  • In this video we are building another electric dirt bike, this time we are modifying the dirt bike engine and installing the electric motor into the engine so therefore we can still have the 6 speed transmission and clutch.

    Yep, definitely needs the tank and plastic goodies. If you can find some similar colored plastic to extend the front bottom of the tank, it would probably look even better. Plus that expanse of sheet metal on the back of the battery cover would probably be ideal to mount the controller and keep your power leads fairly short! This is turning out really nice Chris! Electro-Suzi lives!😂👍👍

    I love what you have done. Mad respect. I wish my surron ultra had at least a low-hi gear. If only someone would make a planetary 2 speed to replace the jackshaft along with a solenoid shift. This would allow me to run a large rear sprocket for gear reduction and shift to a high gear when the motor runs out of RPM.

  • @whodat90
    @whodat90 2 месяца назад +1

    I’d do a bolt on piece across the top of the battery box connecting the upper frame rails right at the upper bend and a set of tubes coming directly from the rear shock upper mount to as high on the new frame rails as practicable.

    I really love your channel and admire your garage! I took some welding classes and have been making custom frames just like you! I would love to for you to make a video on your shop, tools n hardware you use/have and use regularly for welding. where you store your bare metals. And possibly hacks that make custom fab work easier. Thanks again and great channel!!

    Keep in mind, your using a 2 stroke transmission which is a very close ratio because 2 strokes don't have torque. You would have been better off using wide ratio transmission. The electric motor had all the torque. You could use the wider ratio and use more of the gears.

    Hello, big fan of your builds , I'm not sure of the terminology on electric bike motors , but on RC's I always go into the ESC programming and turn the "punch" level down to about 50% ( it acts like a soft start-up , ) it also makes it ( the RC ) way more controllable and puts way less stress on the drive train when you punch it , it's not as quick to respond , but I'll take that over replacing broken parts any day .
    P.S.
    If you mention this comment on air , my name is Scott not Joe .

  • @AlphaMachina

    I think it'd look better without any of the plastic at all, and just make custom sheet metal panels for it. But that's just me. Edit: And I'd definitely go without the diamond plate. Make the battery box with flat panels facing outward.

    Get those 1/4 of circle chamfering bits to your handmill. Some of them have a bearing at the tip that you can lean on and just mill off the chamfer edge of sheet. Those are widely used to make alu products for more appealing and nicer to humans as the edge is smooth and round.

    • @tujuprojects

      Ones with two flutes for wood work fine with alu.
