Thank you for this great video. I am proud to share Mick Burke's name. My parents were good friends with Mick and I think of him often and his legacy on Everest.
Your comment touched my heart. It's incredible to hear that your parents were friends with Mick Burke. Thank you for sharing your personal connection and for watching our video.
Please I don't get it. What is spectacular about this. Please explain what destroying that eco system proves. How are they special. How are they heros. What does climbing this mountain do for society. Nothing
This story is truly a tribute to these men and what being driven can accomplish. Your channel is a hidden gem and I am thankful I came across it. Thank you for your hard work.
What a find this has been to have come across your channel brother! Have been watching all your videos this morning, and have enjoyed every one. Really happy to be here before your channel blows up mate, I promise with content like this you will in no time. Keep up the great work! God Speed!
Crazy to think that you could literally find someone how theyve rested for the last 40+ years, take Ol' Green Boots for instance. Been laid there since '96 and will be there until the mountain decides otherwise. I can absolutely see the allure behind wanting to experience the climb and all it entails. Youd just have to take the mountain goddess's warnings to heart, and know that if you werent 100% on top of your own self-control, you may remain with her until time stops. Man...
Never trying to push your luck climbing Everest unless you're as persevered, strong and fearlessly crazy like Nirmal Purja or Kristin Harila. Even they tehselves face death multiple of time but lucky to escape alive. There are places in this world human just don't belong to and Everest is one of them.
I can't imagine what it would be like if I had to make the choice of going on or turning back. I think, knowing me I would go on,, but how I'd feel making that decision is beyond me. Tragic, terrible and exilerating it must be truly amazing leaving a climber on a totally different plain.
The red flag you mention at the summit was very probably left there by the Chinese expedition which summitted the northern approach for the first time this same year, installing the "Chinese Ladders" over the northern steps along the way.
damn i cant stomach it... to think maybe somwhere in the distant future mick might be found jus like that ne antherthal cave man and they miigh n ot even ever know his name and that every night as cold as it is up there his eyes could jus be lookin up at the sky or the cold landscape while time goes by it fucks me up mentally
I knew a guy who started smoking when he was twelve, eventually he got lung cancer and he beat it. Lived another twenty years and smoked them until he died at 87 .is that a victory? Don't be an asshole with no empathy.
@@staceywatrin2112well no I wouldn’t call that a victory but same result. He put himself on harms way and eventually paid the price, right? If someone puts themself in a very dangerous path I don’t feel sorry for them. Common sense is a thing of the past.
@@staceywatrin2112 that would be a victory. Just like the ones who make it back down, victory. If your friend had died early it wouldn’t be a victory or tragic as it is with ppl who on purpose put themselves in deadly situations. Just bc we are human doesn’t mean we should go everywhere on earth. Respect the earth and it’s beauty as all other animals do. From there place on earth.
Life is only a collection of choices and many times all it takes is making the wrong one and @19:49 that time came for him and the mountain won the hand.
If its a sport..and as a sport it fasinates me. But this sport is just caose. I mean everyone wants to drive a 300 mph top fuel dragster. But they have the NHRA. That stopps stupid people from doing that. But this sport has no filter.
I feel like if you need help then you should be financially responsible. If you need help in Switzerland they make you agree to payment before they help. I’m fine with this.
If Chris Bonnington was such a great climber why did he think it was a good idea to try and ascend Everest🏔 in the winter by a difficult route in the knowledge that they wouldn't even be able to see the summit because of the bad weather. The whole point of climbing to the top of the world is to see the view from the top
@@jondavies9347 This was before the commercialization of Everest, back then the Nepalese authorities only allowed one expedition team on the mountain at a time and the May slot for that year had been taken.

Excellent video well written and informative. I did not know this story until today. Very brave men. Just going up a ladder makes me nervous !
Imagine what is on that film that sits somewhere or did he hand the camera equipment off before attempting to summit?
He did not hand the camera off. It’s there somewhere…

I ride a Harley at 80mph but i would be terrified climbing anything that tall or cold. Texans don't like that terrible cold.
I have never heard of anyone going up on the south west face. Now I know why!
I have no idea what “rock band” you are talking about, because I have never heard of this, and cannot find any information on it!!
The Man Who Skied Down Everest.
Most people who survive Everest, end up losing fingers n toes or there nose due to frost bite ,the mountain is littered with trash and dead bodys🎉
The world’s highest graveyard.

Yoou should find some old shipwreck storys
Unwavering in theirr selfishness to put their desires above being responsible parents. Disgusting.
Why is there a deaf, mute boy on Everest??!
Is the dude smoking pot?
I didn’t watch the whole video. But if someone smokes and dies from lung cancer is that tragic loss?
😂 Lol you must be fun to be around.

It wasn't winter.
Exactly,why not in May?
Doesn't make any sense to me
