Okay but can we just appreciate how much of a breath of fresh air MGR’s codec cast and convos are? When I played MGS1 two years ago I looked forward to how each game afterward would have a different expansive cast of memorable characters in each of its codec selections. We learn more about the characters, we get world building, emotional conversations and even moments of humour between the characters, like they’re real human beings.
Peace walker does have a lot of world building and fun/sad moments, if we're counting tapes ofc, cuz the Eva explaining the Boss's background is some of the saddest shit ever, we get to go into Huey's backstory, and Kojima gives us a shit load of hints as to how Huey's always been an asshole who blames others, the entire Paz diary goes in depth as to how Paz feels about having to betray MSF, and the time she spent there, mgsv tho, the tapes barely have anything emotional in them, world building sure, interesting tapes definitely, but nothing really emotional, Quiet's last message doesn't really count since it's the same as the final cutscenes where she says goodbye, the only ones I can think are the ones Paz has when you visit her in the medical platform, really shows the regret Venom has, and (almost) every one of the truth tapes once you finish the game

Firemarioflower Dude, you must be living under a rock. Kojima leaved Konami and there's no fucking way that the next MGR (if it happens) will be as good or as original as the old one.

People who clearly know what their talking about in terms of story and lore and people who just played one of the games and think they know everything about it. I myself have played all the games multiple times and still don't know 100% of everything to do with the franchise.
Well I am in the earlier camp. I have played through EVERY Metal Gear game that has been released and I have been following the series since I was a kid from the NES days. I know the lore backwards, forwards, upsides down and sideways. I control the vertical and the horizontal.
2:21 so in a really obtuse fashion transcending languages, Volgin shares a nickname with Raiden, and also was the lover of Raikov, a Soviet officer who resembled Raiden…. What
Yes I did, but its been a while. Snake's foxdie mutated because of his rapid aging that risked killing anyone he was in contact with, but this was countered by Drebin's injection. Big boss explains this to him and tells him to live the rest of his life in peace. I knew Solid Snake had not long to live, but I thought he would at least live to be in revengence, "but I was wrong..."
BlueLightningRelease It's not like Solid and Solidus (and Liquid too of course) were really "brothers". They were just clones of Big Boss. Plus Raiden wasn't really the son of Solidus so... why would they mention a non-existing fact in the first place?
This would technically mean, Solid, Liquid, and Solidus being clones of Big Snake (Naked/ Punished or Venom Snake/ Big Boss) aside, his adopted grandfather is Big Boss
Kenneth Bui Well, Solidus never officially adopted Raiden. When he refers to himself as Raiden's father, it's in the metaphorical sense in that he trained him as a soldier.
I feel like Snake's dead as Raiden's reaction to the fanboy thing aswell as the line fron Kevin "I just wish I got to meet the guy" talking as if he's no longer alive. Most of the time when someone is alive someone would say "I wish I could meet the guy" only instance I see "got to" working would be as if he'd just missed him at the office after he delivered a birthday cake or something [Metal Gear Pastries].
Shit I'm late to this but yeah snake is supposedly dead by 2018 in the MGS universe. Pretty sure that advanced aging from being a clone had him around his 70's or 80's in MGS4 and he was in his 50's around the time of MGS2.
Actually snake pass away around 2015 I look his history up and you're right he still alive in mgs4 but in rising revengeance he in another side he'll be remember

