Jalen is the team’s only self-creating 3-level scorer. Sengun and Amen can’t score consistently from outside. Fred can’t score from inside. Jabari, Tari and Cam aren’t self-creators. Reed is just terrible all around. Jalen is the only player who is a threat with the ball anywhere on the court. And you NEED someone like that to break down the defense. He plays a critical role on this team, one that only he can play, and one that only he is willing to play. And because he takes on that responsibility, it is not surprising that he shoots a low percentage. He is also their leading scorer and highest usage player (though Sengun is nearly tied). He has to take on all of that responsibility without decreasing his focus on the defensive side like most “stars” in the NBA do. Remember Harden? This team relies on 2 things, constant focus on defense, and everyone playing their role on offense. Sengun creates from the post. Jabari spreads the floor and covers Sengun’s weak side. Amen and Tari disrupt opponent’s offense and create fast breaks off turnovers. Amen also disrupts the defense with his athletic drives. Fred initiates the half-court offense and takes the Hail Mary shots from the perimeter. Brooks and Tari brings defensive intensity and leadership while hitting the occasional 3 to spread the floor. And Jalen’s role is that of the 3-level self creator that keeps defenses off balance and open opportunities for others. Even if Jalen is “predictable” like you say, he helps the team overall be unpredictable. That pressure contributes to wins. You don’t need to have Jalen. Sure there are better 3-level scorers in the NBA. But don’t discount what he does for this team. It has more value than you think. He definitely does not make the team worse.

Jalen is team leading scorer, why people are so harsh on this kid only 22 years old, oh because everyone expectation for him is so high, what if Brook, Smith Fred score 2 points no one would pay attention, Rockets would not be where it is today without Jalen,

    • @svmirving

Fred VanVleet has only 9 assists to Jalen Green. Fred VanVleet has looked selfish in not running on fast break and pulling back for a half court for himself.
Fast breaks to Amen, Jalen, Tari. Fred VanVleet is a undersized SG who doesn't pass the ball to the Hot Hand. Jalen Green had 41 points against Maxey 39 without Fred VanVleet.
Reed Sheppard, Jalen Green, Amen Thompson, Jabari Smith, Alperen Sengun. This lineup will work and Reed and Amen are really unselfish in passing for Fast Breaks with a High IQ in playmaking, Reed Sheppard will open the floor for Jalen and Amen to Drive more.

Everybody is getting their touches and it's hard to get a rhythm when the ball does not come always your way. People be talking like they play ball smh. There is no clear main offensive guy on their system hence everybody is not shooting the lights-out always. You literally have to be thankful this guy is scoring 19 ppg on a very stack team who wants the ball as well (fvv, jabari, sengun, amen, eason). Remember, the best offensive nights of jalen came when he was the focal point of the offense last season (when sengun was out for 2-3 months idk). Guy was playing out of his mind during that time, this Udoka system lets everybody shine. Talking like his on the NBA rofl you can't even make your hs varsity team with ur mindset full of fantasy.
