I made one of these a few years ago. It has served me well. Works like a moxon vise. I am now moving home so I will have to recreate it somewhere.. or build a real bench and fit a real bench vise..
This is simple straightforward keep it simple stupid even though the idea is genius!! I have been looking at vises but I'm going with this. Thanks from another old man
nice video, T. I just saw this channel and subscribed. I like watching small shops and channels. Welcome to the world of YT video creators. One question. Why didn't you make the jaw level to the top of the bench? FYI, I would support the top-back of that jaw asap or it will snap off along the grain just above the 2x4. Either small gussets on the back or 3/4 " dowels thru the top will prevent the breaking. Also, I found thru a viewer about a rug tape called "RugGrip" at Amazon. Using that on the outer jaw face will help with gripping tremendously. I use the 2" wide stuff all over the place now. I don't always comment, but I will be always watching :>)
Made a mistake with lining up the holes with the top. Just a little off. Good eye. I also agree with your "snap off" comment. I think I'm gonna build another, just 20 minutes =) that have two vertical braces with holes for the pipe. This would add strength and avoid the "snap". Thanks for watching!!!
I AM SITTING HERE WONDERING WHY I HAVNT ALREADY THOUGHT OF THAT? WHY NO ONE ELSE HAS SHOWED ME THAT? THEREFORE WITH A *VERY BIG SALUTE AND THANKS*, I GO NOW TO MY SHOP TO BUILD MY OWN. I AM DEFINITELY A NEW SUBSCRIBER. HAVE A GOOD ONE. WHAT OTHER GENIUS TRICKS AND IDEAS ARE YOU SITTING ON?
What an awesome video. Thank you. I have so many pipe clamps and have been waiting for a nice bench clamp to go on market....not anymore!!! Thank you so much
I get it now. Release one clamp and pull out. then do the other. THAT's why the outer part of the clamp isn't fastened. I could second nature that in no time!!!
I love that you set a time limit on your projects! I need to start doing that on mine.
It helps getting things done. Thanks for watching!
From one old dude to another, well done!
Ha! Thanks Paul!

I made a moxon vice using f clamps and 2x4’s.

good idea, I was wondering about how to do that with only 2 hands
Good work man. I'll sub. I just got into wood working. For now I mostly mill logs for the wood I'm using. I got a couple vids on you tube.

Very cool idea! If you can run screws blind like that, you have my attention. Subscribed! Good luck in your endeavors!

Hello visiting for the second time and I thought
Instead of bar clamp why not use other clamps?
Just a question.
I think big C clamps would work and nothing to build. Just a board and couple of clamps. Good idea, thanks!
My pleasure
Do yuu have to reach under the table to release the back clamp bracket?
Yep.
I get it now. Release one clamp and pull out. then do the other. THAT's why the outer part of the clamp isn't fastened. I could second nature that in no time!!!
Brilliant, HF 3/4" pipe clamps are $7. Heavy duty bench wood vise of similar diameter +$300 and wouldnt match my reclaimed wood workbench ;D
Thanks for commenting, Camilot! :)

The pipe klamps are a little expensive 🤔 have anyone ever broken one🙂❓‼️

You could clamp chopping boards in these.