OMEGAxWARRIOR oh right. i forgot hes dead too. lol well, i dont really get all this cloning stuff anyway. its not just the man that makes a great soldier. its also the training n everything. the way i see it, they should just leave the past in the past n make a new character altogether.
solid snake basically killed his entire family tree he blew up venom snake with a rocket launcher burnt big boss alive and turns out he was actually alive he ofc finished off liquid snake and there's the comic which had an alternative ending of snake waking up and killing solidus instead of raiden
solodarkblade No he didn't. Solid is still very much alive and retired. Sunny talks about him in Rising. Plus the Codec conversation with Kevin, Raiden says Snake would kill him if he heard him talking about him that way. Kojima has also said that Snake is alive.
WiseEndro333 I have played MGS4 numerous times.I know what the game says. Yet Kojima himself keeps retconning things and has said that Snake is still very much alive in Rising. Just like Big Boss used to be dead at one point and then he shows up alive at the end of MGS4 (well only to die again but still).
Incorrect. It was 6 months for the FoxDie to mutate. It's inconclusive how long Snake will live. All we know is that he was already living on sheer will alone during the events of MGS4.
If snake isn’t dead, here’s what possibly happened: -He’s a Cyborg -He’s basically zero in MGS4 now -They did a 2nd Les enfants terribles but with snake as the one being cloned instead of big boss
How about a co-op game with snake and Raiden taking place when they save sunny...still don't know much about that time! And Raiden becomes a cyborg at the end...don't know much about that either. There's open ground for story still
Raiden's talking about Snake both in past and present tense. It's like the game doesn't know if Snake's dead or not even when he logically should be at this point.
Eh, Big Boss (John) said Solid Snake (David) had a few more years left in him, despite Naomi's claims that he would die in 6 months, although Big Boss also claimed that Solid Snake would die before his new mutant Fox Die strain could mutate further, and turn into a biological weapon, so..... It's kind of up in the air how much time David actually has left, though it couldn't be too long. I would say it would be just enough time for him to spend some time living as a man, and not a solider, and getting to see this new world he and the others helped create in Guns of The Patriots, but I expect he likely died maybe a year, two or three years after the events following his final battle, hopefully going peacefully in his sleep. He's earned it, as far as fictional characters and heroes go.
@@oi6915 mgs1 has fuc*in nastasha romanenko codec calls and grey fox so those for me are better than mgs2 codec calls ( the final codec calls with i.a. were interesting but top bad that the game was actually rushed so nothing really memorable )
If I remember correctly, I remember Snake being buried in the Arlington National Cemetery not long after the events of MGS4 according to the official MGS4 novel.
Would Snake be able to handle any of the crazy shit that went on in this game? Metal Gear Ray, robot dog, multi arm babe, magnet man, dude with scissor swords, Brazilian badass, Metal Gear Excelsus, and the ultimate Senator?
I think with RAY the answer is kinda obvious, he fought many Metal Gears in the past and the only reason he was defeated by RAY is because he was on the tanker, but if human Raiden could take multiple of them I'm sure Snake could too, now about the winds of destruction I would say Blade Wolf, Mistral, Sundowner and maybe even Jetstream Sam would be possible, most of them are very similar to the Beauty and the Beast unit, Sam would probably be something similar to the Cyborg Ninja, I'm not taking much of the gameplay into account because let's remember in these games you can survive many bullet holes if you have a ration in your pocket, if it was a regular MGS they would probably be adjusted to Snake's gameplay
I know it's just meant to be a dumb little Easter Egg conversation but I'm confused by the way Raiden talks about Snake in the present tense, but then the other guy says "I wish I got to meet him." Interestinnnng
Snake only had one year to live also, only in the Japanese version since David Hayter was replaced, there's a sword called Hebidamashii (Snake Spirit) from which Snake talks to you through ""spiritual technology".
after finished playing this game, i came to realize that Snake probably didn't die yet...at least his brain, they might transfer it to another body, Cyborg Snake!
It's interesting that Raiden refers to Snake in the present tense...wonder if Snake survived somehow. I guess that's what the Snake Soul sword thing is about. I wonder what would happen if Snake was the main protagonist of Rising...would he need to become a cyborg or would he have been able to take on the various cyborgs like he did in MGS4 with the Beauty and Beast Unit?
There are also Otacon references in the game. Kindly upload that too. Talk to Courtney and/or Sunny in the final mission (R-07) and Raiden will mention him.
It would've been sad but this game should've had cutscene showing Snakes death. Him and otacon were traveling and snake takes his last breaths without anyone knowing and otacon trys to start convo or let snake know some news and he's just motionless. Otacon trys to shake him awake but he's not moving maybe add a lil something more to that but just end it there. I low-key wanted to see old Snakes passing it would've been touching

