No one defines what you just wrote more than Glen Sather and his 20 + years of absolute ineptitude, arrogance and failure on nearly every metric once he came to NY. Sather was a clear one-trick pony who struck gold in Edmonton and rode the shoulders of Gretzky and Messier all the way to the HOF. But when he had to rely on his own skills, he proved that he was more qualified to run a lemonade stand than an 'Original 6' franchise. Only more pathetic than Sather is the owner who tolerated and encouraged such mediocrity.
And yet as a bunch of real insiders, none of you can seem to speak to whether or not the coach lost the room and couldn't get the play that was expected by management, Monty is a great coach. is he the right coach for this group? Everyone always acts like somebody gets fired by a bunch of ogres. Sometimes the pieces cease to fit. Oh Sweeney and Neely should go? Because you are working off emotion? You know they aren't the owners correct? Lots of companies fire good management when shareholders demand action. Welcome to the actual, unfair reality of business in sports.
Lmfao! This makes TWO Jack Adams award winners fired by Sweeney in 4 years. The first one got picked right up and immediately won a cup. One would have to think that it is the GM and the players are the problem and not the coaches. 🤷
Bruins were meant to falloff last year after a record breaking season before. Monty is a great coach, maybe the suits should take a look at themselves. I hope Monty gets hired soon somewhere where they’ll actually appreciate him.
Only seven teams, ever, have won the Stanley Cup after firing the coach mid-season. Which suggests firing the coach is usually done for short-sighted, short-term reasons. For instance, the GM is probably firing the coach to save his own job. Or to give the team a "spark" that will last however-many regular season games before they settle back into natural mediocrity. Or the BEST reason: to placate the disgruntled fans, who have the collective emotional capacity and the attention span of toddlers. This particular GM clearly had a plan for this year: he built a team to play Florida. It looks like he did it badly, since they can't beat Florida. I'm not sure how that's Montgomery's fault. It's not like he developed sudden-onset incompetence over the summer. You'll see Montgomery with another team, and another coach that got fired elsewhere will end up with Boston. Guaranteed. What have we accomplished? What have we learned?
Fire Sweeney and Neeley. Should have signed Swayman in the offseason. This is on management and the horrible pics and trading away first round draft picks over the past several years.
Sweeney has brought his style of play and his cowardice to The Bruins! They were physically run out of the building by Florida and didn’t have anyone on the team that could protect Pastanak and Tkackuk beat him up. Disgraceful. Sweeney needs to go!
Not really a big mistake, since the coach isn't that important at this time, but very misguided and potentially sends the wrong message. The team has no talent and this has been years in the making.
That makes little sense in what you say about the coach, because what you're suggesting is thar they don't bother with ever hiring another one, because they'll always be the one to take the fallno matter what.
So things aren't going well, you get rid of one of the NHL's best coaches? So he had 20 games of built up job security, pathetic. Marchand is at the end of his career. Why not give Montgomery more time to right the ship?
It's the roster, not the coach. Monty isn't letting in soft goal after soft goal. Monty can't score goals, then again, neither can the guys on the ice. Sacrificial lamb who won't change a thing as far as results go.
@bbb462cid I thought the multi million dollar contracts were the motivation. Grown men shouldn't need another man to motivate them. This will change nothing. The roster is terrible. The GM and president should be looking for work, not the coach.

Because the Boston Bruins since Bergeron went on retirment it went nowhere and no. 63 is not himself anymore. So to resume the head of Boston Bruins it should rebuild like the Montreal Canadiens and it will take a period of times.

They need to go outside the organization to get a coach. A hard nosed coach. The player’s haven’t played well. I think when Neely blurted out the 64 million reasons why Swayman should stay was in bad taste.

Not at all surprised. It's sad and annoying, but of course, all sports teams go through a rebuild at some time or another. This year is the Bruins' turn.Considering the results Monty got in the past two regular seasons, I have to think that something changed and he lost the locker room this year. The mistakes the Bruins have made consistently all season long are completely unacceptable for a pro team. That said, firing the coach will do nothing to elevate the level of talent the B's are putting on the ice every night. IMO, Sweeney needs to go as well. The moves he made in the 2022-2023 season worked beautifully until Florida came back from 3-1 down to win the series in game 7, in Boston. (And let's not forget that the B's had the go-ahead goal with only a couple of minutes left in that game.) Sweeney's moves left the Bruins with nothing much in the way of draft choices for the next few seasons, and absolutely nothing to show for it.
i don't see this firing doing anything to help, the team itself is just bad and somehow worse than the past two years, but marchand does that shoulder tap numerous times a game, he was not gesturing at his "C" that's genuinely ridiculous to even think
