on EBay for $25-$40, all you'd need is a 24 pin to 14 pin cable to use as an adapter which you can also get on EBay for like $5. You'd be looking at a psu with between 300 and 400 watts, which should be more than enough to run any low profile gpu.

because ive bought a 1050 ti without doing much research on the lenovo desktops i have the full tower m91p and i looked online and it said the mobo pci is 60w and the card uses 75w but i have a 450w upgraded psu.

Hi! I did an upgrade similar to a Lenovo ThinCentre M77. I changed Ram dimms, taking care about the specs. But, the PC get block without video signal. Then, I tried to use the same dimms and didn't work. When i took all the dimms off, the pc sounds using 3 bips. I have cleared the BIOS, change the dimms, etc... and still nothing. Can you help me to solve the problem? Nice content and channel.

It might be too big to fit in the case. Use low profile, low wattage gpus like GT 1030 or 1050ti

The PCIe slot on the M93p is listed as "Slot 1: Low Profi le, PCI Express 3.0 x16 (40w max)"

The Geforce 1050Ti is a 75 Watt card. Gigabyte does not list the power consumption, which may be why the uploader thought he could get away with installing it.
It is telling that the video does not include him booting up and testing the machine.

Hi I need you help. I have both the M92p sff and the tower version but the motherboard of the tower version died l few months ago. I realised that the layouts of their motherboards are the same so i want to transfer all the M92p sff parts to the tower version and also buy a 600w psu with a 24 to 14 pins power adapter. but my concern is if a rx 570 - 580 will work on that motherboard cause some people are complaining about M series compatibility with amd cards. mine has an i5 3470 and 16 gb of ddr3 ram. please reply quick before i buy the gpu
Hi, i would go with Gigabyte GTX 1050 ti or GTX 1060 6gb that would work fine with M92p motherboard.

Modify its BIOS and you can get it to work. but if it is brand new its better to return it.

@@evergamer4468 Si, con esa si va a funcionar de entrada y sin tener que hacer nada más. Con la 1650 también va a funcionar, pero tienes que habilitar en el BIOS que el arranque sea de la tarjeta + la integrada, es decir, tienes que tener un monitor conectado a una salida de video de la mother y otro a la gráfica para que puedas tener imagen y ya de allí instalar los drivers de Nvidia. Si no te quieres arriesgar con la RX 560 y tienes todavía la posibilidad, mejor devuélvela ya que no podrás hacerla funcionar en esas ThinkCentre a menos que hagas la modificación de la BIOS para engañar a la mother y que arranque.

Hi, i have an M93P Lenovo tower desktop, not the SFF and would like to upgrade video card that has hdmi ports, i dont game but i have a samsung 27" curved monitor on it. I also have a wireless card, a 500 SSD hard drive and 24 Gbs of ram in it. Do you know of any video cards that would work that aren't so expensive?
A USB HDMI or something like an old used card on ebay for under 30$. If you want something new you could get a gt 710 but it's around 50$ which isn't a great price if your using it just for the HDMI port.

Yeah, you cant make the gtx1050 ti work by just plugging in into the pci-e. You need a 6 pin thingy for power somewhere else, and that psu @240 obviously wont cut it. Took much of a risk for your PC, and your house.
@@denniswgm6526 I just had this 1050ti card, the gigabyte versions are lp and designed specifically for motherboard power and have a max wattage of 75W and cooling and low energy technology incorporated. They are made for this exact type of scenario. Im upgrading to an LP 1650 OC Gddr6 4GB today, 25W more total draw, not going to burn the house down, maybe fry the motherboard if you overclock a lot ok... but that's it