It's funny how Raiden says Snake is the best soldier he's ever seen, in the same game where he's casually soloing Metal Gears with a katana
Solid Snake beat his first Metal Gear as a teenager in Outer Heaven with his bare hands and surrounded by Big Boss's men with no support and no help and no body modifications
I have a good feeling 80% of MGR players never even played MGS 1-4
you should return those feelings and get new ones.
Well, I see where you're coming from with that. Revengeance is an action hack'n'slash game, while other Metal Gear games are more stealth oriented. People tend to get frustrated with stealth and complex stories that span multiple games
Metal Gear Rising was my first metal gear game and got me into the series.
I never played MGR tbh. I don't like the hack n' slash style.
Kevin “Get that Solid Snake D out yo mouth Raiden”
Raiden “Never!”
I actually want Cyborg Courtney in MGR2 now.
Is their a second MGR?? WOOOHOOOO!!!
Firemarioflower Whu? Nono. I mean, There could be, but its not confirmed or anything like that.
it's not going to happen. You know why.
Pedro Domenech I don't know why. Please tell!!
Firemarioflower Dude, you must be living under a rock. Kojima leaved Konami and there's no fucking way that the next MGR (if it happens) will be as good or as original as the old one.
I wish they'd put Old Snake here as a consultant, helping Raiden via Codec, like Natasha Romanenko or Kaz (Liquid pretending to be Kaz at any rate) in the first game.
This is how I imagine Nero talking about Dante in the future
head cannon: the novelisation of mgs4 clarifies that snake spent his last "years in peace and died with a smile on his face" i take years as a full decade ,mgr take place 4 years after mgs4 so snake is still out there, currentlly the oldest person to win the iditarod, side note: sunny fondness for dogs come from growing up with snakes husky's :)
Where I can find that novelisation
@@juanpablo8230 mgs4 by project itoh
There is no cure for Snake. By MGR, he's very much dead. He's an accelerated clone, remember?
than why was Raiden using present tense when talking about Snake if he is so supposed be dead by MGR?
@@BlakeSmith17Out of respect.
Reading these comments results in two categories of people. People who clearly know what their talking about in terms of story and lore and people who just played one of the games and think they know everything about it. I myself have played all the games multiple times and still don't know 100% of everything to do with the franchise.
raiden now kicks snake´s old ass you shit eater
No one said he wouldn't in combat maybe. If you mean in terms of character and backstory no he doesn't haha.
Well I am in the earlier camp. I have played through EVERY Metal Gear game that has been released and I have been following the series since I was a kid from the NES days. I know the lore backwards, forwards, upsides down and sideways. I control the vertical and the horizontal.

"Think again." Ocelot
good to see Raiden pay his respect to Snake he always was his Dick Grayson to Snakes Bruce Wayne well if you combine Snake and Solidus into one.
We're not gonna mention the codec call with Wolf where Raiden says he's gonna buy a souvenir for Rose???
2:21 so in a really obtuse fashion transcending languages, Volgin shares a nickname with Raiden, and also was the lover of Raikov, a Soviet officer who resembled Raiden…. What
Yes I did, but its been a while. Snake's foxdie mutated because of his rapid aging that risked killing anyone he was in contact with, but this was countered by Drebin's injection. Big boss explains this to him and tells him to live the rest of his life in peace. I knew Solid Snake had not long to live, but I thought he would at least live to be in revengence, "but I was wrong..."
They shouldve added a cutscene where Raiden visits Snakes grave and salutes him
They don't wanna say it outloud that he's dead. This game should have had more Solid Snake references
Isn't Solid Snake technically Raiden's uncle ?
Yes, technically Snake is Raiden's uncle through adoption.
***** They never acknowledge that in game which seemed funny to me . Snake never mentions it to raiden and vice versa . Nice profile picture btw
Snake is not dead you idiots. It was Big Boss (Snake's father) that died at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4.
Actually snake pass away around 2015 I look his history up and you're right he still alive in mgs4 but in rising revengeance he in another side he'll be remember
@@thenunushow175 Snake is dead, asshat. MGS2 was in 2009 and MGS4 was in 2014, and in just 5 years Snake aged like fucking shit. He said he had very little time after the ending in MGS4 to live. MGR:R is 4 years after MGS4, so Snake is 100% dead.

