Proffie is becoming more and more powerful with each OS. There’s so much documentation that if you know zero about arduino, you can still build a lightsaber.
The fett263 website makes it stupid easy to make your own config. It’s a plus to know arduino so you can ID mistakes in code, but if you don’t know code, the website can carry you through the entire process.
Don't be afraid of Proffie. I had no prior experience with coding and I was able to set up complex blade styles, color, and sound fonts in a couple of days.
“Go hard or go home” is the mentality I had when I built my first saber 2 months ago. I went with a proffie neopixel build BUT I did a lot of research on the proffie before I built it. It’s not actually that complicated when you get into it.
installing Arduino IDE and drivers isn't exactly "computer science hard." And there is no need to "reinvent the wheel" when programming the Proffieboard. A lot of the software has already been written out and shared throughout the community. It's just a matter of reaching out to the community and looking at what has already been done. Honestly, a lot of open source software coding by hobbyist is cut and paste as someone much smarter has already written the code and has shared it with the world.
THIS. Everyone said don't do it but I barely had to do anything. Google, copy, paste. Stuffing the wires in nicely inside the saber was much more difficult.
Not to get off subject but this is my fifth video of yours that I have watched. I have actually paused it to write this. Your videos are very informative, very funny and on the current subject, entertaining and exciting. Definitely 10 out of 10 Wookiee’s.

So I have this Saberforge Xiphos stunt saber laying around and I decided that I did really miss the sound. I settled on the proffie board cause it is highly customizable and has smooth wing options. I bought a chassis, rechargeport, kill key, protected battery, various wires, shrink tubing and buttons. I had this laying around for almost 6months before finally trying to install this. In about an hour I had everything soldered up. In about another hour I had set it up. It worked flawless, first time!!! Although you need to be able to solder and it helps a lot if you have a bit programming experience , tutorials online will guide you through the process. After setting it up you can use fredericks style generator to basicly generate all the code you could ever need. In the end I decided to take it appart since I wanted to use another led as well as doing a better job at cable management. All in all my experience has been a lot better than expected. I would encourage people to do the research and give it a go. Also there are loads of facebook groups in which people that create awsome sabers for a living respond to your questions fairly quickly.
What’s your opinion of golden harvest boards? I recently got a saber from Spectrum Sabers and that has a golden harvest but haven’t seen much about them aside from what exists on Sabertec
erv plecter deserves a lot of love. he does his runs for the boards on the side as a hobby. at the start of the custom sabers age like 10ish years ago he was the only person on earth that produced those boards with a lot less features :D hes probaly the main drive behind a lot of features we have now 🤩
Love the Apple references. I am an Apple user. So now I know I did make a good choice on the sound board I got. I got one you used the Apple reference about.
Yes. I heard that the Golden Harvest is a "step in the right direction", but still using outdated technology and not up to par with the others on this list.
I still don't get why The Custom Saber Shop was not on the list of saber stores to know on your last video. The have all the parts needed to build a lightsaber - from the simplest to the most feature rich (I don't work for them, just a loyal customer).
@@RandomStuffGarage619 15 years for me. The IRL saber group I am in makes a quarterly group order from TCSS. Best source for lightsaber parts if you want to get your order arriving in about a week.
Came here specially to see what you thought of the GH v3 board, hope you cover it sometime because it's one of the top two I'm trying to decide between!
I had to build my first saber because the only two Sound modules on the market was Crystal Focus and a company called Ultrasound. I went with the cheaper one. That is what it was. My hilt was made from a sink tube and adapters to accept MHS parts from The Custom Saber Shop.
Bro. You need to research the Sabertec Golden Harvest V3. Smoothswing, neopixel, accents, super easy to wire up, fantastic tech support, and almost half the price of CFX. The smoothswing algorithm is the same across the three boards, but the threshold settings on GHv3 are perfect right out of the box. No advanced coding or setup necessary.
I just updated my Verso board to the latest beta and now it holds multiple fonts, has lock up, blaster deflection, and accent swings! If you are thinking about soldering your first lightsaber I HIGHLY recommend Verso! Then go to the Verso support FB page and search for the latest beta and install that on your SD card and BOOM smooth swing neopixel saber with all the main cool effects like color change on the fly and blade style selection on the fly!
Actually, Proffieboard already does all of what CFX does, and more. Not the potential, but already does. As for the "and more", someone's already programmed interaction between a saber and a blaster using IR blasters and sensors to trigger blaster blocks. In short, welcome the lightsaber in a game of laser tag.
Have you tried replacing the soundboard that's inside of the Savi's Workshop lightsaber? Because I'd be extremely interested to see the process, the pros, the cons, everything in-between!
This is a WARNING to people buying soundboards. I started building my first lightsaber about 9 months ago and there were no easy videos like this channel is making so good job I am subscribed. But having been into this for a few months I do not agree with this video regarding the Proffie. The comparison he used is simply not good. When I was choosing the soundboard some other video recommended the CFX as the best and I took their word for it. I have a CFX and it is pending install but I was too quick to buy that and did not really even look at the Proffie. This is by far the biggest mistake I have made so far. I hate that I made this mistake because the worst thing is I paid 3 TIMES as much for the CFX and am getting less features. The price difference between the Proffie and CFX is crazy. I hate this. The thing that bugs me A LOT also is when I was looking at sound fonts, Kyberphonics did a demo of a certain font that had an epic light up effect (I guess blade profile) and that was on Proffie but the same font on CFX is just sad in comparison. CFX does not have that blade profile. This sucks so much. This might sound like a small thing but for 3 times the price it is a huge deal for me. Also having done more research, the car comparison he made was very bad and I would say that Proffie is just slightly slightly slightly more complex than the CFX. This is nothing. If this is your first time like mine you have to lear a ton of stuff anyway and doing one extra step is so worth it. I do not plan to program stuff on my own there are FB groups and communities that already did all of the work for the Proffie. So it should not be any more difficult than the CFX he did not mention this and that is very important. So to conclude if I fry my CFX I will be getting a Proffie and I hate myself for not doing more research. The point of this comment is DO RESEARCH YOURSELF. I screwed up because I watched some other video where somebody recommended CFX as the best and now having done the research myself I know that for me this is not the case. Do not automatically trust this video. For the uploader, since you have the money and subscriber base I think you should try out the Proffie yourself and I think you will see that the comparison you made is simply not fair because if I was starting out now I would likely trust everything you say and later down the line would get screwed. I like the style and quality of your videos keep up the good work just simply be more careful when making such comparisons.
Hello thank you for the nice video! I have one very important question and I really hope you will see this. I have already ordered a soundboard to upgrade my cheap RGB lightsaber with 3 soundfonts to a lightsaber with Smooth Swing and better sound fonts. My plan was to switch the old soundboard with the new one. Now I realised that my lightsaber doesn't really have an extra soundboard. There is only one circuit board in the lightsaber which every calbe goes to and it also has the button and the charging port on it. What do I do now? Is this still possible? Thank you for your help! Sorry if my English is bad, I'm not a native speaker.
Man i love you. I really want to build lightsaber and with this videos it's really possible I can make it. But I have one question, is there any free codes for proffie on the internet or tutorials?
i bought an rgb baselit lightsaber that had a slot for a microSD. i had no clue what it was until i saw this video. i now know that its a verso soundboard. yay
I saw that when you buy soundfonts off of places like saberfonts and kyberphonic they have a force sound you can add on to it im just wondering how can i add it since theres no force folder, just a blaster folder you can use the button for
