- The US and international community has accused Russia of war crimes in Ukraine as Russian artillery has devastated Ukrainian cities and lives. But it has been difficult to associate specific generals to specific crimes, the key to actually carrying out war crimes prosecutions. In Kharkiv, CNN has seen the aftermath of attacks targeting civilians using indiscriminate cluster munitions -- a war crime. In a two-month-long investigation, CNN can reveal the commander responsible for these attacks. CNN's Nima Elbagir reports. #CNN #News

The Whitehouse later said it found no evidence of massacred. However, there is clear evidence of massacre in the on-going Russia war against Ukraine. Note that these reporters sometimes tell the story to impress their employers.

We've been generally too selective condemning war crimes all over the world before. Hopefully that will change moving forward.
It's easier to document these things in Ukraine. There's primarily only two sides fighting and people aren't being abducted and beheaded by ISIS. I do still agree with the statement

As long as we cannot get hold of those responsible, there will be no justice. Only if Russia is down on its knees, like Nazi Germany in 1945, there might be chance to held them responsible. Otherwise Russia will neither extradite them or prosecute them themself. Just like the US is protecting its troops that committed war crimes as well. The Russians will do them same. Or have you ever seen any US soldier prosecuted in Den Haag? Same story with China.

@@mrsam0496 the reporter suggests that the West did not react/care as much, when same atrocities were committed elsewhere. Even if it were true which remains to be proven, at least there sufficient diversity of mechanisms, institutions, structures in democracies to question what happens or what happened.