respond coward!
I want another Snake game :'(
OMEGAxWARRIOR
I mean Solid Snake.
B r a n d o n me too. i wish they make a clone of solid snake or something. it seems cloning is a common thing in the game. lol
amazo88
Yeah, but Solid Snake cant be cloned. Naomi says so in MGS4.
I think the only way Solid will return is if Kojima remakes MG1 and or MG2.
B r a n d o n or they just clone big boss again? this time without the defects n all the shits. lol
OMEGAxWARRIOR oh right. i forgot hes dead too. lol well, i dont really get all this cloning stuff anyway. its not just the man that makes a great soldier. its also the training n everything. the way i see it, they should just leave the past in the past n make a new character altogether.
snake is probably dead at this point in the timeline
no one can stop him! - solid snake
Shame that snake never saw what raiden did like running down a building while slaying a metal gear rex
solid snake basically killed his entire family tree
he blew up venom snake with a rocket launcher
burnt big boss alive and turns out he was actually alive
he ofc finished off liquid snake
and there's the comic which had an alternative ending of snake waking up and killing solidus instead of raiden
Snake's Foxdie killed Big Boss, Eva, and Liquid.
And the comic isn't canon
HOLY SHIT THEY JUST IMPLIED SNAKES STILL ALIVE
solodarkblade
Source?
B r a n d o n His source was most likely the ending of mgs4 XD
solodarkblade
No he didn't. Solid is still very much alive and retired. Sunny talks about him in Rising.
Plus the Codec conversation with Kevin, Raiden says Snake would kill him if he heard him talking about him that way.
Kojima has also said that Snake is alive.
solodarkblade
He is not dead. I will take the word of Kojima and THE GAME over your punk ass.
WiseEndro333
I have played MGS4 numerous times.I know what the game says. Yet Kojima himself keeps retconning things and has said that Snake is still very much alive in Rising.
Just like Big Boss used to be dead at one point and then he shows up alive at the end of MGS4 (well only to die again but still).
I keep feeling that raider looks up to Snake like a dad.
Solidous may have been Raidan’s father, but he wasn’t his daddy. Snake is!
Calling him father gives Solidus too much credit too.
Snake died and was reborn in Smash. He's not fighting for war anymore, he's fighting in peace.
No, I'm not saying Smash is canon or that that's what happened for those who misunderstand

“Oh cmon I’m not tha- *oh- son of a-..*
“Please tell me that was a joke.”
even the strongest metal gear character still fans boy on snake

Raiden = Lightning Bolt = Mortal Kombat
“Please tell me that was a joke” no way💀💀
Raiden (adopted nephew) I'm glad he found his idol. Solid Snake ( Adopted uncle )
Of course, Snake only had ~6 months to live at the end of MGS4. Rising takes place a few years after 4.
Incorrect. It was 6 months for the FoxDie to mutate. It's inconclusive how long Snake will live. All we know is that he was already living on sheer will alone during the events of MGS4.
0:34
Snake: I'm no hero, never was, never will be...
Snake is practically Raiden's uncle.
One thing I love about Solid Snake is that it's never outright confirmed that he died after 4. Just leave it to the player to decide. I like that.
I imagineif MGR-R had just surfaced as MGR, Rose, Granddaddy Snake, Otacon, and Sunny would've been contacts.
Sunny is a contact, though. You can call her after the flight in RLV.
Rest In Peace Old snaky boi
When you talk to dok about the sliders raiden mentions snake
Nobody talking about how the voice actor for Kev is also Vamp? Like, dawg that's crazy
Fr?
If snake isn’t dead, here’s what possibly happened:
-He’s a Cyborg
-He’s basically zero in MGS4 now
-They did a 2nd Les enfants terribles but with snake as the one being cloned instead of big boss
Snake, Big Boss, Otacon and Raiden are the big deal why, mgs series was great til this very day
How about a co-op game with snake and Raiden taking place when they save sunny...still don't know much about that time! And Raiden becomes a cyborg at the end...don't know much about that either. There's open ground for story still
I think that point in time should just be left alone
that was the original plot for this game but was changed later on the development process
It would be cool to see Dr Madnar in a 3d Metal Gear
That first interaction 😂
does anyone think raider can live forever since he's a cyborg
raiden I mean
not really his brain is still organic
well i think is not going to be like sneak he's going to die normally
Raiden remember what snake said to otacon about you on the big shell
Raiden talks about Snake in the present tense, Kev talks about him like he is already gone. Goddamn. Which one is true? xD
Raiden is the Best, But I really miss Solid Snake and Big Boss
Considering the number of vehicles snake has managed to take down on his own, it would be no small feat for him.

If I remember correctly, I remember Snake being buried in the Arlington National Cemetery not long after the events of MGS4 according to the official MGS4 novel.
Would Snake be able to handle any of the crazy shit that went on in this game? Metal Gear Ray, robot dog, multi arm babe, magnet man, dude with scissor swords, Brazilian badass, Metal Gear Excelsus, and the ultimate Senator?
m.ruclips.net/video/154VX5aXHy8/видео.html
This answers your question.
Yes for sure but only with an armor like the Sam ones, to beat Armstrong* mainly
I think with RAY the answer is kinda obvious, he fought many Metal Gears in the past and the only reason he was defeated by RAY is because he was on the tanker, but if human Raiden could take multiple of them I'm sure Snake could too, now about the winds of destruction I would say Blade Wolf, Mistral, Sundowner and maybe even Jetstream Sam would be possible, most of them are very similar to the Beauty and the Beast unit, Sam would probably be something similar to the Cyborg Ninja, I'm not taking much of the gameplay into account because let's remember in these games you can survive many bullet holes if you have a ration in your pocket, if it was a regular MGS they would probably be adjusted to Snake's gameplay
metal gear ray was in mgs2
@@apchistuztrue, but without the crazy ass plasma beam, i think that's the only modification, right?
I know it's just meant to be a dumb little Easter Egg conversation but I'm confused by the way Raiden talks about Snake in the present tense, but then the other guy says "I wish I got to meet him." Interestinnnng
it's a line that still confuses Mgs fans till this day Its sorta implying snake is either dead or in hiding
Well hey, there's not gunna be any more MGS games now so I guess we'll never know!
jaryd12345 True
Call a sign of Raiden's lingering inherent humanity that he can't bear to acknowledge the truth that his hero has passed on.
Solid Snake is gone forever now there is only raiden and Naked Snake (Big Boss) left
Good thing he did. Konami is so shit these days Snakes are turning in their graves.
The mention of his wife is what piqued my interest in MGS?
It's sad to think Snake is dead by then
I keep forgetting that Raiden can have a chummy personality.
"Save it for your wife, Raiden."
"I have one of those?"
"One of the best soldiers I've ever seen"
This game takes place some years after mgs4 and they don’t talk about snake being dead so hopefully he’s alive.
0:59 But he can't cause he's dead 😢
I wish Solid Snake would have appered in Revengence
Snake, Big Boss and even the other snakes and Ocelot could live with nano-machines and cyborg parts.. I wonder if Solid is alive..
No, Big Boss IS Big Boss, Snake IS Solid Snake, do you get it ?
+Foxmanded42 Big Boss is known as snake, but the names liquid solid solidus were given by big boss to his clones
Baker Salahat Big Boss depise them, it was Zero or Doctor Clark who give those names to the clones.
nope, he trained (solid) and he gave him this name
he fought liquid and named him as well.
Baker Salahat Big Boss never met Liquid.
You’re cursed.
